Jeffrey Gibson (b. 1972) is an interdisciplinary artist whose hybrid visual language draws from American, Indigenous, and Queer histories with references to popular subcultures, literature, and global artistic traditions. Gibson's practice is also informed by his international upbringing in South Korea, Germany, and the United States.
A member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and of Cherokee descent, Gibson reveals how taste, notions of authenticity, and persistent stereotypes of Indigenous and Queer people are used to delegitimize cultural expressions that exist outside the mainstream. Within his multimedia work, intertribal aesthetics, beadwork, textiles, and found objects from the past two centuries commingle with the visual languages of global modernism. Expanding Indigenous traditions of painting and weaving, Gibson's use of pattern and abstract geometries confronts the chromophobia of contemporary art. He combines these myriad influences in artworks that reflect the vibrant realities of Indigenous communities in the United States, a form of cultural critique that engages with complex histories rather than erasing them.
the space in which to place me transforms the U.S. Pavilion into an embodiment of Gibson's radically inclusive vision for the future: a space in which Indigenous art and a broad spectrum of cultural expressions and identities are central to the human experience. The exhibition honors this complexity by incorporating the voices of writers, poets, and songwriters, as well as excerpts from the founding documents of the United States. Gibson probes the distance between the ideals of democracy and the ways it has been enacted. In so doing, he wrestles with his own complicated relationship to his American identity as a Queer, Indigenous person. By setting the stage for joyful and participatory engagement, Gibson's installation embodies his ethos of acceptance and love and extends the space of catharsis to all of us.

Welcome to the "Chronicles of the Aether: Gears of Reverie," a visual odyssey that weaves through the smoky alleys of a bygone epoch where the steam-driven heart of progress beats in rhythm with the human soul. Each image is a portal to an era of intricate machinery and unbridled imagination, capturing the delicate interplay between the mechanical and the mystical. These artworks are more than mere representations; they are narratives frozen in time, where every gear, every whisper of steam tells a story of dreams and darkness, of an age both splendid and sombre.
Poem:
In the gloaming of gas-lit streets they stir,
The ticking sentinels of time's blur.
Brass and copper, intricate filigree,
Wrought by hands unseen, a technotic spree.
Beneath the skin of the world we know,
Lies the aether's pulse, a ceaseless glow.
Gears of reverie spin tales untold,
Of valiant hearts and quests bold.
Through the mists of this steam-soaked realm,
Visions emerge, with gears at the helm.
In this chronicle where shadows play,
The aether whispers secrets of an age gone astray.

At Balcones de la Musui Inn in Mérida, Venezuela.
That Inn is really a something. All the place is full with antiques. And the balcony is WOW! because in a risk and i think you can see at least 400 meters down to the main road.
