Brighton's Run2Music was a great opportunity for me to get out and practice with my new gear. Runners could do 5k, 10k or a half Marathon and the musical course with disco was a circular route around the end of Madeira Drive. So I was in the centre and able to capture runners over and over again. I thought I'd practice my over exposures, double exposures and a few normal shots.
Both were OK and sharing the garden as normal later on. I guess that the vixen will keep her two cubs away from the garden with the cat (not ours) around.

A lot of history attached to the Gloster Meteor range of aircraft that first flew in March 1943. Nearly 4,000 of all variants were built. Some were still flying with the RAF in a target towing role in the 1980's. The Australian's used a few Meteors in the Korean War and they had active service with other nations in local wars.

Sorghum seemed to be a favourite grain of the weaver birds as dozens of them were foraging in these fields.

The H van is now a very popular choice for street food and fast food outlet conversions. I like the colour co-ordinated power lead snaking its way to this van.
The Citroen H van was first seen in 1947 with production ending in 1981. Not sold in the UK as a new vehicle back then though.

Domestic cattle require regular bathing during the extreme summers of India. This helps in preventing heat stress that hampers milk productivity and can also cause severe health issues for the animals.

Just over 115,000 Ford Popular 100E cars were built between 1959 and 1962. They did have some improvements over the earlier 100E models including better brakes.

I think that this is the first time that I have ever seen a St John Ambulance vehicle traveling at speed with blue lights and sirens. Peugeot Boxer Ambulance LR14 OBW .
In the background is ONO 59, a bus with history. It is a 1949 Bristol K5G that had been in service with Eastern National. In 1967 it set out from this very location on a round the world trip that lasted about 2 years. This is The Elms public house in Leigh-On-Sea, Essex.

Sorghum is a drought resistant cereal crop. This makes it a very useful farm crop which can thrive in hot and dry regions of the world.

The darkness of the night provided respite to these walking migrants from the unbearable heat of the day, and an opportunity to dodge the police barriers that would otherwise turn them back towards the city. The bright lights of the city that had once attracted them were left behind as they now chose to walk away in the dark.

The 121 was the base model of the 120 series introduced in 1956. Rather looks like this particular car may have more than base model specifications now..
Very study car with a good reputation. I never got to drive one, but travelled as a passenger in a couple of them. Last produced in 1970.
A Nepalese dancer performing in a traditional group dance at BOBMC-RM in Pokhara, Nepal.
An interesting thing about the dancers was that their group comprised men and women of varied ages. Some dancers were quite senior while others looked really young. The gentle pace of the dance meant that the seniors and youngsters were on the same page.
People usually differ in their capabilities, whether inherently or induced by the vagaries of time. This can be frustrating for the driven. But then, beautiful things can also be created if one slows down for the disparate, to forge meaningful collaborations.

Mona was built in 1951. With a high bow and low stern I'm guessing she was originally a commercial working boat rather than a pleasure boat.
Probably a tribute to the high regard that the Citroen H Van has these days. A lookalike ice cream van.
Not exactly the most attractive Grade II listed structure that you will ever come across. The section of the pier head nearest the camera is the Prince George Extension from the late 1920's. The wierd and wonderful modern building behind that is the Royal Pavilion from 2012. The basic structure of the pier as we know it today is from the late 1880's. The origins of the first wooden pier go back to 1829.

Forecars were made in the 1890's and Edwardian era mainly by motorcycle manufacturers. Rex was one such company who started out in Birmingham during 1899. The passenger in a Forecar sat in front of the engine in a very exposed position. The Rex company also made bicycles and motor assisted bicycles.

The short lived Rockne brand name was a subsidery of Studebaker named after a famous college football coach of the 1920's, Knute Rockne. Sadly he died in 1931, whilst onboard a Fokker Trimotor aircraft that broke up in flight, before the Rockne brand named cars were launched for sale.
The information sheet on the front of this car says that is the only one of its type in the UK and had spent 50 years of its life in South Africa.
XS 587 seen in in target towing livery at the Gatwick Aviation Museum.
The first DH110 Sea Vixen flew in 1951. However they did not enter service until 1959. The last of them were retired in 1972. The Sea Vixen photographed here had served onboard HMS Victorious and HMS Eagle before conversion to a target towing role.
145 DH110 Sea Vixens were made. I suspect the type was already obsolete when it first entered service with the major aviation advances that had taken place in the 1950's.

The information board says that this tractor entered service in 1962 and can travel in either direction up to a speed of just over 26 mph. This tractor had served with the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Engineers during its service life. It was also used in beach landing exercises in a track laying role.

Located in the Thames Estuary off the coast of the Isle of Sheppey. The American liberty ship SS Richard Montgomery ran aground in 1944 whilst following incorrect berthing instructions that were issued to the ship. Carrying a cargo of mixed ordanance high explosives it has been an ongoing issue ever since. A considerable amount of explosives are still on board and if it was to explode the blast radius is estimated to be 12 miles. Fallout from the resulting dust plume may well fall on the capital city of London and a tsunami style wave created.

Steam locomotive Ajax working the remaining one mile section of the railway at the Historic Dockyard, Chatham. Back in its naval base days there were about seventeen miles of mainline gauge rail track within the dockyard.
The 0-4-0ST locomotive Ajax was built in 1941 by Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns Ltd. Delivered new to Chatham Naval Dockyard it remained in service until 1984. All other steam locomotives within the dockyard were retired in the early 1970's.
