Neuschwanstein Castle (German: Schloss Neuschwanstein, English: "New Swanstone Castle") is a nineteenth-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as an homage to Richard Wagner.
Das Schloss Neuschwanstein steht oberhalb von Hohenschwangau bei Füssen im südlichen Bayern. Der Bau wurde ab 1869 für den bayerischen König Ludwig II. als idealisierte Vorstellung einer Ritterburg aus der Zeit des Mittelalters errichtet. Der König lebte nur wenige Monate im Schloss, er starb noch vor der Fertigstellung der Anlage.
Unfortunately the Marienbrücke (Bridge over the Pöllat Gorge) – one of the best viewpoints was closed because of construction work – so I had to climb up an ice hill left to the Marienbrücke – which had an even more beautiful view – quite a good reward for a quite dangerous climb…
Leider war die Marienbrücke wg. Bauarbeiten gesperrt und so musste ich einen ziemlich vereisten Hügel links neben der Brücke hochklettern – und wurde dann mit einer noch schöneren Aussicht für die nicht ganz ungefährliche Kletterpartie belohnt…
INDIEN,Allahabad - sangam
Bei Allahabad vereinigen sich der Ganges, Indiens größter Strom, und sein wichtigster Nebenfluss, die Yamuna. Nach einer mythischen hinduistischen Vorstellung trifft an dieser Stelle auch ein dritter, unsichtbarer Fluss, die Sarasvati, auf den Ganges und die Yamuna. Daher wird der Ort des Zusammenflusses Triveni Sangam („Vereinigung von drei Strömen“) genannt.
Genau an diese Stelle werden die gläubigen Pilger mit zahlreichen Booten gefahren.
Andere machen ihre Waschungen am Strand.

Because today is Easter Sunday, I'll skip the other pictures of the icy and snowy Alps that I took and save them for later. Instead, I continue the journey and come to something much more spring-like.
We are here in Lombardy, a region of Italy. Here I kept discovering such poplar forests on both sides of the autobahn. I was so surprised to see them that I stopped my tour to take a closer look. And I have to say, especially now in spring, they are a great photo motif.
The young, still yellow leaves of the poplar trees gleam in the sun and on the ground there is a carpet of beautiful yellow and white wildflowers. My guess is that the yellow flowers are mustard and the white ones are cumin.
Since I took a few more pictures here, you will soon learn more about these forests.

Weil heute Ostersonntag ist überspringe ich mal die anderen Bilder der vereisten und verschneiten Alpen, die ich noch gemacht habe und hebe mir diese für später auf. Stattdessen setzte ich die Reise fort und komme zu etwas deutlich frühlingshafteren.
Wir befinden uns hier in der Lombardei einer Region von Italien. Hier entdeckte ich auf beiden Seiten der Autobahn immer wieder solche Pappelwälder. Ihr Anblick hat mich so überrascht, dass ich meine Fahrt unterbrochen habe, um sie etwas genauer in Augenschein zu nehmen. Und ich muss sagen, gerade jetzt im Frühling, sind sie ein tolles Fotomotiv.
Die jungen, noch gelben Blätter der Pappeln leuchten in der Sonne und am Boden blüht ein Teppich aus wunderschönen gelbe und weiße Wildblumen. Ich vermute, dass es sich bei den gelben Blüten um Senf und bei den weißen um Kreuzkümmel handelt.
Da ich hier noch ein paar Bilder gemacht habe, erfahrt ihr in Kürze noch mehr zu diesen Wäldern.
Für heute belasse ich es bei der Vorstellung und wünsche Frohe Ostern.

Dandelion with a greenfly - Löwenzahn mit Blattlaus
When the observer becomes the observed. That I had the full attention of this greenfly here, I just noticed when I whatched the photo on the pc.
Thats how it goes sometimes, You think, You are standing in the centre having control over everything. But suddenly You realise, that You are just one part of a much, much larger storie. So do Your best within Your limits and for the rest, enjoy the show called „the life“ !
Wenn der Beobachter zum Beobachteten wird. Das ich hier die volle Aufmerksamkeit einer Blattlaus hatte, ist mir erst am Computer aufgefallen.
So geht es manchmal im Leben. Du glaubst, Du stehst im Zentrum und hast die Kontrolle doch plötzlich stellst Du fest, Du bist nur ein Bestandteil einer viel, viel größere Geschichte. Also gieb Dein Bestes im Rahmen Deiner Möglichkeiten und für den Rest, geniese die Vorstellung genannt „Das Leben“ !
Waterfalls, yes, there are plenty of them in Slovenia. I saw five of them on my tour and I was only there for a few days. Each of them has a very special character and I will introduce them all here.
I'll start with the Šum. This approximately 13 to 19 meter high waterfall (depending on which source of information I trust) forms the exit of the Vintgar Gorge, which I told you about yesterday.
Due to the heavy rain there was a lot of water on the day of my visit and it made a lot of noise.
I made a conscious decision to include the bridge over the waterfall in the picture so that you have an idea of the proportions.
Wasserfälle, ja auch davon gibt es in Slowenien wirklich reichlich. Ich habe mir auf meiner Tour fünf davon angesehen, und ich war nur ein paar Tage unterwegs. Jeder von Ihnen hat einen ganz besonderen Charakter und ich werde sie alle hier noch vorstellen.
Ich beginne mit dem Šum. Dieser ca. 13 bis 19 Meter hohe Wasserfall (je nachdem welcher Informationsquelle ich traue) bildet den Ausgang der Vintgar Klamm, von der ich Euch gestern erzählt habe.
Durch den starken Regen war an dem Tag meines Besuches enorm viel Wasser unterwegs und so hat er ordentlich Lärm gemacht.
Ich habe mich bewusst entschieden, die Brücke über dem Wasserfall mit aufs Bild zu nehmen, damit Ihr ein Vorstellung von den Größenverhältnissen habt.

Hier eine klassische Ansicht der Südseite von der Marienbrücke zur Blauen Stunde, die einige Geduld seitens des Fotografen erforderte, bis die Brücke endlich menschenleer war und sich nur noch kaum bewegte.

We are back on the Alpe (that's what the Alm or shielding is called here) above the town Immenstadt im Allgäu.
In this photo you can see another detail that you will constantly encounter here, the small field barns. Although I know, of course, that these are only storage rooms, I always imagine what it would be like to live here in this place. In the middle of nature. And every time I feel my heart opening and how much I like that thought. Of course I also know that this is a very romantic idea and that it would not be an easy life. Nevertheless, I like to keep this vision. You don't always have to be brutally realistic.
As you can see from the clouds, the great heat wave is taking a short break. Time for us to move on. Where ? You'll see that tomorrow.
Wir sind zurück auf der Alpe (so nennt man hier die Alm) oberhalb von Immenstadt im Allgäu.
Auf diesem Foto ist ein weiteres Detail zu sehen, was Euch hier ständig begegnen wird, die kleinen Feldscheunen. Obwohl ich natürlich weiß, das es sich nur um Lagerräume handelt stelle ich mir jedesmal vor wie es wäre, hier an dieser Stelle zu wohnen. Mitten in der Natur. Und jedesmal fühle ich, wie sich mein Herz öffnet und wie sehr mir dieser Gedanke gefällt. Natürlich weiß ich auch, dass dies eine sehr romatische Vorstellung ist, und das es kein leichtes Leben wäre. Trotzdem behalte ich diese Vision gern bei. Man muß ja nicht immer gnadenlos realistisch sein.
Wie ihr an den Wolken erkennen könnt macht die große Hitzwelle erst einmal eine kleine Pause. Zeit für uns weiter zu ziehen. Wohin ? Das seht Ihr dann morgen.

This photograph at the Praia de Melides is a farewell shot in the true sense of the word.
I had experienced here, high on top of this dunes, a beautiful sunset and was already packing my equipment to drive back to my accomodation.. From the corner of my eye, I noticed small groups of seagulls passing by from time to time, exactly along the water line. I couldn't help but dropping my back bag again to capture at least one of them.
Take a lock at the fisherman down there on the beach as well. So You will have an idea, how high I am standing.
Dieses Foto vom Praia de Melides ist im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes ein Abschiedsfoto. Ich hatte hier, hoch oben auf der Düne, einen wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang erlebt und war schon dabei meine Ausrüstung zu verpacken um zu meinem Quartier zurück zu fahren. Aus den Augenwinkeln sah ich immer wieder kleine Gruppen von Möwen genau entlang der Wasserlinie vorbei ziehen. Ich konnte nicht anders, als den Rucksack noch einmal abzusetzen, um wenigstens eine davon einzufangen.
Beachtet auch den Angler da links unten am Strand. So habt Ihr eine Vorstellung, wie hoch ich hier stehe.

Sometimes you just get lucky and everything fits together.
When I got up at four o' clock this morning, I only had a rough idea how the pathway of the sun would be at lake Vilsalpsee in Austria. I had hoped that no clouds would overshadow the sunrise. I had no idea about the conditions on site and was hoping that there would still be enough snow for the sun to make it glow.
The closer I got to the place, the more it became apparent that my wishes would be fulfilled. Then, during my almost hour-long hike, when I could see the dawn behind me, I was as excited as a little kid at Christmas. And just like at Christmas, I was richly gifted.
Manchmal hat man einfach Glück und alles passt zusammen.
Als ich an diesem Morgen um vier aufgestanden bin hatte ich nur eine ungefähre Vorstellung, wie der Sonnenverlauf am Vilsalpsee in Österreich sein wird. Ich hatte gehofft, dass keine Wolken den Sonnenaufgang überschatten. Ich hatte keine Ahnung über die Konditionen vor Ort und hoffte, dass noch genug Schnee da sein wird, den die Sonne zum Glühen bringen kann.
Je näher ich dem Ort kam, um so mehr zeigte sich, dass meine Wünsche erfüllt werden würden. Als ich dann, während meiner fast einstündigen Wanderung, hinter mir die Morgendämmerung erkennen konnte, war ich aufgeregt wie ein kleines Kind zu Weihnachten. Und wie zu Weihnachten wurde ich reich beschenkt.

Less than three quarters of an hour from Funchal on a coast road that does not inspire confidence (with the risk of falling rocks and tunnels that I was really happy to have come out of alive) you come across this natural washing facility, the Waterfall of the Angels (Cascata dos Anjos).
A waterfall that falls directly onto the street from a height of 90 meters is something extraordinary. Accordingly, it is thundering when the water hits the car roof when driving through. There were also very brave ones who ran through here. I could barely stop myself.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find out how the waterfall got its beautiful name. However, I like the idea reflected in the title.
Eine knappe Dreiviertelstunde von Funchal entfernt auf einer wenig vertrauenerweckenden Küstenstrasse (mit dem Risiko von Steinschlägen und Tunneln bei denen ich echt froh war wieder lebend heraus gekommen zu sein) stößt man auf diese natürliche Waschanlage, den Wasserfall der Engel (Cascata dos Anjos).
Ein Wasserfall, der direkt auf die Strasse stürzt und das aus immerhin 90 Metern Höhe, das ist schon etwas Außergewöhnliches. Dementsprechend donnert es dann auch, wenn das Wasser beim Durchfahren auf das Autodach schlägt. Es gab auch ganz mutige, die hier durchgelaufen sind. Ich konnte mich gerde noch bremsen.
Wie der Wasserfall zu seinem wunderschönen Namen gekommen ist, hab ich leider nicht herausfinden können. Mir gefällt jedoch die Vorstellung, die sich im Titel wieder findet.

Imagine this. Its a cold winter evening. The deep hanging sun is shining through the mist, what is spreading over the water. You are sitting in your cosy hut by the lake looking through the panoramic window at a breathtaking winterly landscape. The chimney fire is filling the room with a pleasant warmness. You are reading a book, drinking a cup off hot tea. Would'nt this be wonderful ? I had this imagination instantly, when I saw that scenery.
Stellt Euch folgendes vor. Es ist ein kalter Winterabend. Die tiefstehende Sonne scheint durch den Dunst, der sich über dem Wasser ausbreitet. Ihr sitzt in eurer gemütlichen Hütte am See und schaut durch das Panoramafenster auf eine atemberaubende Winterlandschaft. Das Kaminfeuer brennt und umgibt euch mit einer wohligen Wärme. Ihr lest ein Buch und trinkt dazu einen heißen Tee. Wäre das nicht wundervoll ? Diese Vorstellung hatte ich augenblicklich, als ich diese Szene gesehen habe.
The Goetheanum is a building in Dornach in the canton of Solothurn, about ten kilometres south of Basel. It serves as the seat and conference venue of the General Anthroposophical Society and the School of Spiritual Science, as well as a festival hall and theatre building. It is named after Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. After the predecessor building, also known as the Goetheanum, was destroyed by arson on New Year's Eve 1922/23, the present building was constructed on the same site between 1925 and 1928. Both designs were by Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Anthroposophy. The monumental exposed concrete building with its wide span roof is remarkable for the fact that it largely dispenses with right angles. The monolithic-organic building, often attributed to Expressionism in terms of style, appears sculpturally formed and, according to Steiner's idea, was intended to express "the essence of organic design".[1] Together with other stylistically similar buildings in the immediate vicinity, the Goetheanum, which has been a listed building since 1993[2], forms an ensemble that is one of the cultural assets of national importance in the canton of Solothurn. As a fundamental structural model, the Goetheanum has also provided impulses for the entire anthroposophical architecture, which includes, for example, the buildings of many Waldorf schools.

We are (again) in the beautiful Fanal National Park on Madeira. I hope it doesn't get boring when I return there again and again, but I've only rarely visited a place where so incredibly many motifs can be found in a small space.
Whether it's the old giants standing alone or, as here, the Shire atmosphere under the canopy of the laurel forest. (Just the idea that there is a naturally grown forest of laurel trees is still hard for me to believe) And then there are the "forest cows", who wander around between the trees alone or in small groups and keep the grass nice and short (And always drop something. So when you're here, watch where you step!)
In any case, I can only wish that you like it here at least a little bit as much as I do, because a few more recordings will follow.
Wir befinden uns (schon wieder) im wundervollen Nationalpark Fanal auf Madeira. Ich hoffe, es wird noch nicht langweilig, wenn ich immer wieder dort hin zurück kehre doch ich habe nur selten einen Ort besucht, wo so unfassbar viele Motive auf engstem Raum zu finden sind.
Ob es die allein stehenden alten Giganten sind oder, wie hier, die Auenland-Atmosphäre unter dem Bätterdach des Lorbeerwaldes. (Allein die Vorstellung, dass es einen natütlich gewachsenen Wald nur aus Lorbeerbäumen gibt ist für mich immernoch kaum zu fassen) Und dann sind da noch die "Waldkühe", die allein oder in kleinen Guppen zwischen den Bäumen herum wandern und das Gras schön kurz halten (Und auch immer mal was fallen lassen. Darum wenn ihr hier seid, passt auf wo ihr hin tretet !)
Auf jeden Fall kann ich mir nur wünschen, dass es Euch hier wenigstens ein bisschen so gut gefällt wie mir, denn es werden noch ein paar Aufnahmen folgen.

Imotski, a beautiful small town in the south of Croatia, has two natural phenomena, the Blue and the Red Lake, but it also has a third beauty, the "Green Lake", actually a reservoir created by the construction of a dam in the town of Ričice and the submergence of the Ričice field. The lake has a characteristic bright blue-green color. This is a photo of a backwater that gives us the idea that it is a river and not a lake. Visit Imotski, visit Croatia, a truly beautiful country with many natural beauties. ***
Imotski, eine wunderschöne Kleinstadt im Süden Kroatiens, hat zwei Naturphänomene, den Blauen und den Roten See, aber auch eine dritte Schönheit, den „Grünen See“, eigentlich ein Stausee, der durch den Bau eines Staudamms entstanden ist Stadt Ričice und die Überschwemmung des Ričice-Feldes. Der See hat eine charakteristische leuchtend blaugrüne Farbe. Dies ist ein Foto eines Stauwassers, das uns die Vorstellung vermittelt, dass es sich um einen Fluss und nicht um einen See handelt. Besuchen Sie Imotski, besuchen Sie Kroatien, ein wirklich schönes Land mit vielen Naturschönheiten. ***
Imotski, prekrasni maleni grad na jugu Hrvatske ima dva prirodna fenomena, Modro i Crveno jezero, ali ima i trećeg ljepotana "Zeleno jezero", zapravo akumulacija nastala izgradnjom brane u mjestu Ričice i potapanjem ričičkog polja. Jezero je karakteristične svijetle plavo zelene boje. Ovo je fotografija jednog rukavca koji nam daje predožbu da je u pitanju rijeka a ne jezero. Posjetite Imotski, posjetite Hrvatsku, doista lijepu zemlju s mnoštvom prirodnih ljepota.
When I decided to take a short trip to the beautiful bohemian city of Cesky Krumlov at the moldova river a week before Easter, I had a really spring-like idea of what to expect there. I expected chirping birds, blooming flowers, a gentle evening breeze and a golden sunset.
What I got instead was this, heavy snowfall, icy wind and minus 6 degrees. I couldn't have been further wrong.
Even if the basic conditions from a photographic point of view are suboptimal at best, the trip was still a complete success for me. The city is really great and it wasn't my last time there.
Als ich mich entschieden habe eine Woche vor Ostern einen kurzen Ausflug in die wunderschöne böhmische Stadt Krumau an der Moldau zu unternehmen hatte ich eine richtig frühlingshafte Vorstellung, was mich dort erwarten würde. Ich erwartete zwitschernde Vögel, blühende Blumen, einen sanften Abendwind und einen goldenen Sonnenuntergang.
Was ich bekommen habe war das hier, Starker Schneefall, eisiger Wind und minus 6 Grad. Weiter hätte ich nicht daneben liegen können.
Auch wenn die Rahmenbedingungen aus fotografischer Sicht bestenfalls als suboptimal durchgehen, so war der Ausflug für mich trotzdem ein voller Erfolg. Die Stadt ist wirklich toll und ich war nicht das letzte Mal dort.

Nachdem die Vorstellung des Kameltheaters beendet war, konnte man Herrn Zöchling und seinen Kamelen folgen und durfte sie aus nächster Nähe betrachten. Die Mutigen durften sie auch streicheln. Das ließen sich Luis und Bärbel auch nicht nehmen !! Dromi, unser Stoffkamel war so überwältigt von der Größe seiner Verwandten, dass es sich nicht so nahe heran traute und lieber bei mir blieb ... 😊
After the performance of the camel theatre was over, one could follow Mr. Zöchling and his camels and was allowed to look at them up close. The brave ones were also allowed to stroke them. Luis and Bärbel didn't miss out on that either !! Dromi, our stuffed camel was so overwhelmed by the size of his relatives that it didn't dare get so close and preferred to stay with me ... 😊

Would space travel be possible in a steampunk world? Starships with steam propulsion ("Steamergy®"), maybe? But how would one create steam on a starship, and enough of it that the ship could reach superluminal speed and travel to far away galaxies without running out of fuel? The answer are: steam crystals. Crystals that are able to transform light into steam, accumulate the latter, and which can be reloaded by light. Ad infinitum. You don't believe me? I own such a crystal, and you can see it in action in my photo. I haven't figured out, yet, how the light to steam conversion works, but it works ;)
Wouldn't that be nice? And wouldn't that solve our energy problems? Well, in reality this is just a light blue, translucent fluorite octahedron which I'd placed onto / into the opening of an aroma diffusor / air damper. I'd wanted to use an element that gives you an idea about the scale of the scene, and at the same time something that would help to re-shape the simple "steam beam" that the air damper creates. Of course that beam, which is blown out of the small round opening of the air dampener, will eventually turn into cloudy swirls, but to photograph those wouldn't have worked in a macro setting, or rather the swirls would have looked fairly boring on their own. With the fluorite (size of the fluorite's visible upper half: 2 cm / 0,78 inches on each side of the triangles) placed directly upon / into the opening of the air damper, I was able to get three different steam beams, plus I could get pretty close to the fluorite = a macro image within MM's size limit.
The air damper itself is also an LED lamp with different colours (to give you an idea what I'm talking about, and what the device looks like, here's a link to a model similar to mine; the link opens in Amazon Germany: STRG+ www.amazon.de/Ankrs-%C3%84therische-Ultraschall-Luftbefeu...).
I'd chosen the purple permanent light to illuminate the fluorite from below. I've also used blue light (blue tealight holder on lamp) from the left while I had placed the EM-5 II (with the small accessory flash mounted) on the right side of the scene. The tricky part, apart from finding the correct camera settings, was to hit both remote cables' shutter buttons so that the EM-5 II (which is a little slower than the EM-1 III) would fire the flash before the faster EM-1 would go into long exposure mode due to lack of enough light. I can say as much: I've photographed an equal number of either totally black or (too) long exposed images with soft-looking steam, and only two with fairly well-defined steam and a nice-looking, well exposed, sharp fluorite. So in the end it was an easy choice to pick the MM photo ;) I should finally take some money and invest it into a decent external flashgun to be ready when another theme with similar lighting requirements such as "Smoke" comes along :) The EM-1 III didn't even come with a small accessory flash for the hotshoe, so a good external flash is overdue anyways.
P.S. Obviously steam / vapour isn't as "clean" as smoke. The tiny spots in the steam can't be grain (I guess), because there's is no grain in the other parts of the image, so maybe those are the tiny water droplets (or dust? It's always dust in macros) illuminated by the flash? I have no idea, and I hope you won't find the no-grain grain all too disturbing. I had the same "texture" in images I'd taken with ISO 800, and it didn't change when I lowered the ISO to 200, like here.

Mal ordentlich Dampf machen!
Ob in einer Steampunk-Welt wohl Weltraumreisen in ferne Galaxien möglich wären? In Raumschiffen mit Dampfantrieb ("Dampfergie®") womöglich? Aber wie könnte man Dampf auf einem Raumschiff erzeugen, noch dazu in ausreichender Menge, sodass ein solches Schiff Überlichtgeschwindigkeit erreichen könnte und ohne dass ihm jemals der Treibstoff ausgeht? "Dampfkristalle" sind die Lösung. Kristalle, die Licht in Dampf umwandeln, diesen speichern und nach ihrer Entladung wieder mit Licht aufgeladen werden können.
Endlos. Die perfekte Kreislaufwirtschaft :) Ihr glaubt mir nicht? Ich habe einen solchen Kristall in meinem Besitz und auf meinem Foto könnt Ihr ihn in Aktion sehen ;)
Eine solche Energiequelle wäre wohl mehr als Gold wert. Leider handelt es sich bei dem Mineral in meinem Foto aber bloß um einen hellblau-durchsichtigen Fluorit-Oktaeder, den ich auf bzw. teilweise in die Öffnung eines Luftbefeuchters / Aroma-Diffusors gesetzt habe. Warum? Ich wollte einerseits einen Gegenstand im Foto haben, der einem ein Gefühl für die Größe der Szene gibt; die Dreiecksflächen des Oktaeders, von dem Ihr hier die obere Hälfte seht, sind alle 2 cm lang. Und dann wollte ich versuchen, den an der Austrittsstelle noch sehr langweilig-gleichförmigen Dampfstrahl umzuformen (damit Ihr eine Vorstellung von dem Gerät bekommt und wie der Strahl an der Öffnung aussieht, hier mal ein Link zum großen Fluss, dort wird ein Luftbefeuchter gezeigt, der meinem ganz ähnlich sieht: STRG+ www.amazon.de/Ankrs-%C3%84therische-Ultraschall-Luftbefeu...).
Mit dem Oktaeder auf der Öffnung hatte ich auf einmal drei unterschiedliche Dampfstrahlen, schon einmal ein Anfang.
Da der Luftbefeuchter gleichzeitig auch als LED-Stimmungsleuchte fungiert, habe ich ihn auch dazu genutzt, den Oktaeder von unten zu beleuchten, mit dem lia Dauerlicht. Von links habe ich den Dampf mit blauem Licht angestrahlt (blauer Teelichthalter auf Lampe). Und die EM-5 II, ausgestattet mit dem kleinen Aufsteckblitz, habe ich schräg rechts hinter den Luftbefeuchter gestellt. Kniffelig war es dann nicht nur, die richtigen Kamera-Einstellungen zu finden, sondern auch beide Fernauslöser so zu drücken, dass der Blitz der etwas langsameren EM-5 II die Szene anstrahlt, bevor die schnellere EM-1 III mangels ausreichend Licht in den Langzeitbelichtungsmodus wechselt. Ich habe dann auch überwiegend entweder komplett schwarze oder zu lang belichtete (= weicher Dampf, hier unerwünscht) Fotos produziert und hatte am Ende nur zwei Bilder, wo sowohl der Dampf einigermaßen definiert als auch der Fluorit scharf und vernünftig belichtet war. Dieses Mal fiel die Auswahl des MM-Fotos also leicht ;) Ich sollte mir mal ein vernünftiges externes Blitzgerät zulegen (bei der EM-1 III wird nicht mal ein Aufsteckblitz mitgeliefert), damit ich für weitere Themen und Beleuchtungssituationen dieser Art, und auch sonst, gewappnet bin ;)
P.S. Anders als Rauch, der auf Fotos ja glatt, "sauber" aussieht, scheint es sich mit Wasserdampf anders zu verhalten. Die kleinen Pünktchen im Dampf können eigentlich kein Bildrauschen sein, denn das Bild ist sonst gar nicht verrauscht; winzige Tröpfchen, vom Blitz aufgehellt, evtl.? Ich habe keine Ahnung, konnte dazu auch nichts finden, aber der Dampf bzw. eigentlich ja Nebel hatte in allen Fotos dieselbe Textur, egal ob ich das Bild mit höherer ISO-Einstellung (800) oder, wie hier, mit ISO 200 gemacht hatte.

Die Entwürfe stammen von Christian Jank, die Ausführung übernahmen Eduard Riedel und Georg von Dollmann. Der König lebte nur wenige Monate im Schloss, er starb noch vor der Fertigstellung der Anlage.
Neuschwanstein ist das berühmteste der Schlösser Ludwigs II. und eine der bekanntesten Sehenswürdigkeiten Deutschlands. Es wird jährlich von etwa 1,5 Millionen Touristen besucht - jetzt auch von mir. Hier eine klassische Ansicht der Südseite von der Marienbrücke zur Blauen Stunde, die einige Geduld seitens des Fotografen erforderte, bis die Brücke endlich menschenleer war und sich nur noch kaum bewegte.

"Caleidoscoped" wooden roof of the gym at the Olympic Village in Elstal near Berlin for Sliders Sunday.
The finished image reminded me of a huge ship's hold - which immediately also reminded me of the story of Jonah and the Whale and also of Captain Ahab's eternal chase of Moby Dick. Since I've always loved the story of Jonah and the Whale when I was a child, but struggled to like (or even properly understand) Ahab's gruesome and cruel possession with the white whale called Moby Dick, I decided to use Jonah's story as my own imaginary backdrop for this image. Jonah and the Whale "inverted", if you like. I can't really remember when and where I heard the story first; it is possible that it was in religion class in elementary school, that my parents read me the story, or that I saw it in a children's programme on TV, but it fascinated me very much, and in my vivid childhood imagination, the whale eventually took a liking to Jonah (and vice versa), and, after passing their first "adventure" - the travel to Niniveh - together, the whale and Jonah became lifelong friends. I tried to visualise how Jonah would make himself comfortable inside of the whale's stomach, and I ended up with a fully furnished "room" with a comfy chair, bed and bookshelf, small kitchen (for both of them, since neither Jonah nor the whale could live on love alone) etc., and they experienced many more adventures together ever since ;-)
This is a very straightforward slide, I simply copied the single image of the roof to a second layer in photoshop, duplicated the workspace, mirrored one of the layers vertically and combined both layers. In Lightroom I then rotated the finished image. Some finishing processing touches here or there, like enhancing the structure, some HSL sliding for the colours etc. - done :-)

Mal wieder ein "kaleidoskopisiertes" Foto für den Sliders Sunday :-) Dieses Mal habe ich mit einem Foto vom Dach der Sporthalle im Olympischen Dorf in Elstal bei Berlin herumgespielt. Das fertige Bild hat mich dann auch gleich sowohl an die Geschichte von Jona und dem Wal als durchaus auch an Moby Dick erinnert, weil es für mich wie ein riesiger Schiffsbauch aussieht. Während mich aber Jonas Geschichte als Kind sehr faszinierte, konnte ich mit der ja doch sehr dramatischen Geschichte um Kapitän Ahabs Besessenheit von und seiner grausamen, unerbittlichen Jagd nach Moby Dick nur wenig anfangen. Jonas Geschichte ließ sich hingegen so schön weitergespinnen: Jona und der Wal werden auf ihrer dreitägigen, nicht ganz freiwilligen ersten gemeinsamen Reise nach Ninive nicht nur lebenslange Freunde, sondern bestehen im Anschluss noch viele weitere gemeinsame Abenteuer. Dabei reist Jona praktischerweise immer im Bauch seines Freundes - der in meiner Vorstellung bald wie ein sehr gemütliches "Zimmer" mit Lesesessel, Bücherregal, Bett, Lampe aussah - inklusive kleiner Küche, denn weder Jona noch der Wal leben ja nur von Luft und Liebe ;-)
Technisch ist dies ein sehr simpler "Slider"; ich habe einfach das Foto des Daches in Photoshop auf einer zweiten Ebene dupliziert, vertikal gespiegelt und dann die Ebenen zusammengefügt; in Lightroom habe ich dann das fertige Bild noch einmal gedreht.

Colonnade at the Neues Museum ("New Museum"). The Neues Museum is part of the Museumsinsel ("Museum Island"), a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Berlin's Mitte district. It was commissioned by King Frederick William IV of Prussia and planned and built by Friedrich August Stüler (a student of Karl Friedrich Schinkel) between 1843 and 1855. If you take a look at the photo in the first comment, you get a better idea of the surroundings; I took that photo at the same place, and the modern columns of the recently opened James Simon gallery which you see there form an architectural unity with the portico you see in this photo. Links, das rote Licht, ist die Stütze der Seilbahn (Bild vor ein paar Tagen). Links oben erkennt man die Bergstation des Nebelhorn-Sesselliftes. Der am hellsten beleuchtete Komplex besteht aus der Alpenvereins-Hütte "Edmund-Probst-Haus", erbaut im Jahr 1890, sowie dahinter so einer Art Disneyland für diejenigen, die eine so völlig andere Vorstellung von alpinen Natur haben: Seilbahnstation, Restaurants, Bars, Spielplatz, Entertainment, Kletterwand u.v.m..

Leider war die Marienbrücke wieder gesperrt und so musste ich einen ziemlich vereisten Hügel links neben der Brücke hochklettern – und wurde dann mit einer noch schöneren Aussicht für die nicht ganz ungefährliche Kletterpartie belohnt…
Der Alte Kranen in Würzburg ist ein Bau aus der Barockzeit, fertiggestellt 1773, und war ein Tretkran, der im Würzburger Hafen Güter bis ca. 1 t umschlagen konnte. Im Inneren (siehe Foto) befinden sich noch heute zwei mächtige Treträder von über 5 m Durchmesser, die von mehreren Männern zum Laufen gebracht wurden, wodurch eine Last gehoben oder gesenkt werden konnte. Der Kran ist noch heute funktionstüchtig. Eine Vorstellung von der Funktion gibt folgendes Video:

The Old Crane in Würzburg is a building from the Baroque period, completed in 1773, and handled goods in the harbour of Würzburg up to ca. 1 tonne. Inside (see photo), there are still today two treadmills, which were made to run by several men, enabling a load to be lifted or lowered. The crane is still in working order today.

I found the following a little interesting:
No other drink in book and film history is as famous as Bond's Vodka Martini. The agent licensed to kill has a very precise idea of how to mix this cocktail. The saying "Shaken, not stirred" is one of the most famous movie catchphrases of all time. Bond reaches for the glass on various occasions and in changing company. The name of the drink also causes further confusion: Martini is a very well-known vermouth brand, but Bond drinks his vodka martini entirely without this wine-containing ingredient. Kein anderer Drink der Buch- und Film-Geschichte ist so bekannt wie Bonds Wodka Martini. Der Agent mit der Lizenz zum Töten hat eine ganz genaue Vorstellung davon, wie dieser Cocktail zu mixen ist. Der Spruch "Geschüttelt, nicht gerührt" ist eines der berühmtesten Filmzitate aller Zeiten. Bond greift zu den verschiedensten Anlässen und in wechselnder Gesellschaft zum Glas. Er trinkt seinen Wodka Martini eisgekühlt, aber ohne Eis. In den Shaker wird also Eis getan, der Wodka Martini wird geschüttelt und schließlich das Eis abgefiltert. Der Name des Getränks sorgt zudem für weitere Verwirrung: Martini ist zwar eine sehr bekannte Wermut-Marke, dennoch trinkt Bond seinen Wodka Martini ganz ohne diese weinhaltige Zutat. Und James Bond wäre nicht James Bond, wenn er nicht noch ein Ass im Ärmel hätte: Biochemiker der Universität Western Ontario haben festgestellt, dass die geschüttelte Variante mit Wermut gesünder ist. Sie enthält neben dem zusätzlichen Sauerstoff auch mehr Antioxidantien, die den Körper vor freien Radikalen schützt.

Zu meiner Überraschung und Freude stellte ich während meines Sylt-Urlaubes fest, dass noch zwei weitere Maschinen von RP Railsystems leihweise im Sylt Shuttle Verkehr eingesetzt wurden. Am 30. April 2019 hatte ich glücklicherweise meine Kamera dabei, als 218 490 und 480 am Bahnübergang bei Archsum mit einem gut ausgelasteten Sylt Shuttle dem Festland entgegenstrebten. Das ozeanblau-beige Doppel versetzt einem in der Vorstellung um 40 Jahre zurück, als die Maschinen neu ausgeliefert wurden.
To my surprise and joy I noticed during my Sylt vacation that two more RP Railsystems machines were on loan in Sylt shuttle traffic. On April 30th 2019, I was lucky enough to have my camera with me when 218 490 and 480 were heading for the mainland with a well loaded Sylt Shuttle at the level crossing near Archsum. The ocean blue and beige double takes you back 40 years in the imagination when the machines were newly delivered.
Den äußeren Zustand der Häuser der Weissenhofsiedlung würde ich durchaus als Katastrophal bezeichnen. In anbetracht dessen, dass es sich bei dieser Siedlung um UNESCO Welterbe handelt, ist das ein Armutszeugnis für die Stadt Stuttgart. Ich habe mich deshalb auch schwer getan meine Aufnahmen zu veröffentlichen, wollte aber auch nicht auf die Präsentation dieser einzigartigen Architektur verzichten.Alles sieht noch viel schlimmer aus als hier gezeigt. Mit Nachbearbeitung konnte ich einiges kaschieren.
I would definitely describe the external condition of the houses on the Weissenhof estate as catastrophic. Considering that this settlement is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is a sad reflection on the city of Stuttgart. I therefore found it difficult to present my photographs, but I did not want to forego presenting this unique architecture.Everything looks much worse than shown here. I was able to conceal some of the damage with post-processing.

Der niederländische Architekt Jacobus Johannes Pieter Oud gehörte zur Gruppe ausgewählter Architekten, welche für Entwürfe der Weissenhofsiedlung angefragt wurden. Anfänglich erhielt J.J.P. Oud zwei separate Aufträge, welche den Bau einer freistehenden Villa und vier Reihenhäuser für Arbeiter vorsahen. Nach seiner Intervention wurde ihm stattdessen der Bau von 5 Reihenhäusern zugestanden. In seinem Entwurf verfolgt J.J.P. Oud das Ziel, eine kleine Wohnung als Synthese neuer Materialien, Konstruktionsmethoden und Formen zu entwerfen. Der Entwurf orientierte sich dabei an den Prinzipien der Einfachheit, Effizienz und Funktionalität. Der Entwurf für die Weissenhofsiedlung war als Typologie zur wiederholenden Anwendung gedacht. Zumal aber in der Weissenhofsiedlung lediglich eine Reihe errichtet wurde, lässt sich die Konzeption von J.J.P. Oud nur bedingt nachvollziehen. Nach seiner Vorstellung wären die Reihen so repetiert worden, dass die Gärten einer Reihe auf den Küchenhof der nächsten Reihe treffen würde.
Die fünf aneinander gereihten Häuser wurden in Stahlbeton nach dem Kossel-System erbaut. Das Kossel-System war in den 1920er Jahre neu, und erlaubte die monolithische Bauweise. Die Materialpalette wird erweitert durch Metall für Fenster- und Türrähmen, Ruberiod für das Flachdach und Sperrholz für die Türen.
The Dutch architect Jacobus Johannes Pieter Oud was one of the group of selected architects who were asked to design buildings for the Weissenhofsiedlung. Initially, J.J.P. Oud received two separate commissions, which included the construction of a detached villa and four terraced houses for workers. After his intervention, he was allowed to build 5 terraced houses instead. In his design, J.J.P. Oud persued the goal of designing a small apartment as a synthesis of new materials, construction methods and shapes. The design was based on the principles of simplicity, efficiency and functionality. The design for the Weissenhofsiedlung was intended as a typology for repeated use. Especially since only one row was built in the Weissenhofsiedlung, the concept of J.J.P. Oud only partially understandable. In his mind the rows would have been repeated so that the gardens of one row would meet the kitchen courtyard of the next row.
The five row houses were built in reinforced concrete according to the Kossel system. The Kossel system was new in the 1920s and allowed a monolithic construction. The range of materials is expanded to include metal for window and door frames, ruberiod for the flat roof and plywood for the doors.

Während der Reisende mit dem Laptop nur virtuell Dinge ansah, hatte ich die Vorstellung zu malen und richtig wild in Farben zu baden.

Luis, Bärbel und Dromi haben nun in der ersten Reihe neben den anderen Kindern im Kameltheater Platz genommen. Nach der launigen Einführung von Herrn Zöchling ging die lustige Show los. Die Kamele spielten das Stück: Ich bin ein Star !
Kaum zu glauben, aber die Kamele konnten sprechen !! 😂
Dazu bekamen sie im richtigen Moment Leckerlis, die sie genüsslich schmatzten, und zu diesen Lippenbewegungen waren die Stimmen von verschiedenen österreichischen Kabarettisten mit dem passenden Text zu hören. Luis, Bärbel, Dromi, wie auch wir waren von der unterhaltsamen Vorführung begeistert !! 👋
Luis, Bärbel and Dromi now took their seats in the front row next to the other children in the camel theatre. After Mr. Zöchling's humorous introduction, the funny show started. The camels performed the play: I am a star !

Diese Sumpfpflanze zieht sich nach der Blütezeit wieder in den Boden zurück und zeigt sich nur einmal im Frühjahr in voller Blüte .
Um den Titel und diese Tatsache im Bild zu integrieren wählte ich eine Doppelbelichtung aus 2 Bildern . Es kommt in Pastellfarben meiner Vorstellung schon sehr nahe . ( Schlangen-Knöterich )

This marsh plant retreats back into the ground after the flowering period and is only in full bloom once in spring.
