Here comes the ocean

And the waves

Down by the sea

Here comes the ocean

And the waves

Where have they been?

My dark crimson pearl - all velvet and mystique.

This is the Oklahoma hybrid tea-rose. Super fragrant.

All dressed up with her double petals. First grown in 1963.

She is now the state flower of Oklahoma in the USA.

But this one lives along Pretoria Road, at Hornsby, in northern Sydney.

Glamorised today with a Flickr Photo Editor 'make-over' featuring a subdued application of the Legacy K6 filter, courtesy of Flickr, to bring out the velvet tones in my Oklahoma hybrid tea-rose.

i tried to do something rocker chic for fashion photography but you can't even see the velvet underground tee, so that was dooooooomed

This shot is from 2014, many cameras, turntables and homes ago. This was my first Nikon camera and man was I in love. Even though I mostly use Pentax now Nikon is still the best maker of 35mm slr’s in my opinion. The F2 is pure mechanical bliss. The prisms with meters are a bit large but they fit the body well and the 100% coverage is a helpful tool for precise framing. I have an F2 with the AS prism now but I hope to pick up a de-1 soon. That combo makes the most beautiful 35mm slr ever (again imo).

The lens is the non ai 50mm f1.4 which I never fully loved, it’s a great lens but I later picked up an FE which had the series e 50mm f1.8 and that lens is killer even with the less robust plasticy housing. All of the 50mm f1.8 Nikons are great lenses and I will always recommend those over the f1.4s specifically the pancake version without the rabbit ears. I was still using drug store film exclusively and this was shot on Kodak Gold 200, a perfectly useable film which I prefer to ultramax. Anyway, the record on the table is a first pressing of the amazing Velvet Underground’s 2nd album White Light White Heat. This description is word salad and I don’t like most salads.

Despite all the computations

You could just dance to a rock 'n' roll station

And it was alright...

The Lou Reed playing card from the set given away with the New Musical Express in 1991.

...............................

I wasn't quite sure when the NME gave these cards away but according to what I could find through Google they were issued in 1991. I can't imagine many readers of the weekly ever having kept the whole set but I'm one of those 'sad' people who did. All in perfect nick due to being stored in a little, steel, playing-card box over the years.

.................

See the whole set in comment below.

I'll be your mirror

Reflect what you are, in case you don't know

I'll be the wind, the rain and the sunset

The light on your door to show that you're home

When you think the night has seen your mind

That inside you're twisted and unkind

Let me stand to show that you are blind

Please put down your hands

'Cause I see you

You can't put your arms around a memory.

The most famous toilet in Rock'n'Roll - inducing instant constipation in clubgoers for decades.

CBGB, New York City, July 2006.

CBGBs is closing October 31 and relocating to Las Vegas, where they'll reopen in 2008. The owner plans to reconstruct the stage and the ambiance, and promises to bring the urinals and the toilets with him. It's not fixtures, though, that make this toilet so notorious - it's the feng shui. It's the elevated crapper lording over the peasants at the urinals. Some question whether CBGBs will be able to recreate their scene in a new city. If they can construct a bathroom that makes you feel just as uncomfortable as this one, than the answer is yes.
