The West End is a neighbourhood in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, located between the Coal Harbour neighbourhood and the financial and central business districts of Downtown Vancouver to the east, Stanley Park to the northwest, the English Bay to the west, and Kitsilano to the southwest across the False Creek opening.
Taken during a phot walk around Vancouver, BC. Walked all the way from Canada Place to Stanley Park then back. I was walking through Coal Harbour when this was taken.
I have been busy with squirrel projects so I am finally starting to go through the photos I took on our May road trip from Vancouver to Nova Scotia. It was a cool, drizzling day but we had a great walk with my sister and her husband around Stanley Park and some of the downtown area then across teh Granville Street Bridge to the Ian Tan Gallery where my sister has her art work on display.
Looking from the opposite side of False Creek, the Paq Casino shines like copper. The day was a grey dreary one but one never knows in Vancouver this time of year. It could rain, mist, by foggy, or more. At this moment the sun shone through and I was in the right position to catch it. The Parq Casino caught the sun's rays for moments and in it's copper color, was surrounded by grey. Of course all the 18% grey made it easy to expose for.
Taken along the waterfront and Canada Place during a photo walk around Vancouver, BC. First day out photographing with my new Nikon Z6II. Featured in Explore on May 6th 2024.
The cantilever supports a pier that doesn't have posts in the water. The pictures of the airplane going through the cables that I posted yesterday was taken through the cables shown here. I went out yesterday with a wide-angle lens specifically to get different views of the structures. I'd always taken shots at around 24 mm, this lens kept me between 10 and 18mm. The ship in the picture is the Columbia Rediviva, after which the Columbia river was named in 1792.
This is another shot of the beautiful city of Vancouver during my short visit. I love how this blue railing leads the eye up to the skyline in the background.

I was featured in today’s Vancouver Sun and it will also run in tomorrow’s Province Newspaper. You can read the online version of the article at the link below. vancouversun.com/life/birding-bc-how-to-get-started-tips-...
In the cover story (front page) interview with reporter Dana Gee we go for a walk in Iona and discuss my upcoming book “Dare to Bird” rmbooks.com/book/dare-to-bird/ and everything about birding and also the barriers BIPOC birders face and my work with the BC Young Birders Program I founded.
This is the city's popular spot for walks. You've got a beautiful park along side the sea and some wildlife.

The Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing, also called the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge and Second Narrows Bridge, is the second bridge constructed at the Second (east) Narrows of Burrard Inlet in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Originally named the Second Narrows Bridge, it connects Vancouver to the North Shore of Burrard Inlet, which includes the District of North Vancouver, the City of North Vancouver, and West Vancouver. It was constructed adjacent to the older Second Narrows Bridge, which is now exclusively a rail bridge. Its construction, from 1956 to 1960, was marred by a multi-death collapse on June 17, 1958. The First Narrows Bridge, better known as Lions Gate Bridge, crosses Burrard Inlet about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) west of the Second Narrows.
