A time line project for my Visual Communications class. Bicycles in France 1860-1870.
The Frenchmen Pierre Michaux and Pierre Lallement took France for a ride when they invented the bicycle during the1860s, which they initially called the velocipede. This new contraption started a revolution in the world of locomotion and was perceived as complex in its scientific workings yet simple enough for a young child to maneuver. Because everyone could operate a bicycle, it became a social tool that created communities by bringing people together. Men, women, and children could be caught peddling down the French boulevards not only during their leisure time, but during work hours and also as a racing sport. La Vie Parisienne described the bicycle as “the amusement of golden youth and the dream of employees.” The affordability of the bicycle allowed everyone the luxury of efficient transportation and its novel design set French communities ahead of their time in a social and mechanical context.
There are trillions of microorganisms living on and inside our body which are essential to our health and happiness. A better understanding of human-microbe interactions could prevent many health issues. This work aims to translate microbial processes into visually perceivable experiences. The shown display enables microorganisms to create individual shapes. The viewer witnesses microbial creation in real time.

a visual experience as a box, to Muhammad Sultan's album called "Ahla Leila".
it was made as an assignment for my graphic design school.
the point is to give a Mediterranean feeling (because the album genre is Egyptian music). i wanted to give a sense of sweetness (like Arabian sweets and shisha tobacco) and to emphasize the "mess" that you can often find in a egyptian market. blue glasses were used in order to give a bit of the sea.
also, i chosed using the blue glass and ceramic that reminds me of those used in arabian homes (the ceramic is waste that i found in several ceramic stores).
they were attached to a box with plaster (giving the feeling of an authentic wall). the font was specifically chosen because it resemblance to the Arab type, then copyed by hand to the ceramic. (written on the top - "Muhammad Sultan", on the bottom - "Ahla Leila").
