It started with one pumpkin.
That's it. One cute little pumpkin and one innocent idea for a picture.
Somewhere between picking it up and wandering farther into the patch, though, I apparently forgot how to behave. 😂 The sun was sinking lower, everything had that perfect orange October glow, and the deeper I wandered, the more it felt like the pumpkin patch was changing right along with me.
First came Bewitching. ✨
For a minute, I wasn't lost in a creepy pumpkin patch at all. Maybe I was the little witch who lived there. Maybe all those pumpkins were mine, the shadows listened to me, and anything hiding beyond the fence knew better than to come any closer.
I was feeling pretty confident about that theory...
Until All Hallows. 🎃
Suddenly the shadows looked a little darker. The trees looked a little creepier. And that pumpkin I had been carrying around became my emotional-support pumpkin.
Don't judge me. He was doing a fantastic job. 😂
By the time Ghostly Night rolled around, I was pretty sure something was watching me.
So naturally, I grabbed two pumpkins and covered my eyes with them.
Because everyone knows that if I can't see the ghost, the ghost legally cannot haunt me. 👻
I don't make the rules.
Somewhere after that, fear apparently turned into acceptance because Monster Party was less "please don't eat me" and more "okay, where are we partying?" If the monsters were coming out, I might as well look cute when they got there.
And then there was Zombie Fright.
At that point, I'd been in the pumpkin patch too long. I had two pumpkins, absolutely no intention of giving either of them back, and whatever sanity I'd walked in with had officially disappeared somewhere between the fence and the jack-o'-lanterns. ♀️😂
So if you happen to wander through a pumpkin patch one October evening and see a tiny elf running around in a ridiculously cute outfit carrying pumpkins...
No, you didn't. 🎃
And if you hear something following behind you?
Run.
I'm keeping the pumpkins. 😂
