5 second exposure shot at ISO 100, f/22, 50mm
This was a little tricky. None of the colors/lighting were added in Photoshop. I positioned the monkey on top of a blue Tesla ball inside a black cupboard. The inside was shiny, which is why the light worked so well for me. I shot a 5 second exposure and had my assistant use a warm-toned flashlight to paint the light on the monkey's face, While she was doing that, I used a green laser pointer and hit the side of the reflective black paint, making the laser light scatter and thereby creating the "vortex" effect you see.
Vortex restaurant entrance, this was our second year of gathering a bunch of Freaks for Family Dinner while we were at Dragon*Con. Dainty Punk Kim did all the organizing of herding 30 Freaks to dinner. There are more shots of this on my multiply account (pyrogus Multiply )
Hula hooping is something I picked up purly for my own photographic impluses. I love the flow of it and the light painting that can be done with it. At first I was sad how you couldn't see me but I find that the silhouette works here.
