Brief synthesis
Situated in North Yorkshire, the 18th century designed landscape of Studley Royal water garden and pleasure grounds, including the ruins of Fountains Abbey, is one harmonious whole of buildings, gardens and landscapes. This landscape of exceptional merit and beauty represents over 800 years of human ambition, design and achievement.
Studley Royal Park is one of the few great 18th century gardens to survive substantially in its original form, and is one of the most spectacular water gardens in England. The landscape garden is an outstanding example of the development of the ‘English’ garden style throughout the 18th century, which influenced the rest of Europe. With the integration of the River Skell into the water gardens and the use of ‘borrowed’ vistas from the surrounding countryside, the design and layout of the gardens is determined by the form of the natural landscape, rather than being imposed upon it. The garden contains canals, ponds, cascades, lawns and hedges, with elegant garden buildings, gateways and statues. The Aislabies’ vision survives substantially in its original form, most famously in the spectacular view of the ruins of Fountains Abbey itself.
Fountains Abbey ruins is not only a key eye catcher in the garden scheme, but is of outstanding importance in its own right, being one of the few Cistercian houses to survive from the 12th century and providing an unrivalled picture of a great religious house in all its parts.
The remainder of the estate is no less significant. At the west end of the estate is the transitional Elizabethan/Jacobean Fountains Hall, partially built from reclaimed abbey stone. With its distinctive Elizabethan façade enhanced by a formal garden with shaped hedges, it is an outstanding example of its period.
Located in the extensive deer park is St Mary’s Church, a masterpiece of High Victorian Gothic architecture, designed by William Burges in 1871 and considered to be one of his finest works.
Criterion (i): Studley Royal Park including the ruins of Fountains Abbey owes its originality and striking beauty to the fact that a humanised landscape was created around the largest medieval ruins in the United Kingdom. The use of these features, combined with the planning of the water garden itself, is a true masterpiece of human creative genius.
Criterion (iv): Combining the remains of the richest abbey in England, the Jacobean Fountains Hall, and Burges’s miniature neo-Gothic masterpiece of St Mary’s, with the water gardens and deer park into one harmonious whole, Studley Royal Park including the ruins of Fountains Abbey illustrates the power of medieval monasticism and the taste and wealth of the European upper classes in the 18th century.

i love this place,tøyenbadet, where i go for my not so regular swim.
the place is practically stacked with 70-80's memorabilia, and has this inherent charm that is becoming to a place that has remained unchanged for the last 30 years.
the last time i went swimming, i ended up behind an old lady with a hairnet, who left this unmistakeable taste of hairspray in the water.
distasteful one might say, but i kinda just closed my eyes, and drifted behind her,
and suddenly all these half-gone memories of friendly neighbors with their tea and cupcakes re-entered my mind..
and i somehow had an instantaneous feeling of "home".
so after years of detachment i'm finally rediscovering the innocent feeling of childlike safety..in a swimming-pool. filled with aerosol..
my therapist is going to kill me for this..

SN/NC: Hibiscus Tiliaceus, Malvaceae Family
Hibiscus tiliaceus, commonly called sea hibiscus or mahoe, is an evergreen shrub or small tree that is native to tropical regions of Asia where it is often found growing along coasts and in low moist areas. It is now grown as an ornamental in tropical and subtropical areas around the world. Flowers last only one day, opening in the morning as lemon yellow with dark maroon throats, but turning dull red by evening when they drop to the ground. Simple, heart-shaped leaves (to 8"long and 6" wide) with pointed tips are bright green above and hairy gray-green beneath. Fruits are brown ovoid dry capsules. Roots and flowers have medicinal value. In Asia, mahoe is harvested for the fiber in its trunk which is made into rope. Genus name is the old Greek and Latin name for mallow.
Specific epithet comes from tilia, the genus of basswood/linden, in reference to leaf similarity.

Indeed their ground vehicles and spacecrafts were designed to explore new planets and new worlds.
But something is changing: a black menace is coming from the deep space, its name is Blacktron.
The black men want to attack the Futuron people probably to steal the sought after and valued Monorail.
To prevent the Blacktron attack a new armored vehicle is ready to fire: the "White Tiger".
This medium-class tank features 2 middle-range surface-to-air guns, a rotating turret and a crew of three (the commander, the driver and the gunner).
The nick name is a tribute to the invincible german White Tiger tank from WWII.
Will the "Tiger" be able to destroy the black menace?

The Mystic Tragedies Of Theodhatres:
Antares - The Antagonism Of The Impossible by Daniel Arrhakis (2020)
Two young women Anthea and Thalia fall in love in spite of the moral values that reign in their families.
Despite being very different, they have something in common, the pleasure of observing the night sky and especially their favorite star Antares, the red star in the Constellation of Scorpio.
But there is something else that unites them, the non-conformity of their destinies and the impossibility of their dreams. However, one day the relationship is discovered and they are prohibited from seeing each other.
Disconcerted, they devise a plan to flee the two of them and on a stormy night, taking advantage of the confusion, they flee and take refuge in an old abandoned theater.
There they discover, along with the props, various clothes of characters and decide to disguise themselves, one as a bishop and the other as an ancient Greek warrior.
For a time they lived out their fantasies experiencing several personages and stories until they decide to rehabilitate the old theater and stage a play to get money.
Meanwhile, their families were looking for them throughout the region, tightening their grip on that fleeting and forbidden freedom.
But on the night of the premiere, to great amazement and fear their families appear, but do not recognize them, after all they were unrecognized in their roles.
In the play "Antares" a Bishop who had lost his faith and an Amazon wounded and disenchanted with the battle, finds themselves in the ruins of an old temple under a starry sky.
In the dialogues the revolt and the bitterness of a life they did not want, the loneliness of those who had nowhere to go and the incomprehension of a world that they no longer understood.
After all, it was their story, a story that ended in that old theater, in the last act of their own tragedy.
In the end the two characters say goodbye to life sharing a poisoned chalice while looking at Antares, their red star in the sky.
While the audience applauds, Anthea and Thália join hands looking at each other for the last time, no one would separate them anymore ... they would be together forever in the constellation of scorpion!

Holy Prophet Elijah (Mar Elias) was filled with zeal for spreading the word of Holy God. He lived during the reign of King Achab (875-845 BC). His actions are in the First and Second Books of Kings in the Old Testament of the Bible.
The year of the birth of Holy Prophet Elijah the Thesbite (Mar Elias) is unknown. It is certain that he lived in the first half of the 9th century BC, as he was a contemporary of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel.
One of the iconic images of Bangkok (and one of the most iconic scams) is Thailand's pervasive tuk-tuk (named because of the sound of their small engine). These are motorized rickshaws that serve as an alternative to taxis. They are popular amongst tourists for their novelty value, but that is exactly what they are a novelty. When in Bangkok I would recommend taking taxis for their safety, ease of use, to avoid one of the classic Bangkok scams and to preserve your precious lungs.
First, as you can see from the photo, tuk-tuks have an “open-air” design so they offer no protection in case of an accident. In addition, Thais are very small people and the tuk-tuks reflect that. I am six feet tall and I look like the Hunchback of Notre Dame when I ride in the back of one of these!
Second, tuk-tuks have no meter and the moment you open your mouth and speak English the fare doubles or triples compared to what an equivalent taxi fare would be. All taxis in Bangkok are metered, but some drivers will tell unsuspecting tourists that the meter is broken. If that happens simply walk away and look for another taxi. More times than not the driver will tell you to come back because by some great miracle the meter has started to work! Never step into a tuk-tuk unless you have successfully bargained a fair price otherwise you will be taken for a ride (physically and fiscally).
Third, one of the classic Bangkok scams is that a very friendly Thai will approach you on the street and produce a Bangkok map to help you with your sightseeing day. Your new “friend” will tell you that some of the popular sites are closed for the day, like the Royal Palace, because it is a national holiday. For a small price, usually 20 Baht (about $.65 cents USD), he can have his friend, who conveniently pulls up to the curb in his tuk-tuk, take you around to less touristy sites. The “tour” will take you to some temples, but also to a tourist agency (posing as the official tourist office) where they will try to sell you overpriced train and bus tickets. The finale is a trip to the local tailor where you have the opportunity to buy a customized suit. You gotta look stylish while in the Bangkok, right? Fortunately, I didn’t fall for this scam as I was well aware of it, but I met many travelers who succumbed to the “inexpensive” tuk-tuk tour.
Lastly, the “alfresco” tuk-tuks expose passengers to the high levels of pollution, besides, the heat and humidity that Bangkok is known for. Bangkok taxis are air-conditioned and compared to taxis I have taken New York City and Chicago, are well kept.
When in Bangkok be sure visit the “must see” attractions such as Wat Arun, the enormous reclining Buddha and the Royal Palace. If you are feeling a little adventurous then hop on a local tuk-tuk for that essential Bangkok experience, just be sure to bargain hard and hold on for dear life!
Check back for more of my Thailand adventures!
Happy Travels!

It is interesting that Value City is still left intact on this sign. It appears that "Value City" is being used for the furniture store that still exists in this shopping center. It appears that this may have been a Schottenstein (once parent company of Value City) developed shopping center.
