"What, did you say all you wanted to say?
Did you do all you wanted to do?
All you ever wanted was the liminal"
The Liminal by Chelsea Wolfe
I almost went over to fix the straighten the right chair. Then decided that even in this minimal setting the discordant note of the chair askew, in an almost sterile environment is certainly a metaphor with a myriad of associations.
Don't you think?
Happy Monochrome Monday! Fellow visitors to The OHSU Dental Clinic. The Pug sat in complete boredom while the ladies chatted.
The renovated Untion Station in St. Paul, MN has a waiting arrea that is immense. I can't imagine if it ever would be packed.
I didn't expect this immense hall and so I did not bring my tripod. But I was able to get a couple of photos like this fellow in front of a huge back-lit panel. No trains were due that I could tell, but here and there were those enjoying the quiet and beautiful ambience.
What also caught my eye was the reflection on the immaaculate and shiny floors throughout the building and especially in front of this panel.
This guy was hanging about on the Folkestone arm yesterday drinking coffee. John and myself were the only others there. It was a cold wet morning with the waves coming over the victorian structure. Very much a candid grab shot.

Imagine finding this photo in a time capsule 200 years into the future. What assumptions would you make about the "beings" that would use such a room?
It's interesting that this scene was almost naturally a mid-tone scene with color being almost totally absent.
Michigan Central Station, Detroit, Michigan, USA. The old decaying train depot has recently been magnificently revitalized.

Antwerp central station, also known as The Railway Cathedral was constructed between 1895 and 1905. The world's fourth greatest train station.
In the waiting room at Bristol's Temple Meads train station on a cold December evening.
A snatched shot of a fellow traveller lost in thought and oblivious to those around him.

It's happened to all of us, I'm sure. Stumble on something your eye loves but you don't have the right camera/lens to hand. This was one of those--hurrying through the Lisbon airport, I saw this waiting room off to one side. I've no idea how many itty bitty square tiles were mounted on those walls in that voluminous space. I only know I was bummed that my Olympus was neatly packed away and all too aware that my iPhone wasn't going to be able to get a crisp capture of all those tiny squares.
Still, I can't walk by empty chairs without snapping them, can I?
On an Eels kick this morning. Listening to "Novocaine for the Soul": youtu.be/V2yy141q8HQ
