The 3323 makes a triumphant return to the B&P after being out of service for over a year on the WAJO twisting and turning up the hill to Kane and points south.

With the company rotbox on the point, WJRE takes an extra WAJO out of Warren after the real WAJO got laid in due to snowstorms the night before.

Buffalo & Pittsburg train WAJO (Warren, PA - Johnsonburg, PA) shove their train over the West Branch of the Clarion River past the Domtar Paper Mill in downtown Johnsonburg, PA with GP40 3120, GP35 "Slug" 120 and GP38-2 2004 on a clear summer Friday evening June 24, 2022.

The WAJO heads for the Sewer Plant after working the upper yard.

WAJO heads south through Harris with some St. Mary's stone on the headpin. At one time years ago the WAJO would run the A&E all the way to St. Mary's, but St. Mary's rips are few and far between now and are usually handled by the extraboard.

High up above Johnsonburg, BP WAJO shoves back into the yard with a 5 set of Geeps.

BP WAJO heads back west towards Warren with an ideal leader and ideal lighting.

A POS leader but a very hard train to catch in daylight!

My favorite job to work, and to shoot, heads south a bit early on a perfect rainy spring evening.

Since I've worked on the BP there has only been one daylight WAJO and it was on a cloudy day with less desirable power, but last friday we finally got a mostly sunny day to chase the WAJO back west (timetable North) Here 2002 just starts to get into dynamics to start the downhill trek towards Warren.

A rare daylight WAJO passes the depot at Kane on its way to the Burg.

Warm wishes to all my Flickr friends for a Merry Christmas! Or for a frohe Weihnachten, joyeux Noël, vrolijk kerstfeest,Feliz Navidad, or whatever the case may be in your own country, as one of the neatest things about Flickr is it's true international nature.

On a cold winter day in 1988, Allegheny Railroad turn job #WAJO starts east out of town and immediately faces an uphill climb, which the train is just starting into here. Power are two ALY GP-40 diesels that came from Conrail, plus a leased C&O GP-9. Helping for the grade and shoving on the rear, is an ALY CF-7 that came from the Santa Fe. This train was normally mostly tank cars, and loaded with Asphalt from the plant in Warren. At the time, I thought it was really neat to see solid tank car trains because they had not yet become "a thing" like they would later on with the Ethanol and Oil trains from the upper Midwest and Canada.

Last week Zach and I discovered that we each had a couple PTO days to burn. I took the same days that he did just because there wasn't much else free. My intention was to get things done at home, do some car shopping, and maybe train stuff. I didn't have a passport but I decided to work on that this week for the sake of having that done for future endeavors, and maybe I'd have more options open up for the long weekend if things went quickly. I had an appointment to apply for an expedited passport in Buffalo on Tuesday. The night before my appointment I discovered that the copy of my birth certificate that I had was not a certified copy as is required. I was pretty much screwed but I wasn't going to throw that appointment away because they are difficult to come by. Between working the WAJO on Monday and Tuesday nights somehow I managed to get the certified certificate that I needed from the records office at my birthplace and get my passport application submitted in Buffalo. On Wednesday, late in the afternoon, I called Zach and told him the news. By nothing short of a godsent miracle, I was walking out of the passport agency in Buffalo with a passport in hand. With a good forecast ahead we made the decision to head for the ONR, and less than a couple hours later we crossed the border. The end result was two great days and one that wasn't so great, plus a driving day, but this was one of those shots that made the last minute scramble worth it regardless of what followed. Kudos to Zach for the driving and doing the legwork on getting some pregame info despite not having a ton of time to do so. ONR twenty one naught one southbound out of Englehart for North Bay, in the no man's land south of Temagami.

Mike Zollitsch takes XRISI into the siding up to Anderson's Crossing where they'll tie down and be recrewed by the north end guys later. Typically these extras will run north under the cover of darkness between Riker and Mount Jewett, but every once in a while they change things up and it works in our favor. We picked this 2142 up a bit over a week ago to use in Warren, and two days into it's tenure on the WAJO it suffered a fire at Ludlow and we set it up to go south for repairs that evening. Sadly it lost its SOU walkway lights prior to its return to the north end.

Happy New Year to all my Flickr friends! Closing out the Allegheny theme we see what was probably the craziest lashup I ever found on this operation. Among the variety of power leased by the ALY were two Shawmut line Geeps, and one B&LE SD-9. On this day I found them being used together on the eastbound #WAJO train, providing for an interesting but difficult chase that started under clouds and snow. Further east though towards Johnsonburg, there was clearing sky making for this sunny shot. Looking at the branches on the front of the P&S 11, looks like the trip was also "interesting" for the crew.
