On the way to this shoot it was raining with dark clouds and I didn't think there was going to be any chance of a sunset - but at the last minute, the clouds broke and the golden hour sun cast some nice light on the Rama VIII bridge
Scarlet Ibis. What would life be, with a beak like this?
(Still a few more bestiary photos to come.)
This Lincoln was made from 1993-1998. What a shame. I can’t believe it has been left here to rust, but it has been here for over six months. I even drive a car older than this. It looks like it is a dark purple to me, but it could be the lighting.
Gave this one the 2018 treatment. Shot this two years ago. Since 2016 I moved on in post processing, no big changes but small things, that give these long exposures a more fine art look. Hope you like the new edit, and slightly different crop. Have a great Friday!
Symbiosis

Let's just indulge in our thoughts. Is the worm being attacked by 9 killer insects? Or does it live in peaceful symbiosis with its supposed attackers? Are they perhaps protecting it? In the end, it doesn't really matter, because no one is reading this anyway. But on the other hand... maybe it's not a real symbiosis and it's actually parasites that are sucking the worm dry. I'll sleep on it...
What does it say when your interpretation of going crazy involves pushing the sliders of Capture One to the limit ;-)

Creake Abbey is just outside the village of North Creake, a few miles south of Burnham Market in Norfolk. The vast majority of our abbeys and monasteries were destroyed in the Dissolution by King Henry VIII in the mid-late 1530s. But Creake Abbey, founded by the Augustinians as a priory in the 12th century, had come to grief long before that. A fire swept through the abbey in 1483, damaging the church and several of the other buildings beyond repair.
Subsequently, although extensive rebuilding of the quire and presbytery had made good progress an outbreak of the 'sweating sickness' wiped out the monastic community in 1506, the abbot himself being the last to die. This was a mysterious and contagious disease that struck England and later continental Europe in a series of epidemics beginning in 1485. The disease was last recorded in 1551.
The abbey site and estate was given to Lady Margaret Beaufort in 1507, and ended up in the ownership of Christ's College, Cambridge. The abbey ruins are Grade I-listed and in the care of English Heritage. They are freely accessible to the public.

Part VIII of set Passenger seat {Beautiful Sabah}. I am posting these drive-by images every weekend.
Passenger seat view.... This photo was taken on the way to Keningau, using a new road which cuts the distance by half but it is too steep for small cars. My friend's car, a 6-month old Honda Accord 2.4V, stalled at the last peak. (See note on photo.) It just refused to go further in "normal Drive" mode. I had better comfort in a 4.6 L turbo-charged Toyota "Ninja", perfect for this type of terrain.
This route is less populated as the terrain is very hilly. This is the Crocker Range, and we were basically travelling along its slopes. The average altitude is 1,800m above sea level. (That's right, about 5,400 feet). This is mainly agricultural land... paddy, vegetables, rubber, oil palm and previously, it was a timber area.
Keningau, our destination, is the largest town in the interior, about 130km from Kota Kinabalu. At this point, we had just left a 'pit-stop' at one of the few roadside canteens.
My friends, this is the Kadazan-Dusun heartland. You have not seen Sabah until you visit the 'soul' of this land. Welcome to Sabah, 'The Land Below The Wind".
Traditional kadazan dance..... this dance is pure seduction... the rhythmic sound... the twitch of the hips... the flick of the wrists...
