Wild or domesticated animals had a vital role in ancient Egypt. The exhibition "Animals and Pharaohs" shows the role and importance of animals in Pharaonic civilization.
Consisting of more than four hundred pieces the exhibit reconstructs the relationship between animals and men religious beliefs , nature and culture, from admiration and fear in everyday life, war or in agriculture.

Comprennant plus de 400 pièces, l'exposition reconstruit les rapports entre hommes et animaux, la nature et la culture, depuis l'admiration et la peur dans la vie quotidienne, dans l'agriculture, la guerre et les croyances religieuses.

dentro del recinto de la Peninsula de la Magdalena podemos encontrarnos el homenaje a este ilustre marino Cantabro que es Vital Alsar, con estos galeones surco el Atlantico y bajo por el Rio Amazonas, imitando al conquistador Orellana.

I am visiting my son BieJee in Rovaniemi, where he is working on his master’s thesis at the partner university in Lapland, specifically at the Arktikum. Arktikum is a science center and museum where you can closely experience northern nature, culture, and history. It houses the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland and the Regional Museum of Lapland. The center stimulates thinking, encourages debate, and provides deeper insights into the Arctic region. BieJee is researching the impact of climate change on the Sami, the indigenous people of Lapland. The Sami have their own unique culture, languages, and traditions and are known for their close connection to nature and the preservation of their nomadic lifestyle. Climate change has significant effects on the Sami, an indigenous people living in Lapland, a region that spans Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. Changes in snow and ice cover directly impact traditional activities such as reindeer herding, a crucial part of Sami culture and economy. The warming climate leads to ecosystem changes, such as the shifting of tree lines and the emergence of new plant and animal species. This can disrupt the habitat of reindeer and other animals and alter the region's biodiversity. Milder winters and increased rainfall can create an ice layer on the snow, making it more difficult for reindeer to access lichen, their primary food source. Melting snow and ice make it harder to access traditional areas vital to the Sami's culture and livelihood, such as hunting and fishing grounds. Environmental changes force them to adapt their centuries-old traditions and ways of life. Adapting to new conditions can create financial pressure and disrupt the social and cultural structures within Sami communities. I am proud to say that BieJee’s thesis, which contributes to the improvement of the health and well-being of the Sami, has been successfully completed.

The windmill, in this case, a large one made by Southern Cross at Toowoomba Foundry is an icon of the Australian landscape. Rural properties, trillions of sheep, cattle and other livestock and creatures as well as humans of course have relied on the life saving water they pumped way back into the 19th century.
As a tribute to their importance in Australian history, both rural and town, this one was erected in the paddock outside the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre in Longreach, Queensland. From this spot you gaze at it through a scenic window and let the memories of their essential role in Australian history wash across you.
On a personal note, I still remember the one in the backyard of flats we used to stay at in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast as a kid. At that stage, the town did not have a reticulated water supply and water was pumped from the ground of course. I still affectionately remember the very distinctive sound of it working as the wind turned its sails or blades.

You can see windmills, mostly broken down now across rural Australia and the Cobb and Co Museum in Toowoomba, Queensland has an amazing collection in their yard. You can't miss them.

Commonly known as the Gateway Bridge, The Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges are a side-by-side pair of road bridges on the Gateway Motorway (M1), which skirts the eastern suburbs of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The western bridge carries traffic to the north and the eastern bridge carries traffic to the south. They are the most eastern crossing of the Brisbane River, the closest to Moreton Bay, crossing at the Quarries Reach, between Eagle Farm and Murarrie. The original bridge (formerly named the Gateway Bridge) was opened on 11 January 1986 and cost A$92 million to build. The duplicate bridge was opened in May 2010, and cost $350 million.
A trip to Inveraray with work gave a brief opportunity for some shots.
The sun was out but the wind made it feel bitterly cold. Not many folk were out, most were sensibly staying in the warm coffee shops!

En un colegio cualquiera la Señorita Conchita le pidió al joven alumno que se levantase, por favor. Este maldijo su suerte y se puso en pie. Notaba que las piernas le flaqueaban. Los compañeros y compañeras daban gracias por no ser los elegidos y clavaban sus miradas en el agraciado con el premio del sorteo. Por más que fuese profesora de ciencias Conchita se extralimitaba, y si tenia que hacer una sustitución de Lengua se involucraba en la asignatura. Era una de las profesoras con más años en el centro y su fama era de ser dura, durísima. Tal vez lo fuese. También tenía fama de ser justa, pero el miedo que le procesaban los alumnos ganaba por poco al respeto.
