The Varsity Twin Cinemas closed on Father's Day after 67 years. Its closing marks the loss of one of Honolulu's last great movie houses, a neighborhood and city landmark, that once served double duty as a theater and an overflow lecture hall for the crowded UH Manoa campus. Over the years, as my wife personally bid farewell to several old theaters, we knew the Varsity's days were numbered. Yet it was still hard to say goodbye. In these days of cookie-cutter sterile mall multiplexes, she was a gem. And will be missed.
The girls varsity volleyball team won a close game against Mercy on October 20. After winning the first two games, Ross suffered losses in the third and fourth games. During the fifth game, however, they came back strong, ultimately defeating Mercy 3-2.

I was very fortunate to go and see my son take part in a Kendo match. Had lots of fun trying to press the shutter button at the right moment as they launched attacks at each other (should have used burst mode of course!). But these guys were fast!
The first Luna is so amazing and I was looking forward to discovering other versions of her, especially a blond ... She doesn't disappoint at all ... the mix of femininity with a hint of masculinity is still there, I like that this version is more for a daylight style as the brunette is more for evening looks ... at least it will be for me that way ... For once I'm glad to have 2 versions for the same character, and will try not to get the future ones ...
