Finally took my Holga 120 WPC for a bit of a photo walk this morning. I don't know why, but I never really got warm with it. I've had the 120 WPC for a few months now but couldn't produce anything I particularly like with it. Almost all the rolls I ran through it were ruined in some way or another not actually related to the camera itself. A bit like a curse, really. This one turned out perfectly fine, though!
The lack of a viewfinder makes composing quite tough but I almost nailed my intended composition here.

From my recent trip to Finland, the Uspenski Cathedral in Helsinki.
For some reason, my scanner seems to have problems rendering the fine warm nuances in the print. It does with all prints made on this paper. Tried to faithfully adjust the white balance in post here so that it actually matches the print.

I know, I know, all the experimenting with medium format film, colour photography, new scanner and new scanner software took an awful lot of my time and I am terribly behind my Flickr activities.
Yet, I didn't want to let this season go by without a post wishing a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all my Flickr friends.
So I am posting this picture of Loriga thinking how fortunate I am to be able to spend Christmas in such wonderful weather. Portugal has a great mild climate and we Portuguese are all very lucky to benefit from it.
It actually brings to mind a curious joke about the Portuguese: When creating the world, God distributed floods, earthquakes and various other natural catastrophes around the world, so Peter protested that he was favouring the Portuguese and being thus unfair to the rest of the earth population, to which God said: "Wait and see the kind of people I am putting there".
Yes, sometimes I feel that we don't deserve the blessing of our small beautiful country.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
AND
HAPPY NEW YEAR
TO ALL

Pretty fuzzy, almost like a Holga, to some degree. Shot wide open, the Seagull 4A TLR camera certainly has some Holga-esque quality to it ;)
Love how dramatic and fuzzy this image is! Can't even make out my beautiful tie, what a shame! ;)
This camera is all new to me, I just wanted some 6x6 camera that doesn't break the bank, is relatively small and lightweight and just... works. I've only had it for two days at this point but I already like it a lot!

- два храма: Успенский трехпрестольный (XVII век) и Троицкий однопрестольный;
- пятиярусная колокольня (построенная вновь в 2003 году на месте разрушенной в 1950-х годах). На третьем ярусе колокольня находится самая большая звонница Тверской епархии, общая масса колоколов 12,5 тонны, самый большой колокол «Благовест» 5,1 тонны;
- музей (бывшая часовня и иконохранилище). Музей посвящен истории села Завидово и храмовому комплексу;
- сторожка, где расположен музей «Народные промыслы России» и воскресная школа. Прежде здесь же находилась ограда с башнями, которые впоследствии были разрушены.
The temple complex of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (zavidovohram.ru/) stands in the center of the ancient village of Zavidovo, somewhat east of the Moscow highway (112 km) - St. Petersburg (522 km).
Currently, the Church complex includes:
- two temples: the Assumption three-altar (17th century) and Trinity single altar,
- the five-tier bell tower (rebuilt again in 2003 on the site destroyed in the 1950s). The bell tower on the third tier is the largest belfry of the Tver Diocese, the total mass of the bells is 12.5 tons, the largest bell is the Blagovest bell 5.1 tons;
- the museum (the former chapel and the icon-depository) is dedicated to the history of Zavidovo village and the temple complex, opened on June 12, 2006.
- nearby is the gatehouse, where the museum "Folk crafts of Russia" and the Sunday school are now located. First there was a fence with towers, which were subsequently destroyed.

Tech bits -
35mm slide film, x4 different scan exposures blended together to pull up details in the shadows. Infra Red pass to help remove scratches. Original slide was heavily contaminated. Scanner colour profile was created by scanning a calibrated image. This helps in obtaining accurate colours. Output is 3600dpi, scanned to a 48 bit ProPhoto RBG Tiff file for maximum colour range. The file is then reduced by 1/2 size to help sharpening and keep file sizes to a manageable level - around 25Mb.

And there he flows on, off the park -- the fence on the far background mark the limits of Covão d'Ametade. The "bowing" trees form an arcade-like structure that is very appreciated by photographers, particularly when good reflections are possible..
This picture was taken on a sunny day, hence the adoption of RPX400, a film of very soft contrasts that can be easily adjusted in post processing.

.... I`m still heavily jet-lagged ( lol ) , so my comments on your photostreams will delay tonight.
Harman Phoenix 200 is one of the very few films developed from scratch (you can read more about it here). In its current iteration, it's a “quirky, experimental film [that] produces high-contrast images with strong, visible grain and punchy, vibrant colours”, and I will agree with Harman Photo's press release – it indeed is a high-contrast film. Grain is not that bad, it has the look of expired film, but its sharpness is decidedly sub-par – it is not a sharp film!
I metered it at 125ASA, two-thirds of a stop below its rated 200ASA speed, and seeing the results, I won't even try to use it at the box speed. Halation effects are clearly present, but not as visible as on CineStill films.
Overall, I'm more than positively surprised, and I am happy with the results!

An older negative printed only now. Certainly something for the lith grain fetishist ;)
I much prefer this lith print over my original upload which was simply a direct negative scan. This print has such a heavy, dramatic look to it and fits the subject much better, I believe.

@ changed the scanning method of the monochrome film. - 48bit color mode ... it`s cool.
An opaque layer of fog enveloped the whole area near the river on the last day of the year. I just had to catch the opportunity, despite the fact I still wasn't feeling very well, from the side effects of the booster shot I received two days earlier. I went for a walk, had a fair share of doubts, but in the end, it turned out to be a good idea - you don't get to see fog like that very often!
