This is a shot of Discoveryland, the Jules Verne future-past version of Tomorrowland found at Disneyland Paris. I dig that this Tomorrowland at least has a coherent thematic thread in it unlike many, and TBax finally got his Discovery Bay airship in somewhere. Like most Tomorrowland-type places, it looks best at night.
Videopolis itself mirrored that from Disneyland and Anaheim in that was basically a disco/dance party, but the concept’s appeal faded with time and now it primarily serves as the eatery Cafe Hyperion. To the right is Space Mountain, which was added a few years after the park opened.

The Hyperion is a fictional airship from the the Disney movie "The Island at the Top of the World" (yeah it wasn't so successful).
In Discoveryland the Hyperion is docked in the Hyperion cafe, a quick service restaurant themed as an airship hanger. Attached to the cafe is the Videopolis Theatre which has stage shows depending on the season.
The design of the building actually closely resembles concept artwork for a proposed extension to Disneyland that never happened (possibly because The Island at the Top of the World was a flop)... obviously those plans survived and since they matched the themeing of Discoveryland they were resurrected. I think they are a VERY nice addition to Discoverland.

Café Hyperion
Café Hyperion is a counter service travel themed restaurant located at Discoveryland in Disneyland Paris. Located next to Videopolis, the large zeppelin (Hyperion) moored inside the building's interior. Creatively designed, the fast food counters are designed to resemble ticket booths where guests could purchase tickets for a flight to any destination in the Hyperion airship. This cafe itself offers a mix of America cuisine, with burgers, fries, and multiple desserts for guests to choose from. Ordering is done inside and seating is avaliable both within the building and outside its exterior. Guests inside may relax and watch disney cartoons, while enjoying their meals or prepare for the Jedi Training Academy nearby.
Café Hyperion first opened its door to the Disneyland, Paris populace in 1992 as Europe's largest fast food restaurant. Originally designed as a concept by Imagineer Tony Baxter after the 1974 film The Island at the Top of the World, the restaurant was to be a part of a proposed land called Discovery Bay in Disneyland, California. With the movie's less than stellar performance at the box office, however, the plan was initially scrapped. It was not until some years later that Mr. Baxter became the executive producer for Disneyland, Paris that the design got off the drawing board and was developed with the construction of Discoveryland in Disneyland, Paris.

About Disneyland " Blast to the Past" Promotion:
Disneyland developed a series of off season promotions designed to raise attendance during the traditionally slow periods of the year. Disneyland held during the spring of 1988 and 1989 , the "Blast to the Past" promotion, a celebration of the "simpler" times of the 1950s and '60s, complete with rock n roll soundtrack and 50s attire.
Along with McDonald's Restaurants , Disneyland offered "Blast to the Past" to the public. Customers of the restaurant had the opportunity to win prizes such as reduced priced admission tickets to Disneyland and other prizes. Disneyland guests were also able to win items such as jukeboxes, frisbees, yo-yo's, hula-hoops and classic 1950s cars. The "Guess-o-Rama" sweepstakes allowed a chance at winning a car if you could correctly guess the number of '50s items in one of the specially marked classic cars show cased throughout the Park.
It wouldn't be a "Blast to the Past" if you didn't have actual entertainment from the '50s and '60s playing live for you at Videopolis. Performers included Herman's Hermits, the Turtles, Paul Revere and the Raiders and the Spinners. Weekends at Videopolis during "Blast to the Past" event served as the Disneyland Sock Hop.
Of course Disneyland had to be decorated to make the transformation from 1989 to the 1950s complete. Above the park entry tunnels into the world of make-believe were these large jukebox-style signs with the Blast to the Past logo. The Hub had a two-story jukebox fixture where a D.J. would "spin platters." In front of it's a small world was a tropical beach complete with palm trees where classic beach party scenes would play out.
Many of the Disneyland eateries were transformed into '50s-style diners. Tomorrowland Terrace became the "Rainbow Diner" complete with neon lights and signs. The 50s fun of "Blast to the Past" lasted for two spring sessions and ended about the same time as Circus Fantasy and State Fair. It definately brought more guests into the park, the guests enjoyed "Blast to the Past", a throwback to the '50s and '60s.

1987 Disneyland " Circus Fantasy 87" Lamp Post Plaque .
Circus Fantasy 1987
A new concept was conceived called "Themes". The first theme was "Circus Fantasy" On three different occasions the Circus came to Disneyland. The parade would begin with Mickey, of course, leading the parade. Followed by various clowns and Disney characters. During the "Circus Fantasy", Disneyland had a trapeze act further down Main Street, a motorcycle act would drive up a wire attached to the Matterhorn, and a man was shot out of a cannon over the river onto the dock on Tom Sawyers Island.
Disneyland also provided a show at Carnations Plaza, of various clown acts, a circus stage show at Videopolis. Along with many clowns could be seen performing, juggling, stilt walking, magic and mayhem around the park.
Parading down Main Street twice a day "Circus On Parade", a pre-parade would begin with the clowns from the Carnation Plaza show
Then, there was the "Globe of Death" in the hub for Circus Fantasy, it was a round cage in which a daredevil rode a motorcycle round and round.

Tomorrow (Wed 7/21), my wife and I celebrate our 26 year wedding anniversary. We are heading to NYC to see a show (Addams Family) on Broadway. So, I'm posting a bit early.
Another unique element is Videopolis. An excerpt from "Tales from the Laughing Place Issue 9":
Coming from Main Street and looking across at that Airship sitting right up there on Videopolis, it is a magical technology leading you in. It was about adding elements that were completely visual. Having the Orbitron in the middle of the land helped to pay off what the place was all about: technology. All other lands have the advantage of a Carrousel or Big Thunder trains creating movement - Tomorrowland has these big giant buildings where everything is enclosed, there is no animation to it - so we developed a kinetic sculpture for the Orbitron so it became not only a ride but an icon. I’m never a purist in anything - so you take on all of this architecture that’s Victorian or 1930’s and then line it in neon to then kick it into the ideal of making it timeless."
From Wikipedia:
"Videopolis" is an auditorium in the Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris near Marne-la-Vallée. It was an opening day attraction, and is located within the Discoveryland section of the park, an alternate take on the Tomorrowland concept that takes into consideration the science fiction pioneered by the likes of Jules Verne. As such, the building is themed to dreams of the future from the turn of the twentieth century. The airship hanging outside the building is from the 1974 film The Island at the Top of the World. "Videopolis" also houses the "Café Hyperion", the largest fast-food restaurant in the park. As of 2010, "Videopolis" shows classic Mickey Mouse cartoons.
