Varzi è un comune italiano di 3012 abitanti della provincia di Pavia in Lombardia.
Il comune di Varzi sorge in una conca della Valle Staffora, nel sud della provincia, nel cosiddetto Oltrepò pavese (l'unica area lombarda, insieme all'Oltrepò mantovano, che si estende a sud del fiume Po). È percorso dal torrente Staffora, che dà il nome alla vallata che attraversa.
Dista circa 55 km da Pavia, capoluogo provinciale, mentre Voghera è a circa 29 km a nord-ovest.
Confina a sud-ovest con il Piemonte, più precisamente con la provincia di Alessandria.

E' un viaggio nel passato camminare sotto i portici di Varzi, bellissimo borgo lombardo ai piedi dell'Appennino, in provincia di Pavia, con numerose testimonianze storiche risalenti al XII XIII secolo.

Varzi - Castello Malaspina
La sua storia è legata a filo doppio a quella della famiglia Malaspina che, nel 1164, ottenne il feudo dei territori che vanno dalle colline di Rivanazzano fino a Oramala, direttamente dall’imperatore Federico Barbarossa.
Il nucleo più antico del castello risale probabilmente alla seconda metà del XIII secolo. Dopo la divisione fra i Malaspina avvenuta nel 1275 \che sancì l’inizio del Marchesato di Varzi -, i marchesi del ramo dello Spino Secco decisero di costruire un nuovo borgo in posizione più elevata, di fianco alle abitazioni già esistenti.
Fu poi nel 1838, che la vita della famiglia Malaspina s’intrecciò a quella della famiglia Odetti, quando Marietta, l’ultima superstite dell’antico casato, sposò il conte Carlo Odetti di Marcorengo. I suoi discendenti sono ancora i proprietari del castello e dal 1983 hanno dato avvio a un coraggioso restauro conservativo che, trent’anni dopo, ha portato all’apertura al pubblico dei suoi spazi e all’organizzazione di eventi pubblici e privati.

1929/30 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS roadster body by Carrozzeria Brianza, a Milan associate of Zagato. What a rush...at speed on Hiway 1 on a sunny day, in this gorgeous creature.
In 1929/30, the 6C 1750 was Alfa Romeo's most capable sports-racing car, winning races all over Europe. It was available in three versions, the naturally-aspirated Turismo, the twin-cam Super Sport available with or without a supercharger, and the supercharged Gran Sport. Both supercharged models had Alfa-built Roots-type blowers, although the Super Sport had a smaller, geared-up supercharger.
This 4th Series 6C 1750 Super Sport was ordered by Prince Alberto Manganelli of Sicily and is one of three short-chassis cars built for the 1930 Targa Florio and driven by Campari, Nuvolari and Maggi. It later competed in the XI Gran Premio d'Italia at Monza in September of 1933. While spending recent years in Australia it has taken part in several Mille Miglia retrospectives in Italy, and on this day it was in California!
The Alfa Romeo 6C-1750 impressed from the moment it was first released. It would win every major racing event it was entered in during 1929 including the Grand Prix of Belgium, Spain, Tunis and Monza as well as that year’s Mille Miglia in the hands of Giuseppe Campari and Giulio Ramponi. It would also take out the Brooklands Double Twelve and the Ulster TT that year while the following year would see it win the Spa 24-hours and other road races and hill climbs. It also repeated its win in the Mille Miglia, this time driven by the great Tazio Nuvolari, this event legendary for his duel with teammate Varzi over the last 600km. Nuvolari would overtake Varzi in the early morning with his headlights switched off eventually finishing seven minutes ahead.......sneaky but effective.

Geschichte der Klausenrennen
Mythos am Berg 21, 5 km
1922-1934
Das Klausenrennen von 1922 bis 1934 war mit Abstand das bekannteste und schwerste Bergrennen jener Zeit. Keine andere Bergstrecke faszinierte Zuschauer und Rennfahrer so stark wie die 21, 5 km lange Schotterstrasse von Linthal zur Klausenpasshöhe, die über 1237 Höhenmeter und durch 136 Kurven führte. Von 1922 bis 1934 trafen sich Jahr für Jahr die besten Rennfahrerinnen und Rennfahrer der Welt, um sich am Klausenpass zu messen. Auf feuerspeienden Grand-Prix-Rennwagen jagten und schleuderten sie von der Geschwindigkeit besessen, fauchend und brüllend mit 200 Sachen über den Urnerboden, hinein in die wilde Klus, hinauf zum Ziel am Fusse des 3267 Meter hohen Claridens.
1930 stellte der 23-jährige Engländer Tom Bullus auf einer NSU mit 16. 41. 0 Minuten einen neuen Motorrad-Klausenrekord auf, der auch in den letzten beiden Klausenrennen von 1932 und 1934 nicht mehr unterboten wurde. Bei den Automobilisten hingegen fiel der absolute Klausenrekord mit der letzten Austragung 1934. Der deutsche Rudolf Caracciola fuhr auf dem Grand-Prix-Rennwagen W25 von Mercedes die sagenhafte Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit von 83, 9 km / h, wohlverstanden auf einer schmalen, unbefestigten Schotterstrasse. 15. 22. 2 Minuten – eine unglaubliche Zeit! Ein Blick auf die Ranglisten der 10 historischen Klausenrennen lässt erahnen, was für ein hoch stehender Rennsport am Klausenpass geboten wurde. Rudolf Caracciola, Hans Stuck, Tazio Nuvolari, Achille Varzi, Whitney Straight, Louis Chiron.

Le classiche giostre poco affollate nei piccoli centri sono indubbiamente un boccone appetibile, di sera ancora meglio... rigorosamente con tempi lunghi e in biancoenero...Un mondo in sospeso carico di quella poetica un po’ Felliniana, malinconica e irreale... poi la macchina fotografica ha incominciato ad avere problemi di trascinamento, allora ho cambiato modo di fotografare sdoppiando gli scatti, cosa che non faccio mai, piuttosto lo sbaglio ma non cerco mai una seconda occasione, fosse lo scatto della mia vita... e allora il mondo si è magicamente moltiplicato non dando più scampo all’immaginazione😊... vedrete i prossimi scatti...
