The Low-Residency MFA in Visual Studies welcomes artist & designer Shirley Tse for a discussion of her work as part of the 2014 Summer Graduate Visiting Artist Lecture Series.
Los Angeles–based artist Shirley Tse has long concerned herself with the polysemous nature of things. In the past, Tse has used synthetic polymer (plastic) to address the concept of multiplicities and competing ideologies. In her new work, Tse utilizes “Quantum Shirley” as a generative conceptual framework that allows her to produce work on an on-going basis addressing the multi-dimensionality of experience, and the negotiation of realities.
Shirley Tse is also exhibiting at PNCA’s Feldman Gallery + Project Space, Quantum Shirley, showing through August 10, 2014 with an opening reception on July 3 for First Thursday. Tse is an artist-in-residence with PNCA’s Low Residence MFA in Visual Studies program. Photos by Sarah Meadows '08.

I've had an odd name my entire life. I never got personalized pencils like all the other kids did at school. Teachers could never pronounce it right and if they did, they asked me what it was short for.
Nothing. My name is Hallie. Yes, just like Halle Berry. Only she doesn't spell it right.
People may not be able to pronounce my name and I may not have personalized pencils but...
I HAVE A LAKE!
and an optimist club...which is the funny part, because most that know me realize that the words Hallie and optimist do not go together.
