Partially shaded by the KC-130T this was shot from or the wingman's Harrier. Fortunately that was not the case for the majority of the flight. This was one of the very first frames.

McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II 165582 of VMA-214 Blacksheep. Glad to have seen a few Harriers before they passed into history. The aircraft with the USMC had a very descriptive name, apparently was ranked at one point as the most dangerous aircraft in the US inventory.

My model represents an early production example. Later in service, many A-4Es were upgraded using equipment that was also fitted to the later A-4F, such as a cranked refuelling probe (replacing the straight version on my model), a dorsal avionics hump and various lumps and bumps associated with electronic warfare.
