mystery and intrigue......
What is her real reason for coming to this event?
a Widow maker?
Don't look now but you are walking into her web.
* she eyes slowly gaze upon you and they light up as her smile blooms, starting the next chapter of this saga.
There's been a subtle yet unmistakeable change in the sky over the past week or so. The brightness and lightness of summer have begun a gradual shift into something that feels dimmer and heavier. Even on sunny days the clouds look and feel different. Suddenly they seem thicker, more massive. If I could ascribe a personality to clouds, I'd say their demeanor has an taken on an undertone of hostility. I noticed this last evening. Billowing clouds catching the evening sunlight, but dark and menacing at the base. Happens every year as we begin the proverbial descent into autumn. I'm just very keen to things like this. It's one of many things in life that simultaneously disturbs and attracts me. I'm mindful of how skies like this are forming my perception of the changing season. And ever mindful of the artistic opportunities with this brooding heaviness forming the backdrop to life in the weeks ahead.
These thoughts and more swirled in my mind as I drew near this tangle of cornstalks the other day. Menacing clouds churned across the sky. I love these moments more than I should.
If you're inclined to look around this image to enjoy the variety of surfaces, texture, and color relationships, you'll probably find the same things I did so I'll spare you the elaborate image analysis. I'll mention just one thing, the translucence of some of the surfaces, like the streaky rust and soot of the garage wall and the watercolor quality of the square enclosure; even the concrete pavement has something of this nature. That is where the title comes from--surfaces that appear translucent, like a veil.
Mount Tamalpais, California
A veil of fog obscures a line of trees amid the mountain’s steep, rolling slopes. It is relatively early in the new growing season and the grasses have not yet fully greened up.
I went up to Rainier on this day because the weather was crappy and I thought I'd hit the tourist spots while no one was looking. Had some great success, and some rain, and snow, and hail, but in between that there was this!
You are looking at the Nisqually Glacier from here and it's wonderful gouged out valley, one of the coolest things to see on the mountain itself. I'll enclose a pic without clouds in comments.

Ooh, but it drives me crazy when you can see there's a good aurora display going on, but the cloud cover is too thick.
That light blotch just above the hill is light pollution from telecom towers, reflecting off the clouds/mist.
The mystery continues.

Taken on a very foggy day . The surf wasn't really large but big enough to break over this large rock . I liked the veiled effect it gave .
