Non è la mia foto migliore, ma come sapete, quando si effettuano treni di questo tipo, specialmente su tratte chiuse come la Novara - Varallo, una moltitudine di curiosi e gente del paese si avvicina per immortalare la vaporiera. Qualche appassionato non sopporta questa cosa, io ho preferito "lasciare un po' la macchina" anche ai Valsesiani, visto e considerato che tra noi appassionati è una locomotiva abbastanza conosciuta, ma per loro è qualcosa di straordinario. Sono tuttavia riuscito a fare questo scatto, poco prima della partenza. Questa fotografia vuole essere un ricordo di una bella giornata passata in compagnia di amici che come me condividono questa bella passione.

It consist of a Basilica and 50 chapels which are either isolated or part of a larger monumental complex.
The chapels contains over 800 statues lifelike in wood or terracotta which describe the story of the life of Christ.

Sacro Monte di Varallo is a Sacro Monte ("sacred mountain", a type of mountainside Christian devotional complex) overlooking the town of Varallo Sesia. It was founded in 1491 by Franciscan friar Bernardino Caimi.

These lifesize, 16-18th c. terracotta figures and frescoes are in 43 chapels on the Sacra Monte, Varallo, northern tip of Piedmont, Italy, 20km. west of Lago d'Orta. The oldest were done by Gaudenzio Ferrari (1480-1546), a local painter, who had been a pupil of Leonardo da Vinci.

The Sacred Mountain of Varallo is a type of mountainside Christian devotional complex that re-builts Jerusalem's holy places) overlooking the town of Varallo Sesia. Founded in 1491 by the franciscan friar Bernardino Caimi and the artist Gaudenzio Ferrari, the site comprises a basilica and 45 chapels, either isolated or inserted into the large monumental complexes, populated by more than 800 life size painted statues, in wood and terracotta, that dramatically illustrate the life, passion, death and resurrection of Christ.
The statues are locked in chapels and are visible through peepholes spaced more than the pupillary distance, so the photos are necessarily HYPERSTEREO.
