Up to London on Saturday with Darren Wilkin.
We deviated from our canal path walk, into Victoria Park. The temple looking building the background is a pagoda, and just for decoration, I think.
One place we visited for a picnic while Tim was off was Victoria Park, a beautiful park near the centre of the city. (The only downside is they don't allow dogs, even on leads, so we couldn't take Lina!). This is one of the entrances, the bridge with the railway line.
This photo is from the park side of the bridge and it leads to the Cenotaph that I photographed recently. You can see the Guildhall in this photo too.
Victoria Park is a public park located just to the north of Portsmouth Guildhall, adjacent to Portsmouth and Southsea railway station and close to the city centre in Portsmouth, Hampshire. It was officially opened on 25 May 1878 and was the first public park to be opened in Portsmouth. It was designed by Alexander McKenzie. It has a total area of around 15 acres (61,000 m2) and is planted with trees, shrubs and flowers. The centre of the park features an enclosed area which inhabits animals such as birds, rabbits and guinea pigs (From Wikipedia)
5.1.13... fresh air at last!! we took the kids to the park for a (very cold) picnic on their bikes/scooters. It was such a relief to get out of the house after weeks of illness/rain!
