[A second view in comments. It's been a marvelous year for daisies.]

In the Fairy Glen, on the Isle Of Skye, there is a small area of woodland which is beautiful. It is tight and twisted and almost claustrophobic but it is also verdant, vibrant and alive.

This image from Gibbs Gardens offers a view of nature's own landscaping, where rows of daffodils create natural borders along a verdant avenue. The winding path, marked by the shadows of the trees, invites a leisurely stroll through this tranquil setting. The vibrant yellow blooms stand in contrast to the greens and browns of the surrounding landscape, signaling the height of spring's arrival. On either side of the path, the daffodils are arranged in natural clusters, their cheerful presence a testament to the careful planning and cultivation of the gardens. As a fresh breeze rustles through the branches above, the scene is one of harmony and peace, a snapshot of the idyllic beauty found in Ball Ground, Georgia.

This is a little-known, rarely-visited waterfall near Mount Toby. I spent Memorial Day searching out waterfalls near where I live now. Although most of the day was cloudy, the sun did break out while I was at this one. Most of the shots that were used to make this were taken when the sun was about 40% strength, coming in through some foggy haze.

Other images from this day can be seen on my website at www.justinsmithphoto.com/galleries/recent

Near where we saw the dinosaur footprints, the rocks forms layers and sediments along the shoreline. Covered in bright green seaweed the results is quite abstract.

On our second day up in the Columbia River Gorge, Aaron, Zach, and I met up with local great Rami. Rami suggested various waterfalls to visit and we ultimately ended up at Upper Bridal Veil Falls. Rami forewarned us about the “fun” hike. Sure enough it involved mud, butt sliding, and some scrambling but eventually we descended down into the gorge where the stellar views awaited.

With a drier spring the water flow in the gorge was lower than normal. These conditions were nearly perfect for this waterfall as the rocky cascades were visible and we were able to get closer to the waterfall. Coming out of the forest the entire area was lush, green, and virtually untouched. Though it was probably still a week or two from peak, the ferns and plant life were already large and lush. Unlike most of the waterfalls I have visited in the gorge, the base of this waterfall is shallow with water cascading down a rocky slope.

Time flew by as over two hours elapsed before we were wrapping our shoot, just as the clouds broke and the harsh midday light began ruining the scene.

Hello my friends, I recently returned from a tour with my partner and friend Javier de la Torre in the beautiful and legendary lands of Scotland. Was the first time for me, and I am absolutely in love with that place, probably one of the most fascinating areas that I ever visited. I want to start to share with you some of the captions taken during that trip from the wild Glencoe to the windy coasts of Northumberland. Usually, people start sharing the most epic shots or at least the most popular locations, well I want to start with the opposite, an intimate landscape taken on the road during one of the many breaks between the locations. A place out of this world a small stream surrounded by trees totally covered by thick moss just a few steps from the road. I was totally mesmerized from this place

This is one of my favorite waterfalls in the spring when the ferns, moss, and leaves are bursting with green.

Honored to share the good news that one of my images made it to Flickr's top 25 for 2017. It is the image of Tasman Glacier in New Zealand. Sharing a memory from earlier this year of hiking at Eagle creek, Columbia river Gorge, Oregon.

Finally a shot from my land: Piemonte. Is a recent work taken with my friend Gianluca Podestà during a very pleasent afternoon in the deep of the woods. Best viewd on black as usual.

I would like to remind everyone who is interested in my work that this summer I will be conducting a workshop in the Italian Dolomites as a co-leader with Erin Babnik www.erinbabnik.com. This amazing tour of six days will take place in the heart of one of the most beautiful alpine environments in the world. During the workshop we will teach everything that is needed for master landscape photography, getting the most out of even the weakest light and the worst weather. Contact us to receive our beautiful brochure that contains all of the details regarding this exciting workshop.

This reservoir in southern California has been getting very low in recent years. Last year it was very nearly dry. It is nice to see it essentially totally full. I

Just returned from a trip to the Redwood forests of Northern California. Its my annual pilgrimage and this time took a hike that ended with this beautiful waterfall nestled by ferns deep in the forest.

Vast open fields, a heaven for cycling.

While backpacking in Patagonia came across this little gem.

Hope you all have a wonderful long weekend filled with fresh air, smell of wildflowers and sound of streams and waterfalls.

Flush with November rain, Elowah Falls thunders into its basin, casting a thick veil of spray in all directions, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. The spray supports a vibrant, boulder-dwelling community of mosses and ferns. This also means that one has to be quick with the camera, or better prepared, as the lens becomes coated with droplets in record time.

I haven't done much research into the phenomenon, but I am interested to know why the bright yellow lichen seems to thrive on the over-hanging basalt near the waterfall. I'm sure it's something to do with the right combination of light, moisture, and nutrients, but exactly why that occurs on the overhanging rock is not clear to me. Thoughts, anyone?
