Museo de Historia del Arte celebra su aniversario con una exposición de Tiziano
El Kunsthistorisches Museum Viena (KHM) conmemora en 2021 el 130 aniversario de su inauguración, acaecida el 17 de octubre de 1891 en presencia del emperador Francisco José I. A partir del mes de octubre lo celebrará con una gran exposición dedicada al famoso pintor veneciano Tiziano (hacia el 1488/90-1576). Lo más destacado son la sesentena de cuadros que muestran de manera especial la imagen de la mujer en la obra de Tiziano y sus contemporáneos Jacopo Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese, Paris Bordone y Lorenzo Lotto.
Fue precisamente Tiziano quien supo plasmar a la mujer de una manera impactante y presentarla como ser intelectual y elegante, pero también idealizado y sensual. La muestra ilustra la mujer como tal, pero también la moda del Alto Renacimiento, los elegantes tejidos, los peinados, los ricos ornamentos y las perlas. Varias obras excepcionales del pintor que se encuentran en algunos de los principales museos del mundo (National Gallery de Londres, Metropolitan Museum of Art de Nueva York o Musée du Louvre de París) se trasladarán en otoño a Viena. A estos se añadirán las pinturas de la colección del KHM. La exposición será, sin duda, un auténtico gran éxito.

Another archives from the shot: A Ruby-Throated Hummingbird warns off another as it passes by. The vast majority of photos that I take that are not tack sharp are instantly deleted. Sometimes the camera creates a brush painting effect that I cannot explain nor care to learn how to do, or make it stop. Most may not, but I like it!

Flickr staff sent me an email saying, among other things: "Your account was brought to our attention and upon review, we determined that your content and/or behavior was in violation of the Guidelines and Terms of Service. Specifically, the following photo was found to be in violation: www.flickr.com/photos/145003604@N02/51902747612/ Please be aware that any subsequent violation of the Flickr Community Guidelines or Terms could result in termination of your account without further notice. Regards, Flickr Staff"
The photo that was specifically "found to be in violation" is the one preceding this one with the title "Solidarity with Ukraine! Down with the criminal state of Russia!"
I sent the flickr staff the following reply: "I wonder very much what is wrong with the photo complained about. Is it forbidden in this community to express solidarity with Ukraine, which was invaded by Russia in a way that is illegal under international law, i.e. criminal?" I have not yet received an answer.
This war of aggression was a crime committed by the Russian state from the very beginning, not to mention war crimes such as the deliberate murders of fleeing civilians or the Bucha massacre. As the flickr staff hasn't replied yet, I don't know who brought my account to their attention. But I can imagine what kind of person this was: either a brainwashed person who believes Putin's propaganda to the letter, or the kind of Russian diplomat who in all seriousness calls a red paint bag attack on the entrance of the Russian Embassy in Vienna in protest against this war a "barbaric act" (as happened on March 6).
But what I don't understand at all and find extremely disappointing and disconcerting: that the flickr staff falls for this game and now threatens me.
Copyright Violation!! depicts a portrait of the artist Claude Monet (1840-1926) as he paints the sculpture by Johnson entitled If It Were Time, which is in turn based on Monet’s painting entitled Terrace at Sainte-Adresse. When an edition of If It Were Time was on view at the Corcoran Gallery of Art during Johnson’s exhibition, Beyond the Frame (September 2003 - January 2004) it included this portrait of the French artist “violating” Johnson’s copyright. Through this installation the viewer is playfully confronted by the question of what constitutes an original work of art.
Trying something completely different.
As I was taking some soup it looked really photogenic. There was no way I wasn't going to snap a picture of it!
I don't usually photograph food but this just caught my eye in a way that I couldn't pass the opportunity.

The church building was built from 1829 to 1832 in the Federal architectural style. It was built with red bricks, "rounded archives, "a stepped gable" and "an octagonal bell tower.
The church played a specific role during the American Civil War of 1861-1865. On Sunday, September 13, 1863, Reverend Baker invited crew members of the Union USS Rattler gunboat to attend his service. However, Confederates burst into the church to arrest them. When other Union crew members found out about the Confederate violation of Sunday truce, they fired a cannonball at the church, which damaged its front wall. The damage is still visible to this day.

Rule #2 of underwater photography is "never shoot down". This is nearly always a valid rule because shooting down has less light and it is hard to avoid distracting elements. But as the cliche goes, rules are meant to be broken (occasionally).
This is a small green turtle (Chelonia mydas) that just took a breath at the surface and was floating back down to the bottom below to continue to munch on sea grass. I positioned myself right on top of the turtle and shot down to capture the color and patterns of the shell. I was annoyed by the cluster of coral in the upper right but now I justify it with the excuse that it provides some perspective. (I could have removed them in post, but I am generally averse to doing that beyond small distractions and irritating backscatter. Better to try to get the image right when the shutter is clicked.)
The green turtle is listed as endangered (declining) by the IUCN. They are one of my favorite subjects because of their looks and their personality.
