In a desperate attempt to save my career I seek legal advice. My lawyer tells me I owe you an apology. I see things differently but he gets his way in the end.
His law degree looks badly Photoshopped to me.
To escape the heatwave, we head to the dark canyons in the misty mountains but there's no room in the boat for me as Amanda, Wayne, and Adam Gibbs paddle off and leave me to brave the frigid river.
Tragically, I manage to drown my Osmo for the third time but still manage to produce my best image of 2021 in this magical slot canyon on Vancouver Island.
As if that wasn't enough of a landscape photography adventure, we take you deep into the old-growth rainforest to visit Canadas largest tree the 'Cheewat Giant'. It's almost as massive as Grumptons head.
What is a 'magic muffin' and who wins a free copy of my book? How high can my voice go while wading into icy waters?

Following a stunning winter ascent of Garbh Bheinn the day before, I had spent the evening in The Sligachan Hotel. After breakfast I headed out for a little dander and tried to capture some of Skye (and Scotlands!) most impressive scenery!

In de eerste week van juni stond er alweer een buitenlandtrip op het programma, wat vervelend! Dit keer hadden Matthijs en ik Jan Mark weten te ronselen om mee te gaan. Dit keer vlogen we vanaf Eindhoven naar het Poolse Katowice. Vandaar ging de reis met een huurauto naar Tsjechië, Slowakije om op de laatste dag via Polen terug te gaan. Tijdens de trip zou blijken dat we ook nog even tijd hadden voor een bliksembezoekje aan Hongarije… Ten opzichte van de trip naar Slovenië hadden we nu als mogelijk nadeel dat we een rondreis hadden uitgedacht en schuiven in de planning eigenlijk niet mogelijk zou zijn. We hielden daarom wel ons hart vast, want de weersverwachting was ook nu vooraf nog niet bepaald rooskleurig.
We vertrokken op maandag 2 juni 2025 rond de middag vanaf Eindhoven Airport en waren halverwege de middag in Katowice. Het idee was om rond de avondspits te starten met enkele Tsjechische Duikbrillen met moderne Dubbeldeksstammen rond Frýdlant, omdat ze daar dan elk half uur met zo’n trein rijden én het op de route lag richting het Zuid-Oosten van Tsjechië waar we na de avondspits nog naar toe zouden rijden. Eenmaal rond Frýdlant verdwenen net de laatste zonnestralen achter de bewolking en bleken de Duikbrillen ook nog eens aan de zuidzijde van de trein te staan, terwijl dit voorgaande jaren aan de noordzijde was. Het zag er ook niet naar uit dat het weer nog op zou knappen, dus besloten we vrijwel direct maar door te rijden naar ons overnachtingsadres in Újezdec u Luhačovic.
Toen we ongeveer halverwege tussen Frýdlant en Újezdec u Luhačovic ter hoogte van Jablůnka nad Bečvou reden, kwamen we een stukje parallel aan het spoor te rijden, precies op het moment dat de zon daar tussen de wolken tevoorschijn kwam. Bij een overweggetje werd gestopt en de dienstregeling van de treinen geraadpleegd. Het bleek dat EuroCity 120 uit Púchov over ongeveer 10 minuten bij ons zou zijn. We konden aan de zonkant van het spoor de boog doorlopen, waardoor we een perfecte zonstand ten opzicht van het spoor hadden. We hoefden nu niet lang meer te wachten om toch deze dag nog een toffe zonplaat te maken:
Getrokken door de ZSSK 361 125 is EuroCity 120 op 2 juni 2025 onderweg vanuit Púchov naar Valašské Meziříčí, wanneer de trein in een heerlijk avondlicht door Jablůnka nad Bečvou komt gereden.

This was taken in front of my house last night. It usually isn't cloudy like this in the summer time on the Oregon high desert. I planted these trees a little more than a year ago. I use these photos along with my wildlife photos to illustrate my vlog on youtube called Summer Lake Photog.

More opportunity for foggy woodland photography presented it self recently, and with a few hours spare I made my way down to the local river and woodland to photograph the trees and details in the early morning mist and fog that was hugging the meadows and woodland either side of river Avon in Pershore.
Although I didn't find the image I was looking for, I made use of my tried and tested process to come away with a series of images that I really enjoyed taking.
Photographing woodland is one of the hardest genres of landscape photography for me personally. Finding compositions in the chaos of a woodland landscape can be a daunting prospect. It's about looking, taking your time and trying to create a little bit of order in a wild, chaotic environment. More often than not, its the details that are more important, rather than the bigger vision.
