Flowers Need Rain
💋Drumknott
I need you like the flowers need the rain
Need you like the sun when the clouds turn grey
Oh you’re like the blood running through my veins
I’ll love you until now and forever away
If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you built within
Come tumbling down and a new world will begin

Visualize yourself walking on the sand, listening to the water splash against the shore.
Visualize swimming, in the oceans, in the sky
Visualize sitting by a beach fire, warming up from the chilly air.
Visualize happiness that won't be suppressed, laughing.
It is the end of the day when the sun sets low, and the mood is sweet and peaceful.
When I saw this I wasn't sure what it was or what it represented as workers were finishing the installation. Since then I've learned that it represents data visualization it reflects the global impact of food production and consumption on the environment. Part of the "Around The Table" exhibit at the New York Botanical Garden. I still don't understand it but it's nice to look at.
I'm still trying to find the sweet spot, where serenity and beauty intersect. I think I'm getting close.

Photographing some old cars and other items, I decided to make it a bit more of a challenge by shooting in B&W, and set my camera to display my pictures in B&W to help visualize what the monochrome images would look like. Taking the "distractions" of colour out of the capture can help to see the available light better.

I have seen this shot done a hundred times and wanted to give it a try. It was not as easy as it looks! Getting a ring to stand in a book and getting the right shadow is a bit tricky. I also wanted to find a page in the book that enhanced the image and I think I found one...:)
I had this picture in my head for about two weeks and waited for the right conditions.

Overcast day in Sunnyside, Georgia
Gathered yesterday with a group of other flickr group members (Newcastle Sundance) for a sunrise meet at Merewether NSW.
We were rewarded with a beautiful sunrise; give that the forecast was far less promising (it was supposed to be rainy and strong winds - they arrived later in the afternnon!)
For best result - please view Large on Black!!
Canon 7D + Tokina 11-16 lens @ 11mm.
10 second exposure at f22 ISO100.
Lee ND.6 + GNDH.9 used.
Hope you enjoy it!
This 1985 Blue Bird Wanderlodge is the perfect antique vehicle for a car/truck/train/bus/rv show. Just sit under the awning and relax with a cool beverage. Ahhhhh.
When I pulled into the parking lot (you can see a bit of it on the left), I saw this RV and knew I had to photograph it. As Ansel would say, I pre-visualized it, including the sepia.
Not a great picture, but *I* love it.

As I walked around the railing for this overlook to Diablo Lake along the North Cascades Scenic Highway, I tried out different angles and views to best visualize this mountain setting, especially with the outcropping to the near front. While I couldn't eliminate the view with the evergreens rising up, I could take advantage of them to complement what amounted to an arrowhead or point. A version of a leading line to draw a person's eye to then look across Diablo Lake and take in the ridges and mountains. For post-processing, I used some CEP filters (Low Key, Polarization and Graduated Neutral Density) which seemed to best bring out the look for this mountain setting.
I needed to go big with the visualization. So I did and this is what my mind saw.

Time to get back to my series of candid portraits, "Akiba Window 2017". Once again, I plan to post five images in succession.

I was astounded by Bill Rankin's map of Chicago's racial and ethnic divides and wanted to see what other cities looked like mapped the same way. To match his map, Red is White, Blue is Black, Green is Asian, Orange is Hispanic, Gray is Other, and each dot is 25 people. Data from Census 2000. Base map © OpenStreetMap, CC-BY-SA

This is what we visualized for the trip, the lavender field =)
But it wasn’t that easy to find a good composition as the one you see from Provence..
Once again, Fujis Sensia has some lovely color rendition =)

This is an apparition that momentarily appeared in the sky over Nova Scotia, a portal to a higher spiritual dimension of reality. Or so I wish. Actually, it's a photo of an image on the computer monitor, an animated visual from the Milkdrop visualization software program associated with Winamp.
