I'm back in Boston - and back to decent internet speeds - so now I have to start posting stuff from my trip.
One thing I love to do when I visit California is watch the hummingbird feeders - and this time, I tried out my iPhone 6s slow mo video for the first time.
Listen to hear it chirping and look closely to see its little tongue going in and out!
We decided based on some bird books that this one is either an Allen's hummingbird or a Rufous hummingbird, which are apparently very difficult to tell apart.
This video was at 120fps and 1080p (I also took some at 240fps and 720p which I'll post later for comparison). I had to export this using iMovie on my iPhone to get it to upload to Flickr, not sure if that lost any resolution but I hope not.

This is the very same video as before, but much easier to see. I rarely see an alligator feeding, so I wanted to share this, but in my first attempt I saved it as too small a file. Now you shouldn't have to use a magnifier to watch it. But if you don't like the gore, the small file is fine ;)

The Nunome-gawa River originates in Nara Prefecture and flows into the Kizu-gawa River in Kasagi Town. It becomes a clear stream that curves between rocks along the Asuka route, and the mountains on both sides of the river show off beautiful seasonal colors, so the river basin is also known as the Silver Belt Hiking Course designated by the town.
As I was standing admiring and photographing the view from Overlook 1, I saw a kayaker upriver heading towards the falls. I had just enough time to grab by cell phone and capture this video as he went over the falls. I can honestly say this is something I'll never do (at least not on purpose!).
