I had the idea of finding a Japanese garden for my project and was lucky enough to come across Mr Derek J Verlander's entry into the 2015 Shed of the Year Competition.
Derek turned a disused railway cutting into a Japanese themed garden including a 40ft Waterfall, a Pond with Koi Carp, a Bridge, Bonsai Trees and various Buddha Statues with other Japanese related ornaments.
In addition to the Bridge Derek constructed his shed as an authentic style Tea Room to a very high standard.
The interior is amazing and he has also added a Machiai Shelter to the side which houses his BBQ.
Derek and Linda made me very welcome for which I am extremely grateful.

Got to go to the Tigers game on Sunday, what a beautiful day for baseball. Too bad they lost. We had seats 3 rows behind the visitors dugout so I got some amazing photos! Also, did some gardening this weekend so I'll have some new stuff to post.
I just loved how the moon was over this scene. The sunset had occurred behind this ... now time for some Baseball ... Go Tigers!!!!!
10/11 Update: ... and the Tigers WON!!! Justin Verlander rocked! Going to the American League Championships. WOOT!!!

Kerikeri bush walk 28/1/2019
This walk is 4.1km long passing the Rainbow Falls and following the river to the basin which equates to a five mile round trip.
Most of the path is protected from the sun because it goes through mature woodland with dense undergrowth.
This is not for the feint hearted as one side of the path slopes steeply downwards and sometimes the other side is a sheer cliff face. At a couple of points, the path is forced to detour to avoid boulders which have fallen in a landslip.
We saw cicadas quite close up in full song, a heron in flight and many other birds. The plants and trees seemed to be from another world.
At the basin end of the walk, refreshment was available at the excellent Honey Pot or at the Pear Tree. There is also a tea room where we began the walk.

A fantastic spot to sit and watch the fish and visiting wildlife whilst having a coffee.

Popped the fisheye on the Canon to see how much of the park I could get in the shot from this upperdeck and center location. Managed to get a good piece of it.

Of course, if Miguel Cabrera doesn't win it tonight I'll have to come up with a new catch title for this one
And Tigers win!
The guy behind us said, "Oh my God, HE'S PLANKING!". I explained to him that kids plank, and adults Face Down.

I'm so excited about the Tigers being in the playoffs -- and today is game one of the ALDS, Tigers/Yankees.
This is an old shot -- taken in the summer of 2006 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL. I've reworked it for today in PSE using the new Topaz B&W effects plugin.
Go Tigers!
From this perspective, it almost looks like there was a decent crowd at the game.
We may have lost today, but I took a lot of pictures.
It was a good time, with good friends. Thank you Bill and Will.

I had the chance to go to a Tigers Game all weekend long. One Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I sat in different seats each game allowing me different views of the players.
Here are some photos from the past few games:)
