📝 Artist Statement:

“The Moment Before the Moment” captures the exact second when awareness shatters illusion a suspended realization that time is not slipping away, it’s crushing us. The figure, emerging from the earth with horror-struck clarity, is both victim and prophet. The falling debris and ascending hourglass suggest that entropy and memory are interchangeable time doesn’t just pass, it breaks you into pieces.

This piece continues my exploration of psychological surrealism through the iconography of dirt, flesh, and sky. I’m particularly interested in the idea that trauma exists before the impact in anticipation, in knowing.

I created this work in the spirit of reclaiming dread. It is not meant to comfort. It is meant to witness.

Artist Statement:

There is a moment in every unraveling where instinct overrides sense.

She doesn’t remember falling — only the cold.

The birds didn’t flee the violence. They circled it.

She thinks maybe she did too.

️ Artist Statement:

In Final Grain, the finality of time takes form as an hourglass tipping at the very apex of tension. The subject’s face is frozen in a scream that isn’t about pain, but recognition a sudden confrontation with the last moment of agency. The moment before the inevitable.

This work confronts not just mortality but the awareness of mortality. The hourglass doesn’t measure time it controls fate. The earth-like texture of the figure and surrounding sludge connects body to soil, decay, and inevitability. Like many of my pieces, it functions as a visual scream: not to be understood, but to be felt.

It continues my Collapse Series, where surreal landscapes, flesh, and physics blur together in the psychological theatre of dread and divine absurdity.
