The most spectacular sunset colors are typically when the sun is no longer visible and below the horizon, afterglow in the twilight zone.
This rocky outcrop is actually a temple on a little island normally surrounded by the sea. The rocky seabed is however exposed at low-tide as per this image.
Was searching for an angle to frame the sacred island when I noticed how the little tide pools on a section of the exposed rocky seafloor shone like mirrors against the spectacular but fleeting light at dusk.
Quite happy with the composition with the little tide pools as foreground interest with the temple against the quality of the evening light.
Meanwhile Samyang has just announced their new AF 135mm f1.8 FE prime lens at a reasonable 772g and $999, this should be very interesting especially for those like me who like such a lens but don't use it often enough to justify or need the Sony 135mm f1.8 GM. The Batis 135mm is an entire stop slower at f2.8 and doubled the price, yikes! I really like my older Samyang manual focus 135mm f2.0 originally designed for DSLR, this is widely regarded as one of Samyang's best lens and a real steal for the money. The new Samyang AF 135mm f1.8 also has 11 aperture blades compared to just 9 in the older version.

Hestercombe House, Nr. Taunton, Somerset
Hestercombe House is nestled in the parish of West Monkton approx. 13 miles away from Taunton, Somerset. Originally built in the 16th century for the Warre family where it remained for approx. 400 years. The house was enlarged and changes were made, alas that work is no longer visible, due to extensive renovation work carried out in and around 1875. The house today is a mixture of different styles of architecture, Neoclassical, Italianate and French but pleasing to the eye.
Sometime in the 18th century a watermill was built, today this is now the visitor’s centre.
The garden when originally set out consisted of a grand cascade, a Gothic Alcove, a Tuscan Temple Arbour, several Ponds and a folly Mausoleum. A formal parterre was added in the 1870’s. Between 1904-1906, an Edwardian Garden was laid out by Gertrud Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens doyens of the Art and Crafts Movement.
Lutyens designed the Orangery (Grade 1 listed). The ‘Great Plat’ featured Gertrude Jekyll’s herbaceous planting. Unfortunately very little of this work exists today. By the early 1970’s the formal gardens were largely run down. It was then that Somerset CC along with the Fire Brigade that restoration work started. In 1995 a project to restore the Landscape garden, in 1998 The Great Plat was replanted. In the same year work on the Victorian Terrace commenced and the fountain repaired.
Another garden where each year more improvements have been completed to make it a great place to visit. This is the 2nd of 2 postings.
Undine Falls on Lava Creek

Undine (UNdean) Falls, near the Grand Loop Road east of Mammoth Hot Springs, in the northern part of Yellowstone, was a pleasant surprise when we found it last July, as I had neither heard nor seen much about this waterfall. Like many Yellowstone waterfalls, Undine Falls are open to the sunlight; happily, at least most of this waterfall was in the shade for a brief period while we were there. Lava Creek drops about 60 in the three tiers of the waterfall. Although near the road, the falls are not visible from the road.

Still waiting for Spring color here so thought I would dig up one from my fly fishing trip last August (017).
The creek is Fox Creek in Montana and the mountains is Hunter's Peak in Wyoming.
I have no idea who the fisherman is but he fit the scene. If it were me I would of had a fish on the end of that hook.
I probably din't post before because I would have liked his fly rod tp be more visible but got lost against the rock backy background.
The tower was built in 1305 by the Pisans for the defence of the city of Cagliari. It's one of the landmarks and icons of Cagliari as it lies in the highest place of the citadel and therefore is visible fom the rest of the city.

Generally, not visible, SAR arc was very visible. SAR is an abbreviation for Stable Auroral Red Arcs. Although SAR Arcs are not the Aurora itself, they form during geomagnetic storms. They occur when solar particles interact with oxygen in the ionosphere, heating the oxygen and generating a stable red glow above our heads, hence the name “Stable Auroral Red.”

This is a downstream range light. Located at the southwestern tip of Île du Moine about 7 km (4.5mi) east northeast of Sainte-Anne-de-Sorel. Built in 1906. It is still an active aid to navigation.
Focal Plane: 13 meters (43 ft) above water level.
Light: Continuous green light visible only on the range line.
Tower: 5 meter (18ft) square wood tower mounted on a square
There are many strange rocks created by coastal erosion for millions of years at Aoshima beach, Miyazaki.
Most of these rocks are visible at ebb tide.

This was this height of the coverage yesterday during the solar eclipse from where I was viewing. I used an inexpensive white-light filter. I started shooting shortly after it started until the maximum coverage. There were several sun spots visible but most are covered by the moon at this point. A few are visible on the far left side if you zoom.
It was incredible to feel the difference in warmth from when it started to when the sun was blocked like this. It went from a sweltering day (by Canadian standards) to being quite comfortable when partially covered.

The New Lighthouse at Cape Point is perched precariously on cliffs, overlooking the entrance to Table Bay. The light of the new Cape Point lighthouse is the most powerful on the South African coast, with a range of 63 kilometres (39 mi; 34 nmi) and an intensity of 10 megacandelas in each flash. At 87 metres above sea level, the new lighthouse 162 metres lower in altitude than its predecessor so as to remain visible during low cloud.
It shot here from 725 metres or just under half a mile to its west.
Yeshe, a six-year-old boy in front of his parents' house near the village of Aba in the Serta Golok region. In between the various ceremonies and events to celebrate the Tibetan New Year, we walked outside the village to various people and homesteads. Yeshe was here alone but neighboring friends or acquaintances were near him and talked to him and I had to do something so that he could look at me in an unbiased and natural way. He had the amulet around his neck under his jacket and the people around him folded down the collar of his jacket to make it visible. It shows the Panchen Lama, who is the highest spiritual authority for the Tibetans after the Dalai Lama.
