Yering Gorge Cottages provides a stunning natural setting where bushland intersects with the Yarra River against the backdrop of the Christmas Hills and Dividing Ranges. Guests have the rare opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Australia’s most iconic wildlife during their stay, such as this Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo.
The sulphur-crested cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) is a relatively large white cockatoo found in wooded habitats in Australia, and New Guinea and some of the islands of Indonesia. They can be locally very numerous, leading to them sometimes being considered pests. A highly intelligent bird, they are well known in aviculture, although they can be demanding pets.

St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Prahran, Melbourne, is a significant example of 19th-century ecclesiastical architecture. Designed by Terry and Oakden, the original bluestone church was formally opened in 1878. It features an distinctive Gothic style, notable for its decorated tracery and architectural elements. The church underwent a major transformation after a fire in 1982 destroyed much of its nave. Rather than complete reconstruction, the damaged section was converted into an open courtyard. The street-facing front was then redeveloped into multi-level office accommodation. Despite these changes, the original chancel at the rear remains the dedicated worship space. This blend of old and new reflects a unique adaptation of a heritage building. St. Matthew's continues to serve as an active Anglican community. Its distinct history makes it a notable landmark in Prahran.
