Kelly: Welcome to my soft, yet spooky, Halloween live special of Kelly's Killer Vlog! To my loyal followers and patrons, welcome back, I love you all! And to those joining us for the first time, I hope you have a good time! Please hit the Like and Subscribe, if you do. And give that bell a little ring. It will let you know when I post new content, and helps out my page a lot.
Because we're live, and because it's Halloween, please be patient when trick-or-treaters come to the door. I promise to be quick when I'm handing out treats. My parents are having a date night - Hey! I think it's cute that they still have date nights. (grins) It's 6 PM, and I'll be with you until midnight.
Okay, let's jump right into it. We all know why we're here. Yes, it's Halloween, but it's also the seventh day in my city, Longvalley. And there's just one thing Longvalley's been known for since 2018 - the Samhain Slasher.
This creep is the reason why I became interested in serial killers. Well, that, and my mom's a counselor at my high school. So, I've always been interested in what makes people tick, and that's why I started this vlog. Not only do we dig into their stories, when a new serial killer pops up, we investigate, crowd source, and try to track them down.
(The doorbell chimes with spooky ghost sounds.)
Kelly: There's our first trick-or-treaters. I'll just be a moment. While I'm away, post some questions. (mugs for the camera) I'll be right back! (and leaves the camera frame)
(On the right side of the monitor, fan questions and comments scroll while viewers hear a door open, excited children in the background crying "trick or treat!" and some laughter, a door closes - Kelly reappears in the frame, beaming.)
Kelly: Those kids were just the cutest! And kudos to the adult escort on the sidewalk, making sure the kiddos were safe. Don't you think it's great when parents get into the spirit and dress up, too? My dad used to do that. His go-to costume is always "the mad scientist." (grins) He's a chemistry teacher at my high school.
Let's check on your questions! (appears to be reading) Okay, we'll get a common one out of the way. The Samhain Slasher started his reign of terror in 2018. His first victim (a high school portrait of a girl pops up next to Kelly's face), was discovered in her bed, seven days before Halloween. Of course, back then, no one knew this was the start of a pattern. Each night, for the next 6 days, a young woman was brutally murdered in her bed. (more pictures appear beside Kelly's face) The last one on Halloween night. And then, the killings simply stopped. Everyone hoped the killer died in a car accident, or was locked up on some other charge, but in 2019, it started again. (seven more pictures appear) And in 2020. (seven more pictures appear) And in 2021. (seven more pictures appear) And now, in 2022. (six frames appear, but only the first four have pictures) I see you're asking why the last two are blank. Well, it's only been a couple days and their names haven't been released yet. It's 7 PM and -(doorbell rings spooky sounds again) - And I'll be right back! (Kelly leaves the frame)

Kelly: SO adorable! Kudos, again, for adult supervision. And one of the little girls was the cutest old-school Wonder Woman, my personal fave. Okay, back to your questions and observations. TuxedoKitty, hi there! (gives a little wave) TuxedoKitty asks if I'm afraid to live in Longvalley. Well, it's pretty scary to live anywhere these days, right? You have to take all kinds of extra precautions. My parents are safety freaks. Check it out. (she reaches behind her chair, and draws aside the pink-and-white ghost sheet to reveal a large window with bars on it then she drops the sheet back into place) Now you know why I cover that window. I basically live in a fortress. That's what happens when you move to a place where a serial killer decides to live.
Hi, PuffyPirate! PuffyPirate was my very first patron! PuffyPirate asks, have you noticed that all of the victims are brunettes? Good point. Yes, that is definitely one of the commonalities. Police aren't jumping to the conclusion that the Samhain Slasher only targets brunettes because brown is the most common color of hair. So, it could be coincidence. Our local stores tend to run out of blonde hair coloring just before Halloween. I guess some people don't want to take the chance. I'm not willing to damage my hair going blonde then back to brown for the last week of October.
LimpBizness, hilarious name (waves), says; the victims look a lot like you, do you think you're the Slasher's "type?" (does air quotes and gives a little laugh) Dang! Well, I sure hope I'm not.
LokiForMrGoodbar (waves) asks, other than general physical appearance, are there any other similarities between the victims? Excellent question. (doorbell rings spooky sounds again) It's 8 PM and here's the list of similarities we've discussed so far. Talk about them amongst yourselves, and I'll be right back! (A list appears on the screen and Kelly leaves the frame)

Kelly: Kids are creative with their costumes. One was wearing a hotdog bun and a Michael Myers mask and said he was Oscar Myers. Kudos for parental eyes on the kids, but no points for originality. I swear he was wearing the same costume as the last dad. (shrugs) Give me a sec' to review your comments.
QuiteContraryMary (waves) asks; why do you think all of the reports say there were no signs of a struggle? (looks at the camera) Because there were no signs of a struggle? (laughs) I'm kidding, kidding. Don't hate. That's a good point, Mary. None of the victims seem to have fought with the Slasher. Even if you knew your attacker, you'd fight with them if they tried to stab you. Am I right?
(Kelly nods at the screen) Exactly, TwoPointOhMy, even if you were sleeping when it happened, you wouldn't die instantly from a slash across the throat. If you didn't fight, you'd at least thrash around in pain. (there's a knock in the distance, Kelly frowns) It's a little after 9 PM and I didn't think we'd have more trick-or-treaters this late. Hang on. (Kelly leaves the frame)

Kelly: Teenagers. Definitely NO parental supervision, and barely bothering with costumes, the guys at least. Just masks. The girls were doing the "sexy kitty" and "sexy nurse" kind of thing. You know what I mean. (laughs at some posts that scroll) My mom is always concerned that some of the girls having problems in school don't see that they're inviting danger with their behavior. Don't get me wrong, she's not one of those "they asked for it" types. She just means, if you have the choice to walk down a dark alley or a lighted street, why pick the dark alley? You know?
(Kelly is just taking a seat in her chair again.)
Kelly: I turned off the front porch light, so we shouldn't have any more interruptions. (pulls a fluffy pink blanket around her shoulders) I swear there's a draft. So, what are your thoughts on why the victims don't struggle?
(Kelly is wrapped in the blanket, a bowl of popcorn now sits in front of the monitor.)
Kelly: 11 PM and one more hour for thoughts, opinions, and theories before the Slasher goes dormant for another year. (nods at the screen) LeftSaidFred, I agree with you. Clearly, they're being immobilized somehow. The cops might know how, but are keeping that to themselves. But I don't think they're being tied up in any way. I mean, there'd definitely be "signs of a struggle," right? Hi, DontDabDonna, you're correct, all of the victims went to the same high school I did. But you have to remember, Longvalley only has one high school.
Hey, PuffyPirate, no, none of them were in any school clubs together. I've looked through the yearbooks, and they didn't seem like the type. And, to DontDabDonna, I think the cops would consider being knocked out "signs of struggle." I mean, maybe. Maybe not. Tell you what, I'll add that idea to the list. Okay, so we've got physical similarities, same high school, no signs of struggle, possibly knocked out, none of them belonged to school clubs. (grins at the screen) Anything for you, PuffyPirate. All of them found murdered in their beds.
I agree, RedWriteHand, it's so random. Sure, the Slasher has to know where a victim lives, but he could do that just by following a girl home one day. It's like my mom says; girls have to assume they're being watched. That doesn't mean you can't live your life, but we have to be prepared. Okay, QuiteContraryMary, it is hard to be prepared in your sleep. Just lock your doors and windows, okay? (frowns and swivels in her chair, drawing back the pink background) I knew I felt a draft. (slides window all the way shut, locking it, then turns to grins at the camera) Fine example I made, right? Good thing there are bars.
(A band of light crosses her face and she looks away from the monitor for a moment.) My parents just drove up, guys. It's just a few minutes to midnight so I'm going to go ahead and say good night, now. Love you all and see you in a week when we'll take a look back on tonight, and discover if the Samhain Slasher claimed another victim while we were discussing his crimes. Happy Halloween, everyone!
(The sound of keys and a door opening in the background. Kelly taps the key to end the live feed and the screen goes dark, with only the candle flames reflecting in it, the mic stays hot.)

Kelly: Hi guys! How was the party?
Mom: Crowded. The only times I knew where your dad was, was when he was pranking someone or clowning around. He loves a spotlight.
Dad: (affecting a Karloff imitation) Can I help it if everyone enjoys a cut-up?
Kelly: Gross, Dad. (is clearly amused) Careful where you wave that thing.
Mom: Every year, I tell him not to raid the school for his costume supplies.
Dad: It's cheaper than going to Ghoultown.
Kelly: But it smells weird.
Mom: That's because your dad managed to spill chloroform and a margarita on himself during one of his "it's alive" routines.
Dad: Everybody laughed.
Mom: Everybody didn't have to drive you home with the windows rolled down so they didn't pass out.
Dad: I'll take it out with the trash. You done down here, Sweetie?
Kelly: Yeah, had a great night. I think everyone had fun.
Dad: That's the important thing. No good night kiss for the old man?
Kelly: You really overdid it with the blood, Dad. I don't want to get it on me. That dye never comes out.
Dad: How about if I lean way out?
Kelly: (laughs and there's a "smooch" sound) You're a nut, Dad. Love you.
Mom: Don't be too long, Hon'.

Losing someone close can take its toll…. Before my Mum passed she wrote me a letter and I said to her and myself I wanted to keep it for a time when I was as close to the heavens as I could get and this was the appropriate spot and weather for this…
2018 – what a summer!! With tent having been finally taken out of storage after the winter (I had planned a few winter camps but time seemed to beat me) I had taken full advantage of the superb weather that Western Europe had been experiencing. After a fine few days out in Applecross with Thomas Heaton, I was keen to get out ASAP and had my heart set on the summit of Stob Coire nan Lochan in Glencoe.
Arriving to the pipes in the Coe, I was soon heading up the familiar path, passing the day adventures on their way down. I often get asked about the weight in my pack and although I don’t weigh it, the only time I did, the weight of the camera and filming equipment actually equaled the weight of all the camping gear combined! Although not a light weight traveler (impossible to do with all the equipment !) I do try and carry as little water as possible due to the weight it adds. A Sawyer filter accompanies me and today it came in handy as I reached the corrie and filled up for the night ahead. If I thought the trek up to this point was tough going, I was about to really feel the weight as I carried on to the corrie rim and make my way round the famous cliffs. There was no rush so I slowly trekked on upwards and took frequent stops. Its amazing how the troubles of normal life leave you in these conditions, although I had one very important reason for coming up here which is explained at the end of the video and made this trip an extremely emotional one for me (see video and first paragraph)….
My main concern on the ascent was related to finding a suitable pitch on the summit of SCNL. I have been up here loads, but the majority of these visits have been when a deep layer of snow has settled! I didn’t want a repeat of my Torridon trip a few years previously when I spent about 90 minutes searching for a flat piece of ground without tent shredding rocks!!! My fears were growing as the entire journey round the corrie to the summit comprised of said sharp rocks!!
However as I reached the summit I spied a flat area of grass about 5 meters from the summit which turned out to be perfect for the tent (a one man tent that is!!!).
I set about setting up for the night and was done by sevenish. A few hours to play with, so I decided to head to Bidean. A lovely (pack less) trip saw me stood atop of Argyll and Bute all by myself , a wonderful moment (better was to come though).
A little more than an hour after setting off from SCNL , I returned and set about replenishing the lost calories, the light was absolutely magical and I had a glorious vista to enjoy whilst scoffing my evening dinner.
He next few hours were some of the best (an emotional) I have enjoyed on the mountain and I hope the video , and photos , does it justice. It was the perfect way and place to read my letter and say goodbye in my own way.
A few tears shed and night was soon gathering seed around me. I got my head down and woke a few hours later at 3.30am.
The dawn light lit the sky and heart filled the skies above me (perhaps a sign). A few more photos taken, but I spent more time just enjoying my surroundings and counting my lucky stars that I was privileged enough to be in this spot in these conditions.
The adventure wasn’t over yet. I decided to head back down the other side of the corrie and a few tricky steps later (well tricky with a huge ruck sack on!!) I was back in the corrie and beating a retreat to the car. Early morning whilst most of the world slept and I had enjoyed yet another fabulous adventure and met deer, bunting and a host a wildlife the majority of the population may never see.
How lucky are we who stay so close to these sacred mountains……
