We are back in the Upper Dove valley for today’s image with one taken just after sunrise last week. I was up on Chrome Hill looking down the dragons back and was hoping for a dramatic sunrise but unfortunately that was not to be. It was still very pleasant getting some lovely soft warm light and also worth the 03:30 am start. (Olympus EM-1 Mkii 7-14mm f/2.8 pro 1/40 f/6.3 @ 12mm Wolverine GND-R 0.9 (3 stop) Reverse grad)
This photo is similar to the one I posted yesterday, with a different perspective. I could not decide which one I like better. I like both of them for different reasons. This one seems as though it fills the frame better. I thought I'd share it with you.
I was trying to catch woody doing one of his cute cat stretches when he emerges from his snooze in his carrier. But point a camera at him, and he just poses....
This is the view of Chippenhook at sunrise,my childhood home. Interestingly, I lived there for over 20 years and had never seen this overlook sunrise. Proof, that you don't need to travel the world to find beauty. It was always in my backyard.
Another early morning enjoying those beauties. But tomorrow no sunrise for me, need some sleep hihi.
A little flower I found last weekend was beginning to show some life.
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)
A month since my laat visit Vermont Railway has been continuing to use ancient Green Mountain Railroad Alco RS1 405 in daily freight service on the Bellows Falls switcher assignment (train DASW). For decades this unit has almost exclusively been used only for service on the VRS' passenger seasonal excursion trains and perhaps would see use on revenue freights once or twice a year at most. So any time she's used for revenue service is special, and I'm hard pressed to think of anywhere else in the country an RS1 is used to haul freight anymore. For these reasons, I figured I should make the nearly 3 hr trip north to see her again!
Here is the ancient veteran built for the Rutland in November 1951 belching out some smoke as she throttles up in the yard at MP W0.1 on modern day VRS' North Walpole Industrial Track which is the north end of the old Boston and Maine Cheshire Branch and now is officially leased to NLR and under the control of the NLR Shop personnel.

Male Atlantic Walrus (Odobensus rosmarus) wakes from his nap on the ice. These animals are enormous, reaching maximum sizes of 12 feet (3.6 m) long and over 4,000 pounds (1,900 kg).
Boats are my theme for today. I'm no sailor, yet I have a curious love of boats. Wake the fish and scare the sharks, all while getting soaked and laughing my face off; what's not to enjoy.

I took this one a few years ago, but I hadn't processed it until now
Nice to finally see a few flowers starting to appear on the canal side.
Hope your all having a great week 😁
Waking up early on holiday is not something I do lightly, but this trip, with sunrise at 7:30 the alarm went off every day at 6:30.
It wasn't always worth it, and some-days I just crawled back into bed, but on day one of this holiday I was out there!
Lago di Misurina in the Italian Dolomites, truly a most beautiful place, 'if you have a good rental car' - another story - later...
When I got out to the shore it was just full of toggers, they were all over the place.
Luckily I read the manual and while they all went for the reflection that wasn't quite there I chose the little boat for my foreground interest, and not for the first time.
My camera is on UK time so it's one hour behind Italy time :-)
Little bit of sun, little bit of fog. And then try to enjoy a quiet morning, and listen to birds that are also slowly waking up, to enjoy a beautiful autumn day.
