The Detroit Tigers play in Comerica Park near the heart of Detroit, Michigan. As a long-time resident of the Detroit-are, my heart will always be with the Detroit Tigers.
Comerica Park has been home to the Tigers since 2000. Prior to that the Tiger's played in Tiger's Stadium in Corktown (which has since been destroyed). Comerica Park is one of the most beautiful places to see a game in MLB, as it has a great view of the city skyline and lots of basball related attractions. The stadium holds more than 41,000 people.
In addition to the Tigers, Comerica Park has hosted a number of concerts and other events. In 2013, Comerica will host portions of the NHL's "Winter Classic" between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs.
These events include the alumni game, which will be held on December 31, 2012, as well as outdoor games from all levels, including youth, the OHL, and the Great Lakes Invitational. The actual 2013 Winter Classic game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the host Detroit Red Wings will be played at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.

Comerica Park, the home of the Detroit Tigers, opened in the year 2000 in downtown Detroit. At a cost of $300 Million, it took 3 years to complete. It seats 41,782, has a ferris wheel, and the largest scoreboard in Major League Baseball. I have only been to see a game once there, Justin Verlander's no-hitter.
Detroit has a lot of beauty to offer. I show a lot of the side that may be a little past it's prime, so I hope you've enjoyed some of my recent pictures showing some of the treasures we have here such as this stadium, Ford Field, the Guardian Building, etc. Despite reports to the contrary, it's not all doom and gloom here.
The Tigers ace would eventually strike out 10, the highest Opening Day total for a Tigers pitcher since Mickey Lolich in 1970.

As you can see, I had a good view of him from my seat along the third base line.

Every Detroiter has the image of this once great stadium's demolition drawn out over the course of 6 months. Destroyed so it could be used as scrap metal. So I ask the Council, now that you've succeeded in demolishing this icon of our city, what do you plan to do with this site?
There has been a stadium at this location in Detroit since 1895. Tiger Stadium was built in 1911 ( completed in 1912 ) and opened the same week as Fenway Park in Boston. The Detroit Tigers played here until the year 2000. The Detroit Lions also played here from 1938 through 1974. The Stadium was demolished despite being named a National Historic Site. The Stadium is located in Detroit ( actually a district called Corktown ) , at MIchigan Avenue and Trumbull, right near the also abandoned Michigan Central Train Depot.
I had to get a shot of it before they tear it down. Bennett Park was a wooden park first built on this site in 1895, hosting the home games of the Detroit Tigers. It was replaced by a steel-and-concrete stadium named Navin Field in 1912. It opened the same week as Fenway Park in Boston. It was renamed Briggs Stadium in 1938 and the Detroit Lions began playing their home games there as well. It was renamed Tiger stadium in 1961, the Lions left here in 1974, and the Detroit Tigers moved out at the end of 1999, leaving the building abandoned. As it is due to be torn down in February of 2008, in August of 2007 they auctioned off everything, signs, seats, lockers, etc. By November, all of the signs for this historic ballpark had been removed.
I actually found time to watch the game while I was at Comerica Park last night.

EXPLORED! Standing since 1913 but abandoned since 2000, it's a little painful to see this building with so many memories ( Tiger Stadium in Detroit ) being torn down.

Justin Verlander is a beast! His victories in games one and five have us moving on in the post season. Go Tigers!
Day 190
A great night at the ballpark with my girls. Verlander on the mound and we all held our breath when Papa Grande pitched the 9th inning. A sigh of relief when it was over and the Tigers chalked up another victory.
