The Strait of Gibraltar is home for resident bottlenose dolphins, striped dolphins, common dolphins and long-finned pilotwhales. Sperm whales hunt for squid and are regular visitors. Fin whales pass through the Strait in spring. The killer whales visit in July and August when the tuna return to the Atlantic after spawning.
This photo was taken in Kuching, the capital of the state of Sarawak, on the southwestern part of the island of Borneo, and a part of the Malaysian federation. This is one of many installations of wall art on buildings’ exterior.

The Roman wall in the old town of Le Mans is one of the best of its type still extant in France. The 1300m long construction is laid out with 12 towers wraps around the immaculately preserved and restored Plantagenet Old City. There are only two longer ancient Roman walls left, in Rome and Istanbul (Constantinopole).
From Wikipedia: Dubrovnik (historically Ragusa) is a Croatian city on the Adriatic Sea, in the region of Dalmatia. It is a Mediterranean Sea seaport and the centre of Dubrovnik-Neretva County. In 1979, the city of Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. The prosperity of the city was historically based on maritime trade; as the capital of the maritime Republic of Ragusa, it achieved a high level of development, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries, as it became notable for its wealth and skilled diplomacy. In 1991, after the break-up of Yugoslavia, Dubrovnik was besieged by the Serb and Montenegrin soldiers gathered in the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) for seven months and suffered significant damage from shelling. After repair and restoration works in the 1990s and early 2000s, Dubrovnik re-emerged as one of the top tourist destinations in the Mediterranean.

As you can see, plaster covers a brick wall.
in these days Germany remembers the holes in the Berlin Wall and in Europes "Iron Curtain" - which was a line of death - and separated many families, also mine... here are some pictures I took in 1994 - showing rests of the wall near the Reichstag/Bundestag...
Juyong Pass (Chinese: 居庸关; pinyin: Jūyōng guān) is a mountain pass located in the Changping District of Beijing Municipality, over 50 kilometers (31 mi) from central Beijing. The Great Wall of China passes through, and the Cloud Platform was built here in the year 1342. The pass is one of the three greatest mountain passes of the Great Wall of China
A Sicilian wall lizard (Podarcis waglerianus) on a chunk of rock near the Alcantara Gorge in Sicily. These lizards seem to be quite prolific across the island and easy enough to spot owing to their vibrant colours and markings.
I think these lower walls were the first line of defence as they are not as tall as the higher walls. That reads very funny but there are two sets of walls one along the crest of the hill and one half way up.

What can I say. I am attracted to texture and numbers and this wall had both.
old commentary [Still workings on older images and thinking of an abstract show coming up.
Update: for those who care to know, I am suffering from muscle spasms in my neck due to my overdoing it during my moving ordeal. Valium is a perfect muscle relaxer for spasms so ....... but not a great motivator for commenting on flickr. So once again, I apologize for not keeping up or catching up with my contacts. Thank you to those who have not deserted me completely. Only 30 more boxes to unpack and now I have to move one book or so at a time.]
