If I show you all my demons

And we dive into the deep end

Would we crash and burn like every time before?

I would tell you all my secrets

Wrap your arms around my weakness

If the only other option's letting go

I'll stay vulnerable, yeah

Snowy Owl has a Conservation Status under the IUCN of Vulnerable www.iucnredlist.org/species/22689055/205475036

This first year female Snowy Owl was unconcerned at my presence, though I wasn’t standing out in the open nor was I using using a short lens to get this photo. Rather, I was inside my vehicle and deploying an 800 mm lens, so this bird was not as close as it might seem [the image is also cropped]. Although it was buzzed by a Common Raven at one point, this majestic bird definitely exuded an aura of not being too worried about any threats.

The leopard (Panthera pardus) is one of the five species in the genus Panthera, a member of the Felidae. The leopard occurs in a wide range in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Asia and is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List because leopard populations are threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation and are declining in large parts of the global range.

Contemporary records suggest that the leopard occurs in only 25% of its historical global range. Leopards are hunted illegally, and their body parts are smuggled in the wildlife trade for medicinal practices and decoration.

Compared to other wild cats, the leopard has relatively short legs and a long body with a large skull. It is similar in appearance to the jaguar, but generally has a smaller, lighter physique. Its fur is marked with rosettes similar to those of the jaguar, but the leopard's rosettes are smaller and more densely packed, and do not usually have central spots as the jaguar's do. Both leopards and jaguars that are melanistic are known as black panthers.

The leopard is distinguished by its well-camouflaged fur, opportunistic hunting behavior, broad diet, and strength (which it uses to move heavy carcasses into trees), as well as its ability to adapt to various habitats ranging from rainforest to steppe, including arid and montane areas, and its ability to run at speeds of up to 58 kilometres per hour (36 mph). – Wikipedia

Humboldt Penguin has a Conservation Status under the IUCN of Vulnerable www.iucnredlist.org/species/22697817/182714418

The Humboldt Penguin is found all along the coast of Peru except for the far north (and off much of Chile except for the far south). A report by the IUCN published in 2018 gave the entire population as only 32,000 and declining; the species is rated Vulnerable on the Red List.

Both the bird species and the ocean current are named after famed naturalist and explorer Alexander von Humboldt.

(The two birds below the penguins are Inca Terns: see www.flickr.com/photos/luminouscompositions/52459642180/in... and www.flickr.com/photos/luminouscompositions/52459468994/in... for more images of this species.)

These Humboldt Penguins were seen from a small boat on a trip around an island about one square kilometre in area near the fishing community of Pucusana, south of Lima, Peru, South America.

Being officially classified as vulnerable, it is a real surprise to see a hooded plover anytime, but this was great to see a couple nesting down near Port MacDonnell in South Australia. I had parked the car and wandered a little closer on foot before I realised there was a nest. They naturally got quite agitated and jumpy, so not wanting to disturb them in any way I immediately backed right off, got back in the car and was surprisingly able to get much closer with the car without causing them any problems. They were happy as long as they didn't see anyone on foot. Fingers crossed they survive all the locals, cats, dogs and sightseers (like me) who travel along this little stretch of road. Thankfully it is on a quiet stretch of track that leads down to the beach well away from the town.

The lion (Panthera leo) is a species in the family Felidae; it is a muscular, deep-chested cat with a short, rounded head, a reduced neck and round ears, and a hairy tuft at the end of its tail. It is sexually dimorphic; adult male lions have a prominent mane, which is the most recognisable feature of the species.

It is a social species, forming groups called prides. A lion pride consists of a few adult males, related females and cubs. Groups of female lions usually hunt together, preying mostly on large ungulates. The lion is an apex and keystone predator, although some lions scavenge when opportunities occur.

Typically, the lion inhabits grasslands and savannas but is absent in dense forests. It is usually more diurnal than other big cats, but when persecuted it adapts to being active at night and at twilight.

It has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1996 because populations in African countries have declined by about 43% since the early 1990s. Lion populations are untenable outside designated protected areas. Although the cause of the decline is not fully understood, habitat loss and conflicts with humans are the greatest causes for concern. – Wikipedia

"Turbo" is a male Andean bear (Tremarctos ornatus) also known as spectacled bears because of the pattern on their faces. Turbo was born in 2010 and is now living at the San Diego Zoo.

Andean bears are the only species of bear native to South America and the most vegetarian of all bears except pandas. Only about 5% of their calories comes from rodents and insects.

The lion (Panthera leo) is a species in the cat family (Felidae). The lion is sexually dimorphic; males are larger than females with a typical weight range of 150 to 250 kg (331 to 551 lb) for the former and 120 to 182 kg (265 to 401 lb) for the latter. Male lions have a prominent mane, which is the most recognisable feature of the species.

A lion pride consists of a few adult males, related females and cubs. Groups of female lions typically hunt together, preying mostly on large ungulates. The species is an apex and keystone predator, although they scavenge when opportunities occur.

Typically, the lion inhabits grasslands and savannas but is absent in dense forests. It is usually more diurnal than other big cats, but when persecuted it adapts to being active at night and at twilight. In the Pleistocene, the lion ranged throughout Eurasia, Africa and the Americas from the Yukon to Peru but today it has been reduced to fragmented populations in Sub-Saharan Africa and one critically endangered population in western India.

Snug and safe up against its mama, a two-month-old cheetah takes a break from nursing to peek out at the world. The only remaining member of the litter, survival odds are not in favor of this young cub. With a high mortality rate due to predation and decreasing habitat, only about one out of five cubs make it to adulthood. Still, I have hope that this young one's cautious nature has secured its survival. February 2, 2017

The verditer flycatcher is an Old World flycatcher widespread in Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent, especially in the Lower Himalaya.

Scientific name: Eumyias thalassinus,

This species has an extremely large range, and hence does not approach the thresholds for Vulnerable under the range size criterion (Extent of Occurrence 30% decline over ten years or three generations). The population size has not been quantified, but it is not believed to approach the thresholds for Vulnerable under the population size criterion (10% in ten years or three generations, or with a specified population structure). For these reasons the species is evaluated as Least Concern.

Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.

Today is supposed to be about two actually irreconcilable opposites.

There is no light without shadows and without the cold of the night, we would not appreciate the warmth of the day.

We often try to suppress the unpleasant parts of life and only concentrate on the beautiful things. And then we are surprised and sometimes shocked when the “evil twin” suddenly appears in front of us. This shock can even cause us to completely lose sight of the light and have great difficulty finding it again.

What we can do, however, is to always be aware of both sides. When I love, it is an indescribably beautiful and inspiring feeling. And at the same time it makes me more vulnerable than almost anything else in life. Where there is a lot of love, there may also be a lot of pain (everyone, who has children knows what I am talking about). Should we therefore stop loving? Of course not. We just have to make sure we always have enough love for ourselves. Then we are able to deal with the pain (even if that doesn't make it any more pleasant).

I could write a book with the thoughts that fill me on this topic. For today, however, I have to leave it with this short form.

Photographically, today I'm going to turn to light first. And few of my recent photos can convey this as well as this beautiful sunny morning on the Bastei rocks in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.

The beautiful Wandi the Dingo, the miracle “Dingo who fell from the sky” was found in a residents backyard in Wandiligong in Northern Victoria, with claw marks in his back, most likely having been dropped after being taken by a bird of prey.

After DNA testing, Wandi was indeed found to be a 100% pure Alpine Dingo, our most vulnerable Dingo, and now lives at the Dingo Discovery Sanctuary near Toolern Vale with his gorgeous partner Hermione.

Wandi’s amazing story has done a lot to help the cause of the Dingo Discovery Sanctuary who are dedicated to saving our country’s apex predator from reckless governments who insist on attempting to eradicate them via cruel shooting and baiting programs.

Wandi can be found on Instagram @wandi_dingo where he now has over 47,000 followers.

This is not your typical dining experience.

You may not eat at all.

At first, you’ll feel vulnerable.

That’s necessary to become full.

You have to be receptive to the world. To people and experiences.

You must be ready to change yourself. To feast on possibilities.

The minutes add up.

For some, it is easier than others.

A few come back for seconds.

Yet, if you decide you can’t finish,

You’ll be more miserable than ever.

All your future food will taste like dust. The people you love most will dessert you while Your constant craving for companionship

Will fill your remaining days.

Sometimes, it is grueling to be alive

Just knowing we will die

Even more difficult, to love others.

Knowing they may die first.
