mom & dad brought her fish after fish, but then mom came up once from a dive with nothing... youngster appeared to throw a tantrum, tapping and snapping at her beak. mom was not amused.
Bambi wanted milk but mama deer was wanting a break I guess. This was right before she kicked the fawn off with her foot.
Storm loves winter. And this winter has been a real gentle and nice one. Not many days that have been really cold, and pretty few days that have been rainy. About 3 feet of snow, which is managable. Or perfect, according to Storm. Here from a lovely day close to Heimastoelen.

Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs major league baseball team, is often referred to as "The Friendly Confines," a term coined and popularized by former Cubs star Ernie Banks. And indeed, it is a very friendly place to attend a game...except, maybe, for the beer prices. :-)

Mark this one down to identifiable Sandhill Crane behavior.
I had no end of delight showing this to others while at Creamer's Field during the autumn crane migration from Alaska to the lower 48. The behavior being exhibited by the crane to the left is "Intent to fly," that is, it is telling the others in its group that it wants to fly away and is pointing in the direction of flight. Note how the neck is more of a diagonal than the other two cranes. Less than two seconds after displaying this posture, the small group of cranes took to the air. There were a few times where the small group - sometimes just two - decided not to fly off. When the group agrees, they all assume this "leaning" posture and then fly off. When one in the group doesn't want to fly they don't change their posture, essentially saying, "Yeah, not right now."
