The other day I revisited my favorite "Mediterranean Sky" shipwreck after a long time.
Strong winds had drifted dust all the way from Africa to Greece and visibility was really low, so I thought that this might give a new perspective to this already well known to me place.
Well, it was not exactly as I was hoping to be, but it was quite different from the typical Greek weather, so finally I got a few photos that I'm pleased with...
Found this building many moons ago in Chatt.,Tn. I thought it was odd to see danger, Elvis, and Mickey together. I have seen posters by Zero all over the city for years.
Redstart (F) - Phoenicuros Phoenicuros
The common redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus), or often simply redstart, is a small passerine bird in the redstart genus Phoenicurus. Like its relatives, it was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family, (Turdidae), but is now known to be an Old World flycatcher (family Muscicapidae).
Common redstarts prefer open mature birch and oak woodland with a high horizontal visibility and low amounts of shrub and understorey especially where the trees are old enough to have holes suitable for its nest. They prefer to nest on the edge of woodland clearings. In Britain it occurs primarily in upland areas less affected by agricultural intensification, but further east in Europe also commonly in lowland areas, including parks and old gardens in urban areas. They nest in natural tree holes, so dead trees or those with dead limbs are beneficial to the species; nestboxes are sometimes used. A high cover of moss and lichen is also preferred. They also use mature open conifer woodland, particularly in the north of the breeding range. Management to thin out the trees is thus favoured.
In England, where it has declined by 55% in the past 25 years, the Forestry Commission offers grants under a scheme called England's Woodland Improvement Grant (EWIG); as does Natural Englands Environmental Stewardship Scheme. It is a very rare and irregular breeding bird in Ireland, with between one and five pairs breeding in most years, mainly in County Wicklow.
It is a summer visitor throughout most of Europe and western Asia (east to Lake Baikal), and also in northwest Africa in Morocco. It winters in central Africa and Arabia, south of the Sahara Desert but north of the Equator, from Senegal east to Yemen. It is widespread as a breeding bird in Great Britain, particularly in upland broadleaf woodlands and hedgerow trees, but in Ireland it is very local, and may not breed every year.
The males first arrive in early to mid April, often a few days in advance of the females. Five or six light blue eggs are laid during May, with a second brood in mid summer in the south of the breeding range. It departs for Africa between mid-August and early October. It often feeds like a flycatcher, making aerial sallies after passing insects, and most of its food consists of winged insects. The call is chat-like and the alarm a plaintive single note, wheet, like that of many other chats.
The male’s song is similar to that of the Robin, but never more than a prelude, since it has an unfinished, feeble ending.
A deep mist--the kind that clings to your body like wet plastic wrap hangs over the area known as Mystic Falls in Yellowstone National Park.
The mood of this image strikes a little close to home these days. The River Fire erupted near us on Wednesday forcing us to flee our rental cottage in Peardale. Things looked pretty dicey for a while on Wednesday, but miraculously our incredible local fire group was able to quickly knock down the worst of it. We were able to return home last night.
The worst of it was, we had to drive 100 miles to find a hotel room and it was in the middle of a veritable homeless camp. I guess we fit right in.
Happy Fence Friday everyone.

Snowy owl perched on a runway visual range transmissometer at Toronto Airport. It's used to measure visibility when the weather is bad.
Took this one from the cable car on the way up Mount Stanserhorn in Switzerland. Unfortunately the weather was not so great.
Happy Blue Monday 😊😊😍
Yesterday we drove in the pouring rain with little visibility and I tried to capture what we could only just see!
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
I visited the north mountain of Taipei basin last weekend and snap a shot of this bridge from high angle. Taipei is very beautiful from viewing there.
上週末終於首次登上硬漢嶺,我覺得比九五峰還累,能見度雖然有30公里,但是拍101還是很霧,有點失望,再加上風超大,不利長曝,只好拉高ISO...

This morning the fog was incredibly dense, less than 1/4 of a mile of visibility. The blue light was amazing. Total silence except for drops of water into the lake. Magical really, until I had to go to my real job. Maybe someday...
This was shot through the windshield of the car and the camera had trouble focusing on something with these whiteout conditions. I decided the soft image added to the poor visibility in the scene. So I gave it an added aged look in the monochrome conversion and a bit of grain for Sliders Sunday.
Here I am standing on the edge of Lake Michigan during a polar vortex. The wind and blowing snow made it nearly impossible to get one shot without snow completely covering my lens. But somehow I managed to get a few. The sun was trying to shine thru the clouds at sunset. Snow squalls come and go making a very dramatic stormy feel to it.
In the most dismal of conditions in low mist with hardly any visibility, 35018, 'British India Line', crosses Ribblehead Viaduct working the Dalesman 1Z52 Chester-Carlisle charter. Having driven all the way from South Wales to make it for the shot, I was pleased at least to be able to get this in such dreadful conditions. Best viewed large.
Juvenile Bald Eagle flying by in the fog. Hopefully we will see some sun for a few minutes this week. Central Bucks PA.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. On a great day street shooting with Mister G.C. this guy caught my eye for a shot. I found his face and expression fascinating and he stood out beautifully with his hi-viz coat. Enjoy!
These snow banks are found along the sand dunes of Lake Huron. The sand is what causes the caramel colored swirls in the snow carved out by the wind after the snow plow has sliced a section off on a previous day. We had a window of opportunity to drive to the shore yesterday but it wasn’t long before it started to snow again. We made it home on time with good visibility and then to shovel more snow in our driveway. I liked this beige/blue mood to the winter scene. This has been a winter of many moods.
