Red-bellied Woodpeckers are common in many Eastern woodlands and forests, from old stands of oak and hickory to young hardwoods and pines. They will also often venture from forests to appear at backyard feeders.

This young least bittern was just beginning to feel his wings and to venture away from the security of his nest and home . It is such fun to watch how new and exciting everything is to them and to watch as they tentatively move out further and further.

Wishing you a great and blessed Thursday !!!!

My very first attempt at using the Blackdragon viewer.

When I checked on our little hummingbird nest in our back yard, I noticed one of them was outside the nest. Then about an hour later, I noticed it was back in the nest. Flight (albeit short) is the only possible explanation. Hummingbirds can't walk and they certainly couldn't have stepped over the lip of the nest. I keep checking back. I'd love to see them actually take flight.

The Bowland Hills lie behind our village and in the recent snow they looked really pretty. I took a stroll up above Bleasdale and took a few shots. It was heavy going in the pristine deep drifts of snow but pure joy to walk on terrain where no one else had ventured!

This is a view looking through some of the recently felled trees towards Parlick and the Ribble Valley.

I ventured under the storage loft today and found this necklace in a bag of rusty tools. I also found the Joe Lansdale book I thought I lost, but that's another story.

My friend Mary and I made these necklaces (hers said "What's up bitch") after seeing "Clerks" and they were a big hit down at the bar.

Shows you what kind of crowd I run with.

Anyway, I haven't seen Mary in many, many years and I wonder if she still has her necklace.

PILATUS VENTURE (IMO: 9693214) is a Bulk Carrier that was built in 2016, sailing under the flag of Hong Kong.

It’s carrying capacity is 63276 t DWT and her current draught is reported to be 7.4 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 199.9 meters and her width is 32.26 meters.

During my spring break of 2016, I ventured to many of my favorite places in the desert areas of Southern California. It was a great experience because I had some of my current and former Arcanum apprentices with me. During this night, I made my first trip to the Trona Pinnacles during the night of a full moon. I noticed that this rock formation had Polaris right above it, so I decided to try an hour of 30-second exposures. I exported them and used StarStax to assemble this image.

Rail fanning east of Bluefield, WV is a new adventure for me. Good day, fun day...looking forward to more excitement in the East River Valley.

This new gosling was venturing out on the Wildlife Loop at Horicon Marsh NWR. Nearby were Mom, Dad, and several siblings.

Taken around 1990, Northern Venture was in Lossie to get a new wheelhouse fitted. This was obviously one of my better days for getting focus and exposure right.
