I just acquired this vinyl copy of Captain Beefheart's 1969 classic produced by Frank Zappa. When I first heard this album as a teenager I thought it was a confused mess. Over the years I have learned to appreciate that it is in fact a carefully written and brilliantly produced confused mess. In fact that is idea. Now considered to be one of the greatest albums of all time.
