Would have been lovely to have breakfast outside, but we weren't organised and we had a superb kitchen diner.
It was a good place to groom Skippy though - you can see his jacket out to dry on one of the rocking chair.
Early to mid May is my favorite time to be in Yosemite Valley. I can't wait for my workshop here May 7-12!
I'm post-processing this May 2011 photo for the first time, using three exposures post-processed in PhotomatixPro v6 beta.
Same scene as the previous shot, but composed of two images merged to form a wider view. Can you find Half Dome? Check the note.
One more shot from the recent Yosemite trip. I did not get any outstanding shots, but I need to feel like the hours in the freezing cold was worth it.
A forlorn window in an abandoned building in Valley View, TX reminds us that gravity is one of the immutable laws of the universe.
Photo from the Orange County Public Library collection. I developed the photo further to improve clarity and appearance. Presented for historic interest only.
U-Tote-m Groceries on Cerritos Avenue near Valley View Street. I remember seeing this when it existed, but can't place it exactly anymore.
Update: Greg Bishop’s comment inspired me to delve further. I believe that this strip mall was at about 5959 W. Cerritos in Cypress.
I usually try not to post mutiple photos of the same thing but on recent visit to Yosemite the changing conditions throughout the day were so dramatic but for different reasons every time of day at valley view you can get a great shot. So here are 3 photos from different times of day to show what a magic place this really is.
Not the usual best of evening skies. Yosemite still manages to remain magnificent. The hidden snow under those tall trees is the icing on the cake.
Many years ago the State of New York bought this property & maintained the property but not what was the most iconic barn at the intersection that EVERYONE drives by on their way through the high peaks region of the Adirondacks. Unfortunately, the barn received no care. In 2016 they tore the barn down due to the right side of the roof collapsing after a heavy spring snow.
This is another image from last week when I visited a little park up in the hills not to far from here. I have a new little camera I'm learning to use, and a new lens I wanted to play with. The lens is an inexpensive body cap/lens that is 18mm fisheye ... the only settings are either open or closed, with no additional adjustments and it's about the size or an oreo cookie!
I used it a lot that day and this is one of the images I liked ... most images you can really see the "fisheye effect", but not so much in this image ... i kinda like it ;-) ... and hope you do too!
Be well and enjoy your day !!
