A handheld long exposure shot to capture the movement of the carousel. Not travelling with the tripod at the moment, as A I travel light and only with a carry on, and B, in the past I have taken it away for months on end and never used it! In front of the Royal Palace, Madrid, Spain.
After a few unsuccessful attempts over the years I have finally made it to Madrid. Loving the architecture here, as in most of Spain.

Palacio Real de Madrid | Madrid 2016 This next series of photographs is from my first visit to Madrid, in November 2016. It was a short business trip (remember those?) but I managed to add on a couple of days so I could explore the city. I fell in love with it at once - its vibrancy, the intimacy and grandeur, the food, the bustle, and of course the art museums. I love travel, but there is always something, too, of the outsider looking in - a perspective that is nicely captured I'd like to think in this photograph taken between the railings of the Royal Palace.

Madrid’s grand central square is found in the heart of Hapsburg Madrid, the oldest part of the city. Steeped in history, the bustling plaza is the perfect place to begin your stroll through one of Madrid’s most charming districts.

The rooftop of the Círculo de Bellas Artes has one of the most spectacular views of Madrid, an incomparable perspective of the urban fabric of the city, with views of the Gran Vía, the street sometimes referred to as the "Spanish Broadway", which is one of the city's most important shopping areas

The Palacio Real by Night | Madrid 2016
One of the many things I love about Madrid is how the streets at night are thronged with people, even in November, when it's a little chilly - what's a little chill, life goes on!

Consecrated by Pope John Paul II in 1993, the first stone of this cathedral was laid in 1883 and was inspired by the French Gothic of the 13th century, with elements from the cathedrals of Reims, Chartres and León. It is located adjacent to the Royal Palace of Madrid.
