Belvedere Palace

 

Baroque architecture style.

Built between 1717 and 1723, designed by the architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt.

It currently houses the Belvedere museum.

A Vienna bound freight train rolls down the Semmeringbahn grade at Eichberg, just up the hill from Gloggnitz in Lower Austria. Leading the way are a pair of OBB Class 1044's. Yes, the weather was just as nice as it looked!

Today I watched the traditional New Year’s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic — a tradition in my family since childhood, and one I’ve rarely missed. One of the highlights is always the ballet, and this year I suddenly recognized the impressive entrance hall of Vienna’s MAK Museum in one of the performances. It made me want to share a few photos from my visit. If you ever travel to Vienna, don’t miss this museum — it’s incredibly beautiful.

The MAK in Vienna is one of the most exciting museums in the German‑speaking world, seamlessly weaving together art, design, architecture, and applied arts.

Winter wonder land in Vienna. Every year, starting in January, there's a nice ice rink and a lot of gastronomy selections at the front of the Vienna Town Hall.
