Somehow I inherited old books from my family of origin. Such as this one, printed in 1900, entitled "The Complete Poems of Sir Thomas More; Collected by Himself with Explanatory Notes". The thin piece of tissue or vellum protects an old photo or lithograph of the man himself.
Do you remember when vintage or antique books were assembled with such care?
Less than 3 inches/ 7.6 cm across.
This is the definite version of "A star is born", a spherical star with 30 points. Folded from vellum-paper, which gives also such beautiful backlight result.
This paper has one restriction though, you can only use it for origami models or elements, that require just a few folding steps, otherwise you will get too many unwanted creases or the paper might even tear.
I folded this star for a neighbor. She had bought it as a folding-packet (paper and instruction included) and asked me to fold it.
So I first started with folding 10 elements of the bigger paper, as you can see here, but she wanted this smaller one. ;-)

5 points joint together make a 5-pointed star. I hop you see that the '5-pointed bottom' is flat and 5 point are peaking.
I forgot to mention that one point is made of 3 elements and for this star you will need 10 elements.

Je fais des expériences de transfert d'émulsion Polaroid négative (emulsion lift) sur papier semi transparent (Vellum Canson). J'ai tenté de traiter ce "négatif papier", puisqu'il est transparent, comme un négatif dans mon numérisateur. Je possède un Epson 4490 et le format maximum pour du négatif c'est un bande de film 120. J'ai souvent numériser un négatif 4x5 en deux fois, pour ensuite les réunir avec Photoshop. Mais cette fois-ci, cette fonction de réunion d'images dans Photoshop n'a pas bien fonctionné et je me suis retrouvé avec ce format inusité.

4:52 Abandoned – Capture an image of that which others have forgotten.
Dan's Dad rescued these documents from a skip (dumpster) in Bristol in the 70s. The vellum document in the foreground is a record of indenture for the Company and Corporation of Merchant Tailors dated 1647. The book behind it is the last will and testament of Mrs. Sarah Ridley and details the alms house she had set up - it's dated 1716. The ledger in the background contains the meeting notes of a committee planning the 1864 opening celebrations of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.
