Taken at the Goodwood Road Racing Club (GRRC) car display and open day at Goodwood House.

Manufactured from 1941 to 1945 as a key weapon in the Allied War effort, the original World War II Jeep is most commonly associated with American ex-vehicle produces Willys (335,531 Willys-Overland MB Jeeps built) but Ford also made Jeeps for the war effort too, building 277,896 of its GPWs.

This 1942 Ford GPW is an early 'scripted' model, with its embossed rear panel, and lacking the rear jerry can and rifle rack that were added to later models as the War progressed. The Ford Jeep here displays it adapted WWI Cavalry scabbards to carry rifles plus the angle iron mounted on the front bumper as a Bocage field modification to cut wires strung acro roads by the retreating German Army. The bumper markings (IC-91RA-10) indicates 1st Cavalry Division, 91st Reconnaisance, A company, vehicle number 10, and the bonnet star is not an American star but rather an Allied star to which later had a circle added to signify the D-Day Invasion.

Goodwood Road Racing Club (GRRC) car display and open day at Goodwood House.

Well the Festival of Motoring was a massive success over the weekend of 4th & 5th September.

We were joined by the Audi Quattro Owners Club (UK) with their fabulous1980's Quattros - a very Ashes to Ashes theme. For the first time ever - we had an SPV400 vehicle - a lightweight prototype armoured personnel carrier from Coventry based NP Aerospace which attracted alot of interest.

On the Saturday, Millennium Place was packed with over 3,000 visitors enjoying a display of cars that went on to take part in the Festival on the Sunday, including a Spyker Aerilon from Holland, the production of the car is planned to be in Coventry in the near future.

The actual run on Sunday 5th saw over 500 cars and motorcycles take part in a stunning 40 to 60 mile cavalcade through Coventry and Warwickshire, returning to the War Memorial Park on the Kenilworth Road in Coventry for the afternoon. Around 20,000 people enjoyed a wonderful day of classic cars, motorcycles and a whole miriad of attractions including craft stalls, a food market and live music.

Goodwood Road Racing Club Open Day and Vehicle Display at Goodwood House

Well the Festival of Motoring was a massive success over the weekend of 4th & 5th September.

We were joined by the Audi Quattro Owners Club (UK) with their fabulous1980's Quattros - a very Ashes to Ashes theme. For the first time ever - we had an SPV400 vehicle - a lightweight prototype armoured personnel carrier from Coventry based NP Aerospace which attracted alot of interest.

On the Saturday, Millennium Place was packed with over 3,000 visitors enjoying a display of cars that went on to take part in the Festival on the Sunday, including a Spyker Aerilon from Holland, the production of the car is planned to be in Coventry in the near future.

The actual run on Sunday 5th saw over 500 cars and motorcycles take part in a stunning 40 to 60 mile cavalcade through Coventry and Warwickshire, returning to the War Memorial Park on the Kenilworth Road in Coventry for the afternoon. Around 20,000 people enjoyed a wonderful day of classic cars, motorcycles and a whole miriad of attractions including craft stalls, a food market and live music.
