que traen soluciones,
mas luego la niebla
lo oculta y olvida,
y no queda ni verde
de tanto pisar.
¡Qué tienen las urnas
que todos se vienen
e incluso se avienen
a dar claridad!
La niebla me dice
que allá hay una sombra,
mas nadie me aclara
qué voy a encontrar.
Tal vez, más tiniebla
de aquellos que vienen
o quizás no se van.

The ‘Société Anonyme des Magasins à Grains d’Anvers” was founded in 1892. This brick building was the first to be build in Antwerp. It is specifically used for grain storage and treatment.
One of a kind with two different eye colors cat breed originated from Turkey !. she called "Turkish Van"
"Van" is a name of a small city where located eastern part of the Turkey which is where this breed is originated. very special breed of it`s kind and under the government protection

Paard van Marken ist ein Leuchtturm auf der niederländischen Insel Marken. Er steht auf einer Landspitze im Markermeer. Da das Gebäude aus der Ferne und mit einiger Fantasie wie ein Pferd wirkt, wird es Paard van Marken (deutsch Pferd von Marken) genannt.
Paard van Marken is a lighthouse on the Dutch island of Marken. It stands on a headland in the Markermeer. As the building looks like a horse from a distance and with a bit of imagination, it is called Paard van Marken (English: Horse of Marken).

The sower in particular was a figure that Van Gogh saw in terms of representing the eternal cycle of agricultural life, of honorable endeavor and tradition, and symbolized these qualities to the artist. The sun was also a symbolic element for Van Gogh, and in many of these paintings, it shines with an unearthly luminescence.

Le semeur en particulier était une figure que Van Gogh considérait comme représentant le cycle éternel de la vie agricole, des efforts honorables et de la tradition, et symbolisait ces qualités pour l'artiste. Le soleil était également un élément symbolique pour Van Gogh, et dans nombre de ces peintures, il brille d'une luminescence surnaturelle.

One of the many original names for Vietnam. This is a typical street scene in Ho Chi Minh City, pedestrians weaving in and out amongst street vendors, motor bikes & bicycles, the noise, smells, humidity and mayhem, and somehow it all just works. Gotta love it.
I haven’t been to Đại Cồ Việt, yep another old name, since 2016 when a mate & I explored Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand with a backpack.
Flying back to Đại Ngu (yep you guessed it , another name for Vietnam) early tomorrow morning for a couple of weeks. Can’t wait !

While we were relaxing in the van, we heard tiny little feet scampering all over the outside of the van. Then this little red squirrel popped up in one of our windows!

Ambtenarenhuisjes van de 'Stichting Maatschappij van Weldadigheid' in Frederiksoord.
Geestelijk vader van de 'Maatschappij' is Generaal Johannes van de Bosch, die ná het vertrek van Napoleon zijn plannen voorlegde aan Koning Willem I . Van den Bosch kreeg het groene licht om, middels de Maatschappij, hier in Drenthe de paupers uit de steden in het westen (met name Amsterdam) van werk, onderdak en onderwijs te voorzien. Hen dus weer een toekomst te geven !! Vele eenvoudige vervenershuisjes werden voor de nieuwelingen gebouwd, die vervolgens veelal in de veenontginningen te werk gesteld werden. Bij het huisje had men voldoende land voor het houden van een koe, wat schapen, kleinvee en een moestuin.
Ambtenaren van de Maatschappij kregen de beschikking over een geheel uit steen opgetrokken woning, echter zónder grond voor het houden van dieren.
Beleef het verleden van de koloniën van Weldadigheid bij museum 'De Koloniehof' in Frederiksoord. Zeer de moeite waard !
Tegenwoordig zijn álle huisjes van steen en van alle moderne gemakken voorzien ! Het is een geliefde woonomgeving geworden !
De “Pyramide van Austerlitz” is gelegen op het hoogste punt van de Utrechtse Heuvelrug en is gebouwd in 1804. De piramide werd 36 meter hoog en kreeg daarbovenop een 13 meter hoge obelisk. De bouw duurde 27 dagen.
Generaal Marmont liet de piramide bouwen door het Frans-Bataafse leger, als eerbetoon aan zijn vriend Napoleon Bonaparte. Geïnspireerd door diens veldtocht naar Egypte, koos Marmont voor een piramide met op de top een obelisk. Deze obelisk was van hout en raakte snel in verval. In 1894 werd een nieuwe obelisk gebouwd van steen, maar de pyramide zelf werd nauwelijks hersteld. Napoleons broer Lodewijk Napoleon, destijds koning van Holland, gaf het monument de naam “Pyramide van Austerlitz” naar de veldslag in het huidige Tsjechië.
Tot een paar jaar geleden was alleen de stenen obelisk op de top van de Pyramide te zien wegens gebrek aan onderhoud. Nederlandse en Franse overheidsinstanties besloten dat het monument moest blijven bestaan. In 2000 is men dan ook de piramide, met het bos erom heen, gaan renoveren met als resultaat dat de “pyramide” onder de stenen obelisk weer zichtbaar is. Je kunt de 81 treden tellende piramide beklimmen (excl. de treden bij de opstap). Het gras van de piramide wordt wekelijks handmatig gemaaid.

General Marmont had the pyramid built by the Franco-Batavian army, in tribute to his friend Napoleon Bonaparte. Inspired by his campaign to Egypt, Marmont chose a pyramid with an obelisk on top. This obelisk was made of wood and quickly fell into disrepair. In 1894 a new obelisk of stone was built.
Napoleon's brother Louis Napoleon, then King of Holland, gave the monument the name “Pyramid of Austerlitz” after the battle in today's Czech Republic.

Het Hofje van Staats is een Haarlems hofje, het hofje is te vinden aan de Jansweg 39, vlak bij het NS-station in Haarlem. Het Hofje van Staats werd gesticht uit de nalatenschap van de Haarlemse garenreder en handelaar Ysbrand Staats. Staats bepaalde in zijn testament dat zijn hele erfenis bestemd was voor de armen. De eerste steen werd gelegd op 29 juli 1730 door de broer van Ysbrand Staats. Het hofje werd gebouwd door Hendrik de Werff.
In 1733 waren de 30 huisjes voor alleenstaande oudere vrouwen klaar. Voorwaarde om in het hofje van Staats te kunnen wonen, was dat men gereformeerd was. Bij de restauratie in 1990 werd een aantal huisjes samengevoegd, hiermee werd het aantal woningen teruggebracht van 30 naar 20. Bijzonder zijn de ruime binnentuin, het opzichterhuisje, mortuarium en de washokjes. Het mortuarium doet tegenwoordig dienst als fietsenberging.

Van 4 t/m 6 september 2024 konden mijn treinenspotmaat en ik eindelijk weer eens samen op pad. De weervoorspellingen voor ons "treinenland" Tsjechië leken drie dagen op een rij perfect en qua werk en privé pastte het ook net. Er stond weer (te) veel op het programma en er konden weer lekker veel treinen en stekken worden afgestreept. Er werd cargo gescoord aan de hoofdlijnen en steeds meer verdwijnende klassieke tractie aan de "kleine" diesellijntjes werd tussendoor ook meegepakt.
Zaterdag 7 september reden er rond Praag veel historische dieseltreinen in het kader van de PID-dagen. Er werden o.a. een 751, een 744 en een 820 ingezet. Op de lijn tussen Hostivice en Praha-Dejvice werd één van de helaas weinige geschikte stekken opgezocht om de 751 te fotograferen. Een andere stek bij het fraaie station Praha-Ruzyně was niet bruikbaar, omdat er teveel schaduw is rond deze tijd van het jaar. Deze lijn gaat de komende jaren ingrijpend veranderen door de ombouw van de diesellijn naar een elektrische lijn met als eindpunt de vlieghaven van Praha.
Hier zien we de zeer fraaie Bardotka T478 1148 (751 448) met Os 91171 Hostivice- Praha-Dejvice bij Řepy passeren op 7-9-2024. De locomotief is met bouwjaar 1969 een echt klassieker! Achterop loopt de 749 250 mee die op de terugweg de tractie levert. Heel mooi om deze prachtige locomotieven te horen en te zien!
