In Memory Of My Father

Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

My Bangladesh.
A country full of expressions...
A country full of joy...
In every face as fresh as Green
In every mind as bright as Red..
Your beauty reflects.
Two faces from the procession of Victory. One of them showing the word"My" and another showing "Bangladesh" simultaneously. This interesting juxtaposition caught the attention of my lens.
Eid Mubarak everyone! I'm going to my family tomorrow for observing the festival, and will be missing you all for One Week. Take care...

Victory Day or 9 May is celebrated in Russia and in most post-Soviet states to mark the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union in the Second World War (also known as the Great Patriotic War in these countries).
This one was taken 2 years ago during the celebration of the 66th Anniversary of Victory Day in Kazakhstan.
I was lucky to get access to the VIP and press area and get really close to the parades and celebrations. An interesting day which left me with over two thousand close up shots of the War Veterans, special guests and military personnel participating in the event.

I didn’t really want to post anything today…I went out, hung out with my friends from BUET-PS but didn’t do any “photography”..shooting cute kids with flags on their faces is not really a thing I do well.
Being a flickr addict, my resolution of posting nothing is again going down the drain..and being a ‘hujuge bangali’,my photograph is also a red-green themed one.this shot has gone wrong in a zillion ways..:s
Here’s hoping we will all find better ways of showing our love for Bangladesh..not just through wearing certain colours on certain days..let’s hope that the other 364 days, where our facebook dp is not a flag, and our dresses are not red-green..we’ll show that we truly feel pride to be a Bangladeshi through our actions.
Happy victory day to all.
A display of lights in Dhaka, Bangladesh, commemorating the 46th anniversary of Victory Day of the nation. This picture depicts a representation of a historical moment, where the Father of the Nation declares the struggle for independence of the country and the countrymen wholeheartedly responding to it. The flag of Bangladesh acts as the background.
The Monument to the Heroic Defenders of Leningrad, built where the city's defensive lines held back the Nazis in World War II.
The obelisk shows the dates of the so-called Great Patriotic War, started in 1941 when the Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union. The buildings in the background are decorated for the celebrations of the Victory Day on May 9 (the Nazi surrendered to the Soviets in Berlin on May 9th 1945).

Victory Day
Victory day (Bengali: বিজয় দিবস Bijôy Dibôs) is a national holiday in Bangladesh celebrated on December 16 to commemorate the victory of the Bangladesh forces over the Pakistani forces in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. The Commanding officer of the Pakistani Forces General AAK Niazi surrendered with his forces to the allied forces of Bangladesh, which marked the end of the 9 month-long Bangladesh Liberation War and 1971 Bangladesh genocide and official secession of East Pakistan into Bangladesh.
