From Lofoten, Norway.
"There is evidence of human settlement extending back at least 11,000 years in Lofoten, and the earliest archaeological sites ... are only about 5,500 years old, at the transition from the early to late Stone Age." Iron Age agriculture, livestock, and significant human habitation can be traced back to c. 250 BC.
The town of Vågan (Norse Vágar) is the first known town formation in northern Norway. It existed in the early Viking Age, maybe earlier, and was located on the southern coast on eastern Lofoten, near today's village Kabelvåg in Vågan municipality. The Lofotr Viking Museum with the reconstructed 83-metre-long longhouse (the largest known) is located near Borg on Vestvågøy, which has many archeological finds from the Iron Age and Viking Age.
The islands have for more than 1,000 years been the centre of great cod fisheries, especially in winter, when the cod migrate south from the Barents Sea and gather in Lofoten to spawn. Bergen in southwestern Norway was for a long time the hub for further export of cod south to different parts of Europe, particularly so when trade was controlled by the Hanseatic League. In the lowland areas, particularly Vestvågøy, agriculture plays a significant role, as it has done since the Bronze Age.
In March 1941 the islands were raided by British Commandos during Operation Claymore, and in a subsequent diversionary attack to support the Vaagso raid in December.
As of 2017, the islands attract one million tourists a year.

Fragmentos
Del Grande Capitán, las armas canto,
asunto tan heroico y prodigioso,
…
Armas, riquezas, Capitán te ofrece,
y soldados tan diestros y animosos,
…
Oye cómo los hados determinan
con precepto jamás irrevocable
que vuelva a España el Capitán,
que inclinan a lucimiento más, más ponderable.
Que todos a su patria le encaminan
toda la selva suena lamentable;
cruje la llama en humo, resolviendo
con el altar el lagrimoso estruendo.
Vuelve la bella Ninfa el paso errante,
pálida, descompuesta, lagrimosa.
El cándido vestido rutilante rompiendo
así cual deshojada rosa.
Ya lejos mira el cáñamo volante
oprimiendo la esfera vagarosa.
Huye la playa, su sepulcro gira,
a él se entrega y duro llanto espira.

The lake is the largest in the Faroe Islands and is also called “The lake above the ocean”. The view from a particular angle functions as an optical illusion, appearing to look as though the lake is hovering directly above the ocean.
At the end of the lake is the impressive Bøsdalafossur waterfall. The 30m high waterfall flowing directly into the Atlantic Ocean. From the same viewpoint you get a great view of the beautiful sea stack Geituskoradrangur.

While the day started out in typical Faroe Island fashion with grey skies and high winds, by the time we moved down to photograph Bosdalarfossur the clouds had parted, and for a brief time we had sunshine and blue skies! The island was transformed into a lush paradise by the sea, and suddenly we felt like we were on a proper summer holiday!

lunghi pianti singhiozzare.
A piedi nudi e passo incerto
coperta da un lercio
e fiorito abitino…
vaga, quasi danzando,
da sola una minuta bambina
fra le fredde lastre del viale.
Non lontan da lei
c’è un “angelo custode”
che,…fra le umide panchine e
le cadute foglie rinsecchite,
acquattato, fa capolino a vegliar
l’incerto volteggiar
e solitario vagar
di quell’anima solitaria.
Tutt’un tratto si ferma e
immobile rimane,
abbandonate e dritte
le sue esili braccia al corpicino
col capo chino a guardar
dei suoi piedini scalzi
le dita giocherellare fra
le foglie secche scricchiolare.
Pian pianino mi avvicino e…
fermo li rimane,
quell”angelo custode”
rimango solo io in quel freddo e lugubre viale.

The avenue of singing leaves
.
Between the thick fog and the dawn
of a cold autumn morning
in the restless shadows
of an avenue of centuries-old trees
you can hear a thread of a voice lamenting
and long sobbing cries.
Barefoot and with an uncertain step
covered by a dirty
and flowery dress…
a tiny little girl wanders, almost dancing,
alone
among the cold flagstones of the avenue.
Not far from her
there is a “guardian angel”
who,…between the damp benches and
the fallen dried leaves,
crouching, peeps out to watch
over the uncertain whirling
and solitary wandering
of that solitary soul.
Suddenly she stops and
remains still,
her slender arms stretched out and straight
her head bowed to watch
her bare feet
her fingers playing among
the dry leaves crackling.
I slowly approach her and...
she remains still there,
that "guardian angel"
scrutinizes me but lets me pass.
I address her but...
smiling and with a soft voice
she says to me: SSsss....can you hear them?, they are talking to me,
the leaves of the avenue are singing
they are my enchanted leaves.
I remain stunned and moved
frightened I turn towards...
a loud rustling of leaves swept by the wind
looking for someone, a relative
a mother who can explain to me.
But suddenly the silence becomes deathly
there is no one left, everything has vanished,
even that “guardian angel” has flown
I am the only one left in that cold and gloomy avenue.
