While most of the images I made while exploring Kapwani Kiwanga's "A wall is just a wall (and nothing more at all) exhibit at Esker Foundation were attempts to showcase her work, this shot is one I made to show how there's beauty and interest inherent in the exhibition space.

About Our Wall:

Our Wall is a 3/5 scale of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC,

it stands six feet tall at the center and covers almost 300 feet from end to end.

This Traveling Memorial stands as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during

the Vietnam War. It was made for the purpose of helping heal and rekindle

friendships and to allow people the opportunity to visit loved ones in their home

town who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington.

What remains of the "Berlin Wall" (Berlin, Germany)

Picture wall that we are working on finishing in our dining room. We have really random pictures on it temporarily until we can get the proper hooks to finish the project. This is another idea I got from someone on this website. However, I changed a few things.

I went out and got black foamcore board cut down to 6 x 8's so that our 4 x 6's would have a generous border. We definitely implemented a different hanging system than what we read to do, because we feel this one made more sense.

La Laguna, old town

I went to the extraordinary Newseum in D.C. last week, and took several photographs of the Berlin Wall segment on display -- all from the western side. The eastern side was blank. What does that say to us?

The area of Old Portsmouth is also known as Spice Island which is where all the

spices used to enter the city. The area features many historical buildings and features.

The old defences are still in place and you can walk along (and in) the hot walls, part of the

fortifications for the harbour entrance.

This scene was in front of me for some months! You don't have to go on explore to find a good shot. Sometimes all you need is to see differently.

Museum Rietberg

... a massive concrete relief on the back wall dominates the foyer.

The work of artist Helmut Federle (2006 - no title - for Johannes Itten und Andy Hug) gives the cavern-like space of the museum mythical depth.

For visitors it is possible to buy some fine gold platelets and to decorate the relief like a Buddha satue.
