The Samanid mausoleum is located in a park just outside the historic urban center of Bukhara, Uzbekistan. The mausoleum is considered to be one of the most highly esteemed work of Central Asian architecture, and was built between 892 and 943 CE as the resting-place of Ismail Samani - a powerful and influential amir of the Samanid dynasty, one of the last native Persian dynasties that ruled in Central Asia in the 9th and 10th centuries, after the Samanids established virtual independence from the Abbasid Caliphate in Baghdad. In addition to Ismail Samani, the mausoleum also houses the remains of his father Ahmed and his nephew Nasr, as well as the remains of other members of the Samanid dynasty.
The monument marks a new era in the development of Persian and Central Asian architecture, which was revived after the Arab conquest of the region. The overall structure is made similar to ancient Persian fire temples, commonly known as chartaqi in Persian. The architects continued to use an ancient tradition of baked brick construction, but to a much higher standard than had been seen before. The site is unique for its architectural style which combines both Zoroastrian motifs from the native Sogdian and Sassanid cultures, as well as Islamic motifs introduced from Arabia and Persia.
The building's facade is covered in intricately decorated brick work, which features circular patterns reminiscent of the sun - a common image in Zoroastrian art from the region at that time which is reminiscent of the Zoroastrian god, Ahura Mazda, who is typically represented by fire and light. The building's shape is cuboid, and reminiscent of the Ka'aba in Makkah, while the heavy corner buttresses are derived from Sogdian architectural styles. The syncretic style of the shrine is reflective of the 9th and 10th centuries - a time when the region still had large populations of Zoroastrians who had begun to convert to Islam around that time.
The height of the shrine is approximately 35 feet, with four identically designed facades which gently slope inwards with increasing height. The building's architectural engineers included four internal arches for support, upon which the dome is placed. The building's "four arch" design was adopted for use in several shrines throughout Central Asia. At the top of each side of the shrine are ten small windows which provided ventilation for the interior portion of the mausoleum.
The State Museum of Applied Arts of Uzbekistan is an art museum located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, founded in 1937 as a temporary exhibition for handicrafts. The museum contains over 4,000 exhibits on decorative art in Uzbekistan, including wood carving, ceramics, embossing, jewelry, gold weaving, embroidery, and samples of mass production in local industry.
Until the beginning of the 21st century, the museum was located in the former palace of the Russian diplomat Alexander Alexandrovich Polovtsev Jr..
The museum building, known as the Polovtsev house, was purchased by his secretary Mikhail Stepanovich Andreev from Tashkent merchant Nikolai Ivanovich Ivanov. Under Andreev's guidance, the interiors of the house were readjusted and refurbished to fit an Oriental style. The main architect of this restructuring was A. A. Burmeyster. The house was known colloquially as the "Polovtsev House". The building is an example of Oriental architectural and decorative art, built in the late 19th century. The decoration, carving and painting of the building was done by Uzbek folk artists Usta T. Arsankulov, A. Kazymdzhanov (Tashkent), Usta Shirin Muradov (Bukhara), Usta A. Palvanov (Khiva), and Usta Abdullah (Rishtan).
Hạ Long Bay (Vịnh Hạ Long, literally: "descending dragon bay") is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular travel destination in Quảng Ninh Province, Vietnam. Administratively, the bay belongs to Hạ Long City, Cẩm Phả town, and is a part of Vân Đồn District. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various shapes and sizes. Hạ Long Bay is a center of a larger zone which includes Bái Tử Long Bay to the northeast, and Cát Bà Island to the southwest. These larger zones share a similar geological, geographical, geomorphological, climate and cultural characters.
Hạ Long Bay has an area of around 1,553 km2, including 1,960–2,000 islets, most of which are limestone. The core of the bay has an area of 334 km2 with a high density of 775 islets. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments. The evolution of the karst in this bay has taken 20 million years under the impact of the tropical wet climate.
The geo-diversity of the environment in the area has created biodiversity, including a tropical evergreen biosystem, oceanic and sea shore biosystem. Hạ Long Bay is home to 14 endemic floral species and 60 endemic faunal species.
Historical research surveys have shown the presence of prehistorical human beings in this area tens of thousands years ago. The successive ancient cultures are the Soi Nhụ culture around 18,000–7000 BC, the Cái Bèo culture 7000–5000 BC and the Hạ Long culture 5,000–3,500 years ago.
Hạ Long Bay also marked important events in the history of Vietnam with many artifacts found in Bài Thơ Mount, Đầu Gỗ Cave, Bãi Cháy.
500 years ago, Nguyễn Trãi praised the beauty of Hạ Long Bay in his verse Lộ nhập Vân Đồn, in which he called it "rock wonder in the sky". In 1962, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of North Vietnam listed Hạ Long Bay in the National Relics and Landscapes publication. In 1994, the core zone of Hạ Long Bay was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site according to criterion vii, and listed for a second time according to criterion viii.
BUON VIAGGIO
CHE SIA UN’ANDATA O UN RITORNO
CHE SIA UNA VITA O SOLO UN GIORNO
CHE SIA PER SEMPRE O UN SECONDO
L’INCANTO SARA’ GODERSI UN PO’
LA STRADA, COMUNQUE VADA
FAI LE VALIGIE E CHIUDI LE LUCI DI CASA
CORAGGIO
LASCIARE TUTTO INDIETRO E ANDARE
PARTIRE PER RICOMINCIARE
CHE NON C’E’ NIENTE DI PIU’
VERO DI UN MIRAGGIO
E PER QUANTA STRADA ANCORA C’E’ DA FARE
AMERAI IL FINALE.

The Lockheed C-130 Hercules is an American four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft designed and built by Lockheed (now Lockheed Martin). Capable of using unprepared runways for takeoffs and landings, the C-130 was originally designed as a troop, medevac, and cargo transport aircraft.
The versatile airframe has found uses in other roles, including as a gunship (AC-130), for airborne assault, search and rescue, scientific research support, weather reconnaissance, aerial refueling, maritime patrol, and aerial firefighting. It is now the main tactical airlifter for many military forces worldwide. More than 40 variants of the Hercules, including civilian versions marketed as the Lockheed L-100, operate in more than 60 nations.
The C-130 entered service with the U.S. in 1956, followed by Australia and many other nations. During its years of service, the Hercules has participated in numerous military, civilian and humanitarian aid operations. In 2007, the transport became the fifth aircraft to mark 50 years of continuous service with its original primary customer, which for the C-130 is the United States Air Force. The C-130 is the longest continuously produced military aircraft at more than 60 years, with the updated Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules being produced as of 2023.
C-130H Identical to the Echo variant but with more powerful Allison T56-A-15 turboprop engines. Introduced in Jun. 1974 with 308 ordered.
Hurried passage in the beautiful Venetian city on the return journey to Rome. Especially to me, who had just left the coolness of the mountains of the Stelvio Park, the day seemed very hot (as almost always in this summer) and the drought was also felt on the Adige, which appeared almost dry (although this did not prevent someone from seeking some refreshment in its waters). But the bridge always looks splendid to me. It left me wanting to return to Verona longer and in a less cruel season.

Capitolo 5
Beato il nostro vecchietto... chissà che dormite.
The VFW VAK 191B was an experimental German vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) strike fighter of the early 1970s. VAK was the abbreviation for Vertikalstartendes Aufklärungs- und Kampfflugzeug (Vertical Take-off Reconnaissance and Strike Aircraft). Designed and built by the Vereinigte Flugtechnische Werke (VFW), it was developed with the purpose of eventually serving as a replacement for the Italian Fiat G.91 then in service with the German Air Force.
Operationally, it was intended to have been armed with nuclear weapons as a deterrent against aggression from the Soviet Union and, in the event of a major war breaking out, to survive the first wave of attacks by deploying to dispersed locations, rather than conventional airfields, and to retaliate against targets behind enemy lines.
The VAK 191B suffered from a protracted development cycle, spanning ten years between inception and flight, in part due to changing requirements, partnerships changing, and the difficulty inherently associated in the development of VTOL-capable aircraft. Ultimately, during the late 1960s, VFW took the decision to demote the development programme from targeting the type's production and instead only to test-fly a limited number of prototypes, using the VAK 191B effectively as a technology demonstrator and experimental aircraft to support the company's other activities and future programmes. On 10 September 1971, the first prototype conducted the type's maiden flight. A total of 91 flights were performed prior to the retirement of all three prototypes in 1975. These aircraft have been preserved and two are now on public display in museums.
Possono raggiungere i 160 km/h.

A Rock train by Trenitalia
E altre ancora
(molte, davvero molte anche queste)
gettano l’ancora nei porti.
Per anni ho caricato questa nave
Con tutto quello che mi davano
e che prendevo con enorme gioia
E poi
(lo ricordo come fosse oggi)
la dipingevo a tinte sgargianti
e stavo attento
che non si macchiasse in nessun punto
La volevo bella per il mio viaggio
E dopo avere atteso tanto –proprio tanto
Giunse alla fine il momento di salpare
E salpai…
(Nave io e capitano
ed equipaggio per trovarti
fammi a pezzi
ma non farmi sanguinare il corpo)
Quando mi trovai in mare aperto
onde immense mi travolsero
e mi straziarono per rivelarmi
amare verità che ignoravo
Verità che dovevo imparare
Nell’abbraccio dell’oceano
con un lungo furente fragore
la solitudine
divenne per me faro del pensiero
indicando strade nuove
(secoli dovrei dire)
verniciati di recente ma senza
una forza nuova che li tenga uniti
la rotta sempre contro il tempo
nella stiva solo zavorra
Zavorra che mi dissero
merce preziosa, come quella
che di solito si compra nei porti
Ma se dicessi che mi hanno ingannato
non sarei onesto
osservo la bussola
senza sosta
con accanto la mappa
su cui studio la rotta
lontano dai porti che segnalano il passaggio
Quando poi succede che splendano
(che istanti difficili!)
all’orizzonte i porti della terra
l’equipaggio guarda le luci
(luci sirene
Mentre l’ora trascorre e io
osservo silenzioso la carta
tutt’intorno cresce il tumulto
Proposte subdole
vestite con idee
idee vendute che vogliono sempre
Adornare l’inazione con le parole
e minacce
che vogliono passare per consigli
e promesse
che tentano la bestia e la risvegliano…
Quelle sono ore difficili
Perché da ognuna di loro
Dipende l’intero viaggio
E continuo ancora il viaggio
Desideri radicati nell’anima
sono diventati bussola per la mia nave
la mia mappa
altrettanto misteriosa
in cielo, rintracciare segnali
E’ ognuna
di quelle onde un Golgota
e pensa
che la tempesta imperversa ininterrotta
Ma mentre aumenta
temo sempre più
che la spaventosa furia del mare
mi conduca ad avvistare
porti là sulla costa
porti che la mia mappa non indica
Sono ostacoli e momenti difficili
l’abbiamo detto
l’equipaggio comincerà a ribollire
quando quei porti appariranno sulla costa
E continuo il viaggio
alla ricerca ancora
pur sapendo di essere
nell’infinito del tempo un istante
nell’abisso dello spazio un puntino
E continuo il viaggio
anche se sono tenebra
e tutto attorno a me è tenebra
(Fernando Pessoa)

The castle was built in its present form in the years 1872 to 1875 by Wilhelm von Westerholt with two octagonal towers. Previously, it has been demonstrated in use since 1187 as a knight's seat of the Lords of Schwansbell. In 1929 the city acquired Lünen the castle, which was 1934, the Hitlerjugend. Later the buildings were used as an orphanage.

… one month yes, and one no, my Provincial Health Authority of Messina sends me on a three-day mission (from Taormina) to the Civil Hospital of Lipari, located in via Sant'Anna…In my spare time, free from work commitments, I dedicate myself to my photographic passion; the photographs that I present here were all taken in the months of this year 2023; I made various photos according to the dictates of street photography (or street photography), I made some portraits, having always met people in the hand, very willing to let themselves be photographed (perhaps it will be ... that the people of the island are open-minded, eager and used to to communicate with strangers..?!), some portraits were made of people intent on their work; all the photos were taken in the city of Lipari, except for two taken in the port of Milazzo, the departure and arrival point of the hydrofoils (but there is also the ship) for the Aeolian Islands. I met (and photographed) the sweet lady, very good and appreciated American artist, Mrs Janette Little (photographed together with her affable and very nice husband, of Aeolian origins); of the talented artist mrs Janette in addition to her portrait I propose two of her works, I had noticed them some time ago, I had wanted to bring some photos of these works with me, now I propose them in black and white because this is a monochrome series, I note however that the originals are in color, for those wishing to see his works, I add the link to his web site below.
